Chapter 22 – The Heiresss’ Revenge: Abandoned No More (Sandra Hill)

The USB drive was about to be read by the computer. If Sandra removed it after using it, his efforts would be wasted. Sandra, however, had no interest in what was on the drive and only wanted to finish quickly. Without hesitation, she hit the return key.

“Oh no, the screen went black!”

“No, our system has been hacked!”

“Who would dare hack our department?”

Most of the people in the technical department were men, and they cursed loudly without restraint.

Owen barked, “What are you waiting for? Solve the problem immediately!”

They quickly began fighting against the hacker.

But…

“Mr. Pope, it’s not working. The opponent is cunning and knows our vulnerabilities.”

Owen’s face darkened. “I created this firewall personally. How is it possible for it to have vulnerabilities? There must be something wrong.”

At that moment, someone conveniently noticed something unusual on Sandra’s computer.

“Look at Mrs. Cooper’s computer screen! It seems like programming is being done to infiltrate our company!”

Everyone was stunned by the accusation. Many of those who hadn’t been involved rushed over to Sandra’s desk.

They were all technically proficient, so they immediately recognized it as an “insider system.” This system would directly roam through any network of the Cooper Group, recording their secrets and sending them to its owner. Usually, an email would be used for this purpose.

Just when everyone thought they had wrongly accused Sandra, they saw the icon of an email appear on her computer screen.

Owen quickly opened the email and found the prepared message inside.

The content of the email was:

[You managed to infiltrate the system, and I’m happy about it. Please send me the Cooper Group’s secrets as soon as possible.]

Owen’s face darkened. “Sandra, is it really you?”

Sandra replied, “Owen, why can’t it be you?”

Owen was speechless.

“Go get Mrs. Debra Cooper.”

He instructed the people around him to leave, worried about exposure.

Soon, Debra arrived with members of the board of directors.

“Sandra, I know you want to get more shares. But you just married Wesley, and you don’t have much experience managing the company. I just wanted you to make progress slowly,” Debra said earnestly, taking on the appearance of a “great stepmother.”

“How could you do such things? You’re making it difficult for me!”

Sandra retorted, “What do you find difficult? Being an honest person? You really know yourself well.”

Debra was speechless. They had already fallen out.

Today was the official declaration of war.

“Sandra!”

Debra expressed her disappointment. “You’ve done something wrong! Do you really want me to send you to…”

People who stole company secrets would be arrested. Sandra raised her head, a glimmer of light flashing in her beautiful eyes.

“So, Mrs. Debra Cooper, you think I used the core of the technical department to attack the company’s network?”

As she spoke, she looked around. “What do you think?”

No one dared to speak.

Debra sneered. “Fine, I’m calling the police. Sandra, you better learn your lesson in jail and stop trying to get something for nothing!”

Things were getting tense.

Something crossed Sandra’s mind, and she suddenly asked, “You think I’m harming the company, but what if I’m doing something beneficial for the company?”

Debra thought she was talking nonsense. She snorted inwardly but had to maintain a concerned expression on her face.

“Sandra, if you still want shares, I will consider giving you some of mine. But you must stop causing trouble. If the company’s network crashes, we will suffer even more losses!”

Sandra grew impatient. “What if I’m doing something beneficial for the company?” She intentionally raised her voice, forcing everyone to face this question.

Debra’s expression stiffened. No one had dared to yell at her like this before! Sandra was so bold!

Owen sneered. He was intimately familiar with the code, so he knew what was on Sandra’s computer.

“If you’re doing something beneficial for the company, I’ll give up my position to you.”

Sandra grinned. “Then what about you?”

“If I can’t understand such simple code, I’d better leave!” Owen said firmly.

The commotion in the technical department immediately attracted a lot of attention. Naturally, it was due to the company’s system being hacked, rendering these employees unable to work for the time being. The design department, which was located close to the technical department, was the first to receive the news. However, no one dared to intervene.

After all, Wesley, the head of the design department, was deeply focused on reviewing the design drawings. Everyone was curious but too apprehensive to make a move.

