Chapter 137 – Taming My Bullies (Emma & Rowan) Novel Free Online

“Will that make it here in time?” Rowan asks.

Liam nods. “I’ve had it following us since we got in the car. I’m just pulling up the feed to my laptop so we can watch and listen together.”

We watch as the drone feed appears on the screen. Samantha is standing outside of her silver Bentley Continental GT convertible. A man in a nondescript black car pulls up on the other side of the town line.

“Is that the same car from the night outside the diner?” Karl grits, pulling a knife from his pants pocket.

I see Sebastian shake his head out of the corner of my eye. “I thought you left it?”

“This isn’t Lizzie. Now is that the car or not, Liam?”

The camera zooms in just as the audio kicks in.

“No, the make and model were different,” Liam replies before he holds up his hand to silence us.

“Do you have it?” Samantha asks.

Damn, her voice is still so fucking obnoxious.

“I told you I did. Us meeting like this is fucking risky,” the deep voice exclaims.

Sam’s hand moves around animatedly. “I could give two fucks about risky. Give me what I asked for,” she demands, and the man leans into his car and pulls out a duffel bag.

He walks right to the line and stops. “You know I don’t come into the heir’s territory. So, if you want this shit, you’ll have to meet me here.”

“Zoom in on that face,” Rowan commands. ” I recognize that voice.”

Liam angles the camera just as Sam walks over to him.

“Fucking coward. The heirs aren’t anyone you should fear. I’ll rain hell down on you and your family if you don’t bring me the right shit,” Sam snarls.

“Oh shit. That’s Az,” Rowan shouts when the man covered in a skeleton tattoo comes into view. The intricate details of each bone contrasts with the shaded black and gray areas.

We watch as Sam steps closer, reaching out for the bag only for Az to drop it to the ground, grab Sam’s arm, and yank her to the Lincolnville side of town. She screams, pushing at his chest, but his grip is firm.

“Listen here, you uptight cunt, the only reason I’m here is to drop off the fucking shoes you begged us to find for you. I’m not Trix. She’s too fucking nice if you ask me. That’s why she handles all the orders,” he growls, and we all watch the bravado drain from Sam once she realizes she’s never been the one in charge.

Not moving my eyes from the computer screen, I ask, “Who is this guy?”

“Azrael. He’s one of the head members of The Lyc?an,” Rowan replies.

The Lyc?an? I thought Az was only called in when someone violated their rules. I’m about to ask for clarification when Liam’s hand snaps up, quieting any further questioning.

“I’m just here to tell you to lose our information. Don’t call asking us to find you anything ever again. You wasted your one and only request for a pair of shoes,” Az barks, releasing Sam. She grabs the duffle bag and stumbles back across into Calloway as Az storms back over to his car and peels out without a second glance.

“Stupid fucking asshole. He’ll get his, just like everyone else,” Sam mumbles, placing the bag on her car. Opening it, she pulls out a shoebox.

“She was really here for fucking shoes?” Sebastian seethes when Samantha takes out a pair of heels.

I rub the bridge of my nose. We were convinced she was up to something. Of course only Sam would call on the fucking Legion for a pair of shoes. Those guys can find anyone or anything, but you can only ask for their services once. They’re fucking urban legends.

Karl sighs, “What now? This was obviously a bust. Is Sam off the list?”

No one immediately says anything, but we all watch as Liam brings up a website with the same shoes Sam’s essentially drooling over in the middle of the road.

“Fifteen million dollars for a pair of heels?” Rowan yells. “Remind me to make sure Emma knows never to spend that much on freaking shoes.”

“You don’t dictate something like that. Emma would probably tell you how many ways to go fuck yourself before you got your first words out. Not to mention, don’t you have jewelry that costs more than that?” Sebastian snorts. “Those are Debbie Wingham Heels. I’d say the price point is perfectly reasonable between the eighteen-karat gold thread, the rare blue and pink diamonds, and the rose gold accent leather.”

We all burst into laughter at Rowan’s look of confusion. The poor dummy has a lot to learn. With the way his dad dotes on his mother, he should know better. But, alas, some people must be led to the river and taught how to drink.

Liam clears his throat, “For now, we continue to keep an eye on Sam. Nothing happened this time, but until we catch Elise and Madeline and know for sure she’s not involved, she’s not in the clear.”

I watch as Sam gently wraps her overpriced shoes back in the cloth, and places them gently back into the box before she finally gets back into her convertible. “I don’t know if I should be annoyed we wasted our time when we could’ve been with Riri or glad that Sam was dumb enough to contact them, allowing me to catch a glimpse of the elusive Az,” I concede.

“We need to get going before she sees us,” Sebastian states,

“Let’s go catch this party,” Rowan suggests.

“Drop me back off at the stadium. I’m not going to any damn party,” Sebastian commands.

I don’t blame him. If Emma wasn’t there, I’m not sure any of us would be going.

Karl turns the Jeep around and drives back to town.”Nobody better be touching our girl. Quinn’s upset she didn’t get used, so she feels quite stabby.”

I would say no one would be that stupid, but past events have shown just how very dumb people can be.

“Liam, pull up the camera at the party,” I demand.

The feed comes up, and my fists unclench. She’s in the middle of the floor dancing with Shay. Everyone dances around them, but they all keep a safe distance back.

I guess people have a bit more sense than I give them credit for.

She has a bright smile on her face as her hand wipes her hair back from her sweaty forehead. Emma laughs, throwing her head back, exposing the column of her neck. My eyes trail down, watching the sensual sway of her hips, and I’m mesmerized. I could watch her for hours.

My lips lift into a grin.
