Even if there was a question on paternity, I should have been told. I would have liked to have the option of raising that child if it was mine. I drove out to the stables and decided to go horseback riding to process all of this information. No matter what, I know I want to tell Jessie about this but I needed to sort it all out in my head.
Jessie
I was finishing up my notes in my office, I thought I heard Morgan in the kitchen but when I went to refill my drink I didn’t see him anywhere. I put all my stuff away and went back to the kitchen and pulled out the ingredients to make a casserole. Morgan must have come home because there were new groceries in the kitchen. I threw the ingredients together, then started putting together a salad and setting out the dishes, while also admiring the red roses that were in a vase sitting in the center of the table. I texted Morgan to see where he was or when he would be home and I have not heard back from him yet. I hope everything is okay, I am finding it odd that he didn’t even say anything before he left.
As I sat there waiting for dinner my phone notification went off letting me know I had a text. I looked and saw it was a text from Morgan letting me know he went out to the stables to clear his head and he would be home and explain soon. I hope everything is okay, I replied ok and I would keep dinner warm for when he got home. What could have happened while he was out running errands.
I was pulling the casserole out of the oven and setting it on the table when Morgan walked in. “I am going to go wash up and then I will join you.” He walked off but he seemed sort of distant with how he was talking to me. I walked to the fridge and pulled out the salad I prepared, dressing, and a bottle of wine. I sat down and waited for him to join me while sipping my wine. Morgan walked into the kitchen, “Okay Morgan, something is clearly affecting you right now, what is it? What happened while you were out today?” He sighed and looked at me, “Let’s enjoy our meal and then you and I can talk about everything.” We ate in silence and after I finished I started putting away leftovers when there was a knock at the door. I walked over and opened it to find Karen standing there.
“What are you doing here Karen? You already said enough at the store, and I can tell you right now I don’t even want to look at you right now.” I looked back at Morgan as he spoke to her and all I could see on his face was disgust. What could have happened while they were at the store that had this much of an effect on him.
I was looking at Morgan, I didn’t know where to begin with all of this and why was Karen at our place right now. “Morgan, what’s going on and what are you talking about? Karen obviously this is not a good time right now, I need you to leave right because Morgan does not want to talk to you at this time.” I went to close the door but she stopped me by pushing open the door. “I think you need to let Morgan decide if he wants to talk to me right now, it’s not your decision to make.” I stood there appalled that she said that to me after Morgan clearly made his point he didn’t want to talk to her.
“Karen, you heard Jessie and I do want you to leave. You have some nerve coming here to talk to me after earlier. Go now, and don’t come back here.” She stood there with a look of shock and hurt, but Morgan came up beside me and wrapped his arm around my waist. “Morgan, please we need to talk about this.” Morgan scoffed, “There is nothing more to talk about and what you told me earlier does not change anything, both you and your mom need to come to terms with this.” Morgan then grabbed the door and closed it on Karen, he turned back to me and pulled me into him and just embraced me. “I know you have questions right now, let’s go sit down and I will tell you what this was about.” I nodded, took his hand and we walked to the living room and sat down.
“While I was at the grocery store, Karen and her mom approached me. Her mom left Karen with me to talk before I could say no so I told her I would only give her a couple of minutes. We walked outside, and she proceeded to tell me that she found out she was pregnant after she broke things off with me and moved away.” I froze at that statement, “So you both have a kid together?” I know my voice was shaking, and Morgan grabbed my hands and squeezed them, “No baby, she told me she terminated the pregnancy because she didn’t want to be stuck with a child since she had just graduated. She then told me that the child could have been mine and then told me she had been cheating on me.” His jaw was clenched as he looked away, and I could tell this information was still getting to him. “Morgan, are you going to be ok? I want to be here for him because I could tell this information hurt him even though this all happened years ago.”
