“Then, I shall take my leave.” Magnus rose to his feet. Alora quickly stood up as well and peered into his eyes.
“Your Highness, I have something to talk with you in private,” Alora requested.
“Then, let’s go to your room,” Magnus said.
“My room?” Alora stopped blinking for a moment.
“Take the prince to your room, Alora,” Norman told his daughter.
“Yes, Father,” Alora said and asked Magnus to follow her. As soon as they reached Alora’s room, Magnus shut the door quickly, causing her to jolt at her place.
“What is it that you wanted to speak with me in private?” Magnus queried with an amusing smirk.
Alora locked her hands behind her back. “Your Highness, I suddenly recalled how you tried to give me signals. Why didn’t Your Highness directly tell me you wish to marry me?” She asked.
“I thought you were brainy enough to catch,” Magnus remarked, glancing around the room. “Your bed is small,” he observed, rushing to it. “The mattress is fluffy,” he added.
Alora turned and hurried to her bed. “Your Highness, don’t sleep here,” she urged, trying to pull him up. However, her efforts were in vain against Magnus’s weight.
Magnus relished her attempt to lift him and a mischievous grin crossed his lips. He seized her arm, drawing her down to him, a playful air lingering between them.
Alora’s nose almost brushed against his and her lips parted to breathe. She promptly pulled away from him and took a few steps away from him. By now, a tint of red had spread across her cheeks till her ears and she tightly clasped her fingers together.
“Why did His Highness d-do th-that?” Alora was totally flustered by his earlier act.
“What did I do? You were the one, who pulled me and then ended up falling over me. Our lips were supposed to pucker,” Magnus said, lingering his eyes on her red, plump lips.
Alora’s breath hitched to hear him and she stopped blinking for a few seconds. Magnus noticed every single expression formed on her face. She lowered her eyes and then, turned her back at him, not wanting him to look at her face.
Magnus smiled to see her cute reaction.
“Your Highness, will the King and the Queen allow a human to become your wife?” Alora asked for what she brought Magnus to her room.
“Don’t worry about them,” Magnus said and he straightened himself on the mattress. “I would not have asked your father and mother to give me your hand in marriage if I had any kind of doubts,” he clarified to her.
“Any other questions?” Magnus inquired her.
“No. This was my most important question, Your Highness,” Alora replied and pivoted on her sandals to peer at him. “I truly desire to marry, Your Highness. That way my family will be free of my responsibility. I thought to stay true to you,” she explained to him.
“Alora, for three hundred years, I have been unmarried. You see, no woman could charm me, but you are special. We will definitely marry tomorrow,” Magnus reassured her. His words provided a sense of relief to Alora and she smiled a little.
Magnus appeared before her and leaned close to her ear. “I shall leave now. Take rest. I’ll send a wedding outfit for you shortly,” he whispered and gradually moved back.
Patting her head, Magnus left her room. Alora smiled brightly and she began dancing in happiness. She lay on the mattress and took a deep breath in. “I will also have a husband and a big family,” she murmured.
Outside, Magnus instructed everyone to prepare for tomorrow’s marriage. He also told them the marriage would take place in the palace. Once he left, Rhea instructed the servants to start working for Alora’s marriage.
“Venus, go to your room and change your dress,” Rhea told her.
“I cannot believe Alora can look into Prince Magnus’s eyes,” Madam Aubrey said and gazed at Norman. “Do you think the royal vampire family will let Alora be their daughter-in-law? Prince Magnus was the only one, who didn’t desire to marry for a long time. Alora fancied him. This fact is hard to digest,” she raised her doubts.
“Mother, did you not see the affection the Prince carried for Alora? He was the one, who saved Alora and took her to the palace. I think Prince Magnus is Alora’s destiny,” Rhea opined. She was unable to hide her happiness and continued smiling.
“Magnus!” King Esmond was shocked to see his third son in the palace. “What are you doing here?” he asked with a bewildered gaze.
“Your Majesty, I’ve shifted permanently to the capital. From now onward, I’ll live in Velaris,” Magnus answered.
“Is Prince Magnus alright?” Queen Margaret asked as she entered the seating area. She stopped after standing in front of Magnus and placed her hands over his arms. “I’m glad you finally returned to Velaris.” Her smile widened as she was overjoyed to find that Magnus would now live in the palace.
Esmond asked his queen to sit beside him and even asked Magnus to take the seat. After they both were seated, Magnus continued.
“I have found a bride for myself,” Magnus suddenly announced to them.
“Prince Magnus is full of surprises today,” Esmond stated. “Who is this woman, who won your heart?” He was curious to know.
“Alora Wilson,” Magnus pronounced.
The colors from the King’s and Queen’s faces faded away. “Isn’t Alora the woman, who always wears the blindfold because of her cursed eyes? Correct me, if I’m wrong,” King Esmond stated.
“Absolutely. I’m talking about the woman on whose father’s request you sent a message for me in Elmswood not to trouble the humans,” Magnus responded with a taunting tone.
“You cannot marry Alora,” Margaret promptly opposed her son’s decision.
“I never asked for your opinions,” Magnus clarified to her. “Tomorrow Alora and I will marry. So, the palace’s every corner be decorated well,” he pronounced. “I can look into her eyes, so Alora’s eyes are definitely not cursed for me,” he explained to them.
“How did you even find out about Alora? Also, out of so many women among the vampires, you found a human who’s not normal,” Margaret complained. She was angry at his son for choosing such a woman to be his wife.
Magnus brushed his finger on his temple before lowering his hand down. “I shall take some rest. I’ll see you tomorrow in my marriage,” he pronounced and stood up.
“Magnus, how about you reconsider your decision?” Esmond asked his son.
“I don’t wish to. When I say I’ll marry Alora tomorrow, then I will,” Magnus affirmed.
“No one can look into Alora’s eyes. Then, how could you do that?” Margaret was slightly puzzled. She wondered if it was an indication of something bad that could happen to them.
