Chapter 6 – I Dropped His Dying Mom at His Wedding Novel Online Free

“Major Hurley, this is … just a family matter. A misunderstanding. I’ll sort it out right away!”

He tried to brush it off as trivial.

A misunderstanding?

I sneered.

Even now, he still wanted to play dumb and pretend everything was fine?

Before he could spin more lies, I stepped forward and laid all the materials I’d prepared on the table in front of Rodolfo.

“Hello, Major Hurley. I’m Christina, Tristian’s … ex-wife.”

I spread out the document proving our “divorce,” then placed a copy of Tristian and Megan’s brand-new marriage certificate beside it.

Then I pulled out Emilie’s medical records and diagnosis certificate.

“This is Tristian’s and my divorce certificate, filed six months ago. But I had no idea about it. This is the marriage certificate he just got this morning. And these are the medical records of his mother, Emilie. She’s paralyzed and can’t take care of herself at all.”

I looked up, my gaze calm but unwavering as I faced Rodolfo.

“I’m not here to cause a disturbance today. I just want to ask a few questions.

“First: Did Tristian have an improper relationship with someone else while we were married? Does deceiving me into divorce before marrying another woman violate military discipline and ethics?

“Second: After divorcing me, he still used my name to fraudulently claim the military dependent allowance issued by the army. Does this count as fraud and a disciplinary violation?

“Third: As a son, he turned a blind eye to his paralyzed birth mother, shirked his duty to support her, and dumped all this heavy responsibility on me, his ‘ex-wife’ whom he abandoned. Does this match the moral character a soldier should have?”

Every word I spoke was like a nail, driven hard into Tristian’s guilty conscience.

Rodolfo and the officers behind him grew increasingly serious.

They picked up the materials on the table, examined them carefully, and their brows furrowed tighter and tighter.

Tristian’s face was beyond livid. It had turned ashen gray. His lips trembled violently, and he stood there, completely unable to force out a single word.

He probably never thought that I, who had always been meek in front of him, would become so calm and sharp, nailing him to the pillar of shame in a logical manner,

Megan was also dumbfounded.

She tried to cut in, squeaking that I was being unreasonable, that I was jealous of their marriage and had come to stir up trouble on purpose.

But Rodolfo only gave her a cold glance and said calmly, “Ma’am, please remain quiet for now. The military has its protocols, and we will conduct a thorough investigation.”

The authority in his eyes shut Megan up instantly. Her face flushed, but she didn’t dare utter another word.

Rodolfo had one of the officers take Tristian to the next office for a private questioning.

He then turned to me, his tone softening.

“Ms. Steele, we take the issues you’ve reported very seriously. Please trust us. We will carry out a serious and fair investigation and handle this appropriately.”

He glanced again at Emilie on the hospital bed. “As for Mrs. Kent, we will first arrange to send her to the military infirmary. The military doctors will examine her and provide temporary care. Don’t worry.”

I nodded, and half the heavy stone hanging in my chest finally lifted.

“Thank you, Major Hurley. I have only one request: Tristian must bear all of his mother’s subsequent medical expenses, nursing fees, and support costs. I hope the military can supervise this matter to protect my legitimate rights and interests.”

“That is his legal obligation and moral responsibility. We will see to it,” Rodolfo promised solemnly.

Soon, medical staff arrived and carefully wheeled Emilie’s hospital bed away.

Watching Tristian being led off, and Megan standing there, fuming and stamping her foot helplessly, I felt a long-lost sense of relief.

My first move was the right one.

Tristian, Megan, you’d receive your punishment.

Tristian was suspended pending investigation.

The news spread through the military camp like wildfire.

Overnight, he went from an admired young talent and a promising officer everyone envied to the center of gossip and a scandal-ridden figure condemned for moral corruption.

Locked in his office, he scribbled self-criticism reports over and over, enduring harsh rebukes from superiors and cold interrogations from the disciplinary department.

Unprecedented pressure and fear weighed on him, and the bright future he’d once prided himself on was now clouded in thick shadow.

When he dragged his exhausted body back to the home he shared with Megan, he didn’t receive his new wife’s tender comfort, only her hysterical sobs and accusations.

“Tristian! You liar! Why did you lie to me?”

Megan hurled pillows, cushions, and nearly anything she could grab at him.

“You said you were divorced, having no kids but only a simple family! And the truth? Your ex- wife shows up with your paralyzed mom! I’ve been humiliated because of you!

“Now everyone is laughing at me! They say I’m blind for marrying a man who abandons his wife and mother!”

Megan’s screams were shrill, piercing. Her flawless makeup had long run, revealing a face twisted with rage.
