I heard multiple sobs and screams coming from the outside.
“You are back,” I cried out. “You are back. I missed you. I missed you, Fia. Oh, thank you, Goddess.”
I heard the door unlocking and a second later Hunter ran inside the room.
“Sophia!” he screamed as he threw himself on his knees next to her bed.
He pulled her from me and cupped her cheeks. He looked into her eyes and sobbed.
“It’s you,” he cried out. “It’s really you!”
Fia grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly. I held her hand and rubbed small circles on her palm.
I looked up at my parents and saw them looking at her. Both of them had tears in their eyes and I could tell that they wanted to take her into their arms. They were waiting for Hunter to give them space to hug her.
“Oh, my Angel,” Hunter said as he leaned in and kissed her forehead. “I missed you. I love you.”
Fia’s hold on my hand tightened even more.
“Hi, princess,” my dad said as he approached her, making Hunter move a little. “We missed you.”
Dad pulled her to his chest and mom sobbed as she kissed her temple.
Fia dug her nails into my skin.
I finally looked at her and realized that something was wrong. Something was very wrong.
Fia? I tried mind-linking her.
She looked at me and tears fell on her cheek.
Get them out of here. She said, making my eyes widen. Get them all out of here, please.
Alexander’s POV
I was stunned.
Why did she want everyone to leave?
“Oh, my baby,” my mom mumbled as she took her from my dad. “I love you so much.”
Fia looked at me and I saw pure panic in her eyes. The fear exploded inside me and I pulled her from our mom. She wrapped her arms around my neck and I hugged her tightly.
Please, Lex. She cried out through the mind-link.
“All of you need to leave,” I said immediately. “Now.”
The room was silent for a few moments. Everyone was staring at me like I lost my mind. Hunter looked like he was going to rip my throat out.
“Leave the room!” I repeated, pulling her closer to me. “Now!”
“Alexander…,” Hunter spoke angrily as he tried to approach me.
“You too, Hunter,” I said, tightening my arms around her. “Leave. I will let you all know when you can come back.”
Hunter clenched his fists and looked at Fia.
“What’s wrong, Angel?” Hunter asked, his voice trembling. “Whatever it is, we will figure it out.”
He sat next to us and placed a hand on Fia’s back. She tensed up and tightened her arms around my neck.
“Hunter,” I growled. “Don’t do this. Leave the room.”
Hunter growled back at me.
“She is my mate!” he exclaimed. “You can’t tell me to leave! I won’t leave!”
Fia sobbed, making Hunter gasp and grab her. I growled loudly and tightened my arms around her as tightly as I could without hurting her.
“Hunter, honey, let’s wait outside,” Hunter’s mom interfered. “Let Sophia talk to her brother.”
Hunter’s eyes were wide. He was breathing heavily. His eyes kept flickering as he and his wolf were fighting for dominance.
I didn’t give a shit about him, though. Fia was shaking and I could feel her panic increasing.
“I will come to talk to you as soon as possible,” I told him, trying to keep calm. “Leave, please.”
I looked up at my mom and dad. They were both looking at Sophia and I could see the pain on their faces. Mason and Uncle Andrew looked scared. Hunter’s parents approached him and pulled him up. He looked like he was going to faint.
“We will wait outside,” Anna said quietly as everyone finally started to move.
I watched them leave the room and I was trying so fucking hard to remain calm. It felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest.
Why did she want them gone? Why did she want her own mate gone? What the hell happened?
Hunter was the last one to leave the room. The further he walked away, the worse he looked. I felt bad for him, but Fia was my priority. If she didn’t want him in the room, I would make sure that he wasn’t there.
I waited until I heard the front door of the cabin close. I rubbed her back gently and took a deep breath.
“They are gone, Fia,” I said softly. “What is wrong? It is just you and me now. Talk to me, Fia, please.”
She let me go slowly and lifted her head. She looked around the room and sobbed. The fear and pain I saw in her eyes made my stomach twist.
“I am a murderer,” she said quietly as he looked down at her lap. “I killed all those witches. I killed Hunter’s grandfather. I killed…”
Her voice broke and she sobbed again.
I was too stunned to move. She killed the fuckers who took her and tortured her. We would do the same fucking thing if she didn’t beat us to it. I would torture the living shit out of Hunter’s grandfather and I was sure that Hunter would join me.
“The things I said to mom…,” she continued as she looked up at me.
Her eyes widened and her breath got caught in her throat.
“The things I said to you…,” she mumbled and tried to move away from me.
I grabbed her tightly.
“What the fuck are you talking about, Sophia?” I growled. “Do you really think that any of that matters? What do you think we would do to those fuckers who took you? Do you think that I care about the things you said while you were consumed by that fucking demon? Do you think that Mom cares?”
I was holding her tightly. The emotions that I had were hard to control. I was angry. I was scared. I was in pain.
I took a deep breath and pulled her into a hug. I placed my hand on her head and held her close to me.
“Goddess, Fia, we don’t care about anything you did or said,” I mumbled. “We are just so fucking happy to have you back. I thought that I lost you. I thought that I would never get to see you again. I don’t give a shit about anything other than having you in my arms right now.”
She sobbed and wrapped her arms around me. I lowered my head and kissed her temple.
“I love you,” I told her. “I missed you.”
I was so freaked out with everything that was going on that I didn’t even realize that I got her back.
