Chapter 25 – His Betrayal Novel Free Online by Natalia Jeseye

“I am starving so yes lets go.” He took off and drove for about 20 minutes to an Italian resaurant. The hostess brought us right to a table, and we waited for our waitress to come get our drink orders. “This is really nice Morgan, I feel a bit underdressed here.” I said as I glanced around me. Morgan looked over at me and smiled, “You are fine Jessie, you look beautiful tonight.” I felt my face flush at his compliment. I quickly looked down at the menu to avoid his gaze. Our waitress came over and got our orders and I sat sipping my wine. “So how has work been for you lately Jess? What’s it like working with children all day?” Morgan asked as we sat at waited for our food.

“It is amazing actually, while my dream is to eventually start my own practice, I still enjoy working with children because I don’t think schools take their mental health as seriously as they should. There are a lot of demands on children academically and sometimes they struggle with how to express themselves in a healthy way. Sometimes I think they just need someone to listen to them outside of the classroom.” I was completely being honest because I loved working with children and helping them.

“You do realize your face lights up when you talk about your job and working with children right? That alone speaks volumes for how much you love your job. Most people I know can’t even smile when they talk about their job or they grumble and scowl, you light up like a kid at Christmas time.” Morgan just grinned as she shared this, and it was believable too because she felt like his description. This was one of the main reason she takes pride in her work.

They finished dinner then went on a short walk afterward, the akwarness setting in with Jessie again. “Is everything ok Jessie? You are being awfully quiet suddenly.” Morgan asked as they walked down the street. “Yes, sorry I’m just enjoying the walk.” Jessie said awkwardly. She suddenly felt like she didn’t know what to do or say. This was what she was afraid of, she was nervous because she didn’t want to do anything to scare Morgan away from her because there was no way he felt the same feeling she did. She just kept walking when suddenly Morgan grabbed her hand and asked, “What’s wrong I am suddenly feeling like your trying to put a wall up again and I thought we were past this? Our dinner was great but what’s going on right now that you are suddenly closing off to me again?”

“I’m sorry, nothing is wrong it is just me.” I tried to laugh it off and keep walking, but he still held on and pulled me back and said. “You can tell me Jessie, did I do something wrong.” Jessie looked down, this was what she was trying to avoid, what is she supposed to say at this point.

She pulled away and went to sit down on a bench nearby. She didn’t even know what to say, she looked at Morgan and he sat down next to her. “I don’t want to ruin what we have by saying the wrong thing right now Morgan. Since I came here you have been a true friend and love all the time we spend together. Then seeing you get along with Amy and Dean has just added to that. I don’t want to lose what we have.

“Jessie I am confused why would you fear that, I have no intention of going anywhere, so where is this coming from.”

I looked at Morgan and I sighed as I said, “Because how I feel about you has changed since I came here. I just didn’t want to say anything because I don’t want to lose what we have.” I go to get up and suddenly I am grabbed and pulled back down to the bench and he tilts my head to face him.

“I have been hoping that it was not just me that has felt this, I just didn’t want to scare you away. Jessie, I have had these feelings for awhile now I just needed you to be the one to come forward. You have been through so much and I couldn’t rush you.”
