Chapter 836 – Until You Say Sorry Novel

“It’s not me. I really didn’t do such a thing. Kendrick, why won’t you believe me…”

When Kendrick was halfway toward her, he suddenly heard Niamh muttering such a comment.

The words Niamh had spoken were like a sharp sword piercing straight into his heart.

His footsteps that were getting closer to her suddenly stopped on their own accord as he kept hearing Niamh muttering to herself continuously.

“You’re the one who said that you’ll marry me when I grow up. Why did you have to be so disgusted with me even when you’re not willing to marry me?

“Why don’t you believe me even once? Just only once will do.

“I only love you, Kendrick. Why do I have to pay such a price for loving you? Why do you believe anything Nevaeh says? Kendrick, why…”

Kendrick felt even more heartbroken when he heard it.

At that moment, he felt that he did not even have the right to approach Niamh.

The past he wished not to see slowly surged into his mind. Those were the scenes of him causing her harm.

‘How could you be so cruel, Kendrick Waldburg. You truly were one cruel person back then. How cold-

hearted could you be to cruelly harm a lady who loved you this much?’

“Nia…”

Kendrick choked and his eyes reddened. Without him realizing it, he softly blurted Niamh’s name.

However, even though he said it softly, it was as if Niamh had heard it.

She stopped muttering and slowly turned around to look behind her.

The moment she locked eyes with Kendrick, Niamh’s eyes suddenly glowed.

“It really wasn’t me.”

She said softly, emphasizing that statement to Kendrick.

The moment Kendrick looked into Niamh’s helpless and hurtful eyes, Kendrick was at a loss for words.

He choked and his Adam’s apple moved as he made his way to Niamh again.

Her pale and devastated face seemed entirely different from back when they had separated at the airport.

Kendrick walked to the bedside and raised his hand toward Niamh’s face. “Nia.”

Niamh paused when she heard it. She quickly tilted her head away, her eyes glinting in a way that she was putting up her guard.

“Who are you? I want to see Kendrick. Where’s Kendrick? I want to see him.”

Kendrick’s outstretched hand suddenly froze in mid- air.

“Nia, I’m Kendrick. Don’t you recognize me anymore?”

Niamh examined Kendrick’s appearance, then shook her head with a straight face. “You’re not Kendrick. Kendrick won’t greet me that way. He’d even feel disgusted with my name. How would he even call me Nia? Who the hell are you? Why are you impersonating Kendrick? Did Nevaeh sent you here? What do you want?!”

Niamh’s attitudebecame more alert.

She staggered as she got up and tried to evade Kendrick, who was approaching her.

“Who the hell are you guys? Why won’t you guys let me out, preventing me from seeing Kendrick? It must be Nevaeh. She sent you guys here to keep an eye on me!”

“You get the hell out of here now. Go back and tell Nevaeh that no matter what happens, I’ll not let her have her way!”

Niamh rejected stubbornly and forcefully.

She reached out her hands again to chase Kendrick away. “Get lost.”

Naturally, Kendrick would not leave. He made his way up to Niamh and grabbed her hand that was pointing at the entrance. In the next second, he held onto her in his arms tightly.

“Nia, I’m not going anywhere. I want to keep you company.”

Niamh’s expression abruptly changed at the sudden hug.

She used all her strength to free herself from Kendrick’s arms but failed.

“You’re still trying to impersonate Kendrick! Let go of me now! Let go!”

In the face of Niamh’s struggle, Kendrick silently endured the pain and continued comforting her gently.

“Nia, I’m Kendrick. I really am Kendrick. It’s my fault. I know what I did was wrong.”

Kendrick kept apologizing but Niamh was still emotionally agitated.

When Niamh realized that Kendrick did not intend to release her, her eyes turned red, and she just lowered her head. Next, she opened her mouth and ruthlessly bit Kendrick’s shoulder.

Hiss.

A sharp pain began emanating from his shoulder. Kendrick frowned but did not make a sound.

If that would make Niamh feel slightly better, he would be willing to endure it, even at the expense of losing his skin.

However, the reason Niamh was biting him was to make Kendrick release her. Niamh’s emotions further lost control when she noticed Kendrick still hugging onto her.

“Let go of me. I want to see Kendrick. How could he be so cruel that he won’t even want to see me? He’d rather believe in the lies Nevaeh spouted than to listen to a single thing that I said.”

“Why, Kendrick? Why are you being so cruel to me?! You’re the one who said that you’ll be with me for the rest of our lives!”

Niamh helplessly blurted those accusations, and each word drifted into Kendrick’s ears, making Kendrick feel as if his body was completely tornapart, and his eyes turned red and teary.

*I’m sorry, Nia. I’m truly sorry.”

Kendrick hugged Niamh, and his lips were beside her ears as he kept apologizing.

Niamh, however, struggled even more forcefully.

“Go, get lost! I want to see Kendrick!”

Niamh was completely unable to recognize that the person before her was the man that she wanted to meet.

Her emotions and her thoughts were completely under the influence of the poison. The same goes for her self-control.

Click.

Suddenly, the door of the ward was pushed open.

Kendrick lifted his head and saw Fabian coming in with a man who he did not know.

Evan quickly walked to Niamh’s side and took out a tranquilizer needle, injecting it into Niamh’s arm.

“Who are you? What did you inject Niamh with?” Kendrick wanted to stop him.

“He’s a friend of mine. He’s a doctor. He injected your wife with a tranquilizer.”

Following Fabian’s explanation, Niamh slowly stopped talking and struggled no further. Her body, becoming weak, leaned onto Kendrick.

Kendrick firmly held Niamh, who was in deep sleep, and caressed her head, feeling heartbroken. He then placed her back on the hospital bed.

“Initially, I thought you’re the best psychiatrist who could treat her, but now, it seems that you too are not up for the task.”

Fabian said thoughtfully, then walked out with Evan.

After tucking Niamh in with a blanket, Kendrick followed them to the entrance, then called out to Fabian when he noticed Fabian was about to leave. “Fabian.”

Fabian’s footsteps came to a halt, but he did not turn around.

As he heard Kendrick’s footsteps close in, he calmly stood in place.

“Fabian, did you really not find the anti-toxoid test reagent on Nia?”

“What are you implying, Mr. Waldburg? Are you accusing me of intentionally choosing not to save your wife?” Fabian asked with a faint smile.

“I just want to know if you’ve looked in detail.”

Kendrick did not intend to argue with Fabian. All he wanted now was to find the anti-toxoid test reagent that could help ease Niamh’s condition.

It had taken a lot of effort to ‘steal’ the vial anti- toxoid test reagent from Carter. In this current situation, that vial was the only thing that could help Niamh.

“My friend and I have rifled through all her pockets and places where she could hide things, but we didn’t find the anti-toxoid test reagent that you mentioned,” Fabian replied considerably patiently.

“How could that be?” Kendrick could not get his head around the idea. “Nia promised me that she would bring it wherever she went.”
