“Fine, I will talk to Johnnie about it..” I conceded, knowing he was right..I needed to go for my teammates but I was feeling apprehensive because of Brett.
I just know for a fact that he would start some type of shit because he thinks I cock blocked him from asking Johnnie out. Which if he was really into her..he could’ve..would I have beat his ass? Most definitely..but hey, it would’ve shown he meant it.
We got to the apartment not too long after and got straight to work. Moose helped me box some things up while we just chatted about the upcoming season and how we had to start hitting the gym again soon.
We finished in two hours and I knew Johnnie probably wouldn’t be home in another two so Moose said we should go down to the diner not too far away to get some food.
It’s crazy how much has changed in just a few months.
I used to go to this place every weekend with my friends as they nursed their hangovers and tried to pick up girls.
So I wasn’t surprised to see a few of the guys from the team walk in but who I saw with them was what threw me off.
“Thanks for showing us around. We just wanted to get familiar with the campus before the school year starts.” Heaven..yeah..that fucking Heaven said to Tristan, one of our right defensemen.
“Yeah, no problem, any friend of Cas is a friend of ours.” He smiled widely, obviously flirting with her.
So they didn’t fucking leave town? Seriously?
“Oh shit, there’s Caspian right there.” Ryan, our other teammate stated while waving at us.
“Whose the chick?” Moose asked as they started to approach. I watched as she stiffened slightly, panic filling her gaze before she glanced towards Freddy who was standing beside her.
“That’s Heaven.” I stated firmly, making Moose’s eyes widen as his mouth turned into an “o” shape.
“Damn, did you ever date a brunette in your life..jeez man.” He grumbled, prompting me to kick him under the table as the guys approached.
“Hey dude, didn’t know you guys would be here.” Ryan said before sliding into the booth with Trisan following not too far after.
“We ran into your friends here. They asked us to show them around.” Tristan informed us as my expression turned cold.
“They’re not my friends.” I stated harshly, meaning every damn word..what type of shit are they trying to pull now?
“Oh..I thought..” Before Ryan could even speak Freddy interrupted him.
“Ah, I see how it is, my sister is good enough for you to fuck for three summers straight, but not good enough to call your friend.” He stated with a smirk, making me grit my teeth together as the table went silent.
“Freddy, come on, let’s just go.” Heaven stated, those crocodile tears welling up in her eyes as I watched this performance they were putting on.
“No, I think Caspian needs to hear this.”
“Listen, whatever the fuck you have to say..I’m not interested. I’m sorry if you thought whatever we had was something different Heaven, but it’s in the past. You need to move on, and maybe stop letting your brother interfere with your sex life..it’s a little creepy.” I added, glancing towards Freddy who seemed to be fuming now as Heaven tugged at his shirt.
“Freddy..don’t..not here.” Heaven added, staring at her brother pleadingly as he glared at me.
“Be seeing you around Cas. Oh, and tell Johnnie I said hi.” He added and I lost it..the mere fact that he said anything about my wife..even just that small phrase alone was enough to make me jump up and try to lunge at him. But of course the guys held me back, and I saw something in Freddy’s eyes that I didn’t like..not one fucking bit.
This wasn’t over..not by a long shot.

I pressed my foot down on the gas, the jeep picking up speed as I turned a corner and made Heaven reach up for the grip handle.
“Fred, slow the fuck down.” She hissed, making me tighten my grip around the wheel until my knuckles turned white.
“I can’t believe you just let him humiliate me like that.” I spat, glancing toward her as she flicked her long blonde hair behind her shoulder.
“Because I knew we would just make ourselves look bad..if we want to get his friends to trust us..I have to look like the victim Fred..I already explained this.” She reminded me as I gritted my teeth together angrily.
Yes..Heaven’s “plan”..she wants to paint Johnnie as the homewrecker and make it seem like she broke up Caspian and Heaven.
I don’t understand Heaven’s infatuation with this asshole..it’s almost obsessive and the way she balled her eyes out, begging our dad to let her stay here for school. After that rather amusing dinner, I was shocked Dad let her. I mean…Dave King was hauled off to the police station and all Heaven could do was look at Caspian with desperation..begging for him to show her any type of attention.
Of course dad is done with the King’s and doesn’t want to be associated with them. He didn’t get this far kissing ass just to let it all fall apart now. His reputation was everything to him.
But then Heaven said something that even got my attention.
“Daddy, now that Dave is out of the picture, his company can be easily infiltrated. If Caspian realizes his mistake and marries me, then we will be the ones in control.” She said sweetly before handing our dad his glass full of whiskey.
“Sweetheart, this type of scandal just doesn’t go away..the moment the word gets out, his company will lose investors and shares faster than we can keep up with. It won’t be worth it.” My dad sighed before lifting his cup and taking a sip.
Then I got an idea.
“Well, we will buy it out from them..we will rebrand, remarket, and have the new generation of King on our side..supposing Heaven can pull this off.” I added, looking at my sister before narrowing my eyes.
“Sweetheart..is this really what you want? You want to marry that King boy?” My father asked seriously, making Heaven come around his side as tears filled her eyes.
“Yes Daddy..I love him..and I know he loves me too, that slut just did something to him..she tricked him somehow.” Heaven said while wiping at her eyes, making my dad sigh. Sadly Heaven really believed this.
People might wonder what it is that I get out of this..well..besides my sister’s happiness..I get the Winfield name all to myself..the legacy, the money, all of it.
After Heaven marries off, I will control it all..so yeah, my motivation might be money forward..but hey, if she is happy that’s a plus too.
The moment she laid eyes on Caspian she said he was it..I don’t see it..that hockey playing ape is definitely not my definition of a good catch. But she has been stuck on him for years.
Of course she didn’t see the sideway glances he gave Johnnie the entire time..but how could she when her eyes were full of fucking hearts. Disgusting.
“Okay, I will give you one school year..if he hasn’t changed his mind, then we are moving on from this..YOU are moving on from this.” My dad finally conceded, making Heaven let out a squeal before jumping on our dad and hugging him tight.
