A few moments after Audrey hung up, she received a voice message from Henley.

“Nicole told me that you are not feeling well. What happened? How are you feeling right now?”

She replied with random excuses.

Henley sent another voice message.

“Rest well, so you’ll recover soon. I’ll treat you to dinner when you feel better.”

Audrey was about to reply when the lights in the room suddenly lit up.

The sudden brightness made her eyes uncomfortable, so she closed them.

Then a voice sounded.

“Who are you chatting with?”

Audrey slowly opened her eyes and saw Cornell standing at the door with one hand in his pocket. His handsome face looked somber.

Audrey was stunned for a moment. She didn’t know how long Cornell had been standing there.

Cornell slowly walked to the bed. He looked down at her and said indifferently, “Turn him down.”

Audrey frowned in confusion. What did Cornell mean?

“If you can’t do it, I’ll help you,” Cornell added in a deep voice.

Audrey was still in a daze. Before she knew it, Cornell had already taken her phone away. He held it with his slender fingers and was about to send a voice message.

Fortunately, Audrey came back to her senses. She suddenly shouted, “Wait!”

She was angry when she realized he had taken her phone.

“Why did you take my phone away?”

“Since you can’t afford to reject him by yourself, I’ll do it for you. Consider it as my help,” Cornell replied casually.

Audrey took a deep breath to suppress the anger in her heart. She tried to reason with Cornell.

“Don’t misunderstand it. He is my senior in college. Nicole told him I was not feeling well, so he sent me a voice message. He’s only concerned. That’s all.”

Cornell looked at Audrey’s phone, then at her.

“Don’t dine with him.”

“Huh? Why not?”

Audrey frowned. She was a little upset.

Cornell flirted with Cecilia in front of her. He didn’t even consider her feelings. So why should she listen to him?

Besides, she and Henley were just friends. There was nothing romantic between them. Why couldn’t she dine with him? Was she not allowed to interact with her old friends?

Cornell still looked calm, but his eyes turned cold. He curled his lips and threatened through clenched teeth, “I dare you to say it again.”

Audrey was rendered speechless.

She could no Longer suppress the anger in her heart. It was as if she wanted to explode. How could Cornell be so unreasonable?

“Cornell, do you know what respect is? We are getting divorced. You have no right to interfere with my social life.”

Cornell sneered, “Is he the reason why you want to divorce me?”

Audrey’s mouth gaped open with incredulity. She didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Cornell was the one who always treated her as a substitute. How dare he question her now!

She was fuming with rage now, but she didn’t bother to explain anything to him. She just said lightly, “Think whatever you want to think.”

Audrey knew that Cornell would never change his heart. He would never love her. So, it was meaningless to argue with him.

“It’s true, right?”

Cornell’s face darkened. His eyes were now full of viciousness.

“Cornell, let me remind you again. We are getting divorced. This is what you want, right? Why are you still making a fuss?”

Cornell’s face turned pale upon hearing this. He was at a loss for words.

When Audrey saw his reaction, she raised her eyes and continued, “When you flirted with Cecilia, did you hear even a single word from me? Did I make a fuss? Don’t you think you should mind your own business?”

“Are you jealous of Cecilia?”

Cornell looked at Audrey inquisitively. His eyes were deep and piercing.

Audrey’s heart skipped a beat when she heard Cornell’s question. He actually hit the nail on the head.

However, she no longer had the right to feel that way. Who was she to be jealous?

Instead of answering Cornell’s question, Audrey said, “You know what?

I just don’t understand. Why can’t I have a meal with other men while you can flirt with other women? Don’t you think your attitude is a bit out of Line? From now on, you don’t have to worry about me.

Just leave me alone. I am no longer your accessory. I’m just waiting for our divorce certificate, so I can start a new life. We’d better get used to it as soon as possible.”

After saying this, Audrey stood up, took her phone back from Cornell, and put it on the bedside table.

Not knowing which part of her words irritated him, Cornell’s handsome face turned gloomier.

He was silent for a while. Then he sneered, “I’ll tell you why.”

Cornell approached Audrey and pushed her. Before she could figure out what he meant, he had already pressed her against the wall.

Audrey’s back hit the wall. But she didn’t feel much pain because Cornell’s hand immediately supported her back.

He then used his other hand to raise her chin, forcing her to look at him. His eyes darkened even more. He said in a hoarse voice, “Open your eyes and look at me.”

Cornell looked at Audrey for a while. Then he lowered his head, bit her lower lip, and kissed her. At first, it was a punishing kiss.

But little by little, it became passionate and deep.

Audrey’s mind went totally blank. She was so shocked that she almost forgot to breathe.

She didn’t even get the chance to think. She became more muddled when she felt Cornell’s tongue penetrating her mouth.

Audrey’s heartbeat went abnormally fast. It was as if her heart would jump out of her chest at any moment. She tried to push Cornell away with her left hand in vain.

Cornell was not moved by Audrey’s strength at all. Instead, he felt Audrey was like a kitten tickling his chest.

He looked at her beautiful face, and his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. His eyes were filled with lust, and his body became a little restless.

It had been more than half a month since the last time Cornell had slept with Audrey. Kissing her at this moment made him lose control of his desire. He could no longer hold on.