Joey entered the room with a document in hand, surprised to see everyone craning their necks to look outside. He handed the document to Wesley, but before he could say anything, Wesley spoke first.

“You seem quite eager to know what’s going on. Go ahead.”

Joey’s eyes widened at the remark. Wesley glanced up at him, looking displeased.

“Aren’t you going to push the wheelchair?” Wesley asked.

Confused, Joey walked over and held onto the wheelchair. He hadn’t applied any force, yet the wheelchair moved forward on its own.

Joey was speechless. He had no choice but to follow along. To others, it seemed like Joey was rushing to the scene of the commotion in the technical department.

Joey couldn’t explain, but with Wesley moving, the employees quickly gathered at the entrance of the technical department.

Debra sighed.

“Owen, don’t get so worked up.” She then turned her attention to Sandra.

“Sandra, since we discovered this before you made too many mistakes, let’s just forget about the whole situation.”

Owen pretended to be furious. “Mrs. Debra Cooper, I know you want peace, but this is the Cooper Group!” He frowned. “Sandra is indeed new here. She may not be skilled, and she may even be lazy or unwilling to work, but she would never intend to steal company secrets. Still, we can’t keep a thief in the technical department!”

The others in the department echoed his words, eager to have Sandra kicked out of the company immediately.

Debra put on an expression of dilemma. “Sandra didn’t do it on purpose. I believe she won’t do this again.” She looked sincerely at Owen. “Take it easy. It’s more important to get the system back online.”

Owen pressed his lips together. “Mrs. Debra Cooper, she can stay in the company, but the technical department cannot accept her.”

Debra sighed.

The employees began whispering among themselves.

“Is she trying to take control of the company? She’s overthinking.”

“Mrs. Debra Cooper never intended to compete with her. She’s just an ignorant country bumpkin!”

“She probably didn’t even go to college. She doesn’t deserve to be deputy director.”

“Imagine trying to steal company secrets on her first day. How stupid.”

Taking advantage of the moment, Owen applied more pressure. “Mrs. Debra Cooper, you owe us an answer!” After a dramatic pause, he deliberately raised his voice. “It’s me or her!”

Outside the door, Joey stood beside Wesley, looking uneasy. “Mr. Cooper, should I go in and help Mrs. Cooper?”

Wesley remained calm, as if he wasn’t worried at all.

Sandra remained calm. “No need.”

Joey whispered, “What if Mrs. Cooper is really expelled from the company? It will be difficult for you to stay in the design department.”

A slight smirk appeared on Wesley’s lips. “She won’t.”

Joey was confused.

What did Wesley mean? Sandra wouldn’t be kicked out of the company? Did she understand coding?

Wesley stopped speaking and fixed his deep eyes on Sandra.

Sandra, focused on the computer screen, pressed the keys with determination and ease, effortlessly navigating the code. It was clear she knew exactly what she was doing, unlike someone who had never used a computer before.

“That’s it.”

While everyone was discussing how to get rid of her from the company, Sandra suddenly spoke up.

Everyone fell silent.

Debra didn’t even get a chance to announce Sandra’s expulsion from the company before the atmosphere changed. The entire technical department was now focused on her.

“Mr. Pope, take a look.”

Sandra stood and made room for Owen.

Owen scoffed and approached the computer without even glancing at her.

The code on the screen was scrolling rapidly. But as an experienced technician, he could still understand it despite the speed.

Realizing what the code represented, his face drained of color.

“How is this possible?”

As the director, Owen had always been composed and never lost his cool in front of others, but now he was visibly shaken.

The rest of the technical department rushed forward, eyes wide with disbelief.

The code that had once infiltrated the company’s system was now strengthening its firewall.

Everyone gasped in shock.

Debra had a bad feeling, and her face turned pale with anger. “What’s going on? What is happening here?”

Sandra shrugged. “I’m just an ignorant village girl. Let Mr. Pope explain.”

Owen rubbed his face, trying to calm himself down.

He took a deep breath and gritted his teeth.

“The code Sandra wrote earlier wasn’t attacking the company’s system. It was actually maintaining the company’s firewall.”
