She looked at the patient’s room from a distance.
The door was tightly locked, and it was eerily quiet.
But with the current temperature, without air conditioning and with the doors and windows closed, it would be suffocating inside.
“Mr. Cooper, would you like to play chess with me? I’m not very good at it, so I could learn from you.”
Wesley had Joey fetch the chess set he had prepared and sat opposite Adam.
Sandra instantly understood. The person inside the room was significant, so Wesley couldn’t enter.
She entered alone, noticing the surveillance camera above.
When she first stepped inside, Sandra immediately felt the heat. But despite the thick quilt covering him, the person on the bed still felt icy.
He heard the door and slowly turned over.
Sandra finally saw his face clearly.
It was Jefferson Kenith, the high-profile figure who had been in the news recently.
It was said that Jefferson had been training the country’s special forces and only appeared when necessary. This time, he had come to Geniston for medical treatment.
Now, he was as stiff as a piece of wood.
Unfortunately, all the doctors had told him the same thing: he could only take medication for now. Even though he had changed hospitals, the prescriptions remained the same.
Sandra stepped forward slowly.
Jefferson appeared frail, his complexion pale, his breath weak. Sandra noticed that his gaze was unfocused. He opened his mouth but closed it again without saying a word.
She sighed. Jefferson was in critical condition. Without treatment, he would die within a month or two.
She immediately sat down and took his pulse.
She had always admired national heroes, so she was particularly careful when examining Jefferson.
After finding the right acupoints, she took out her silver needles and pierced them into his forehead.
Her speed and accuracy were astonishing.
Jefferson’s condition stabilized significantly.
She wrote a prescription and handed it to Adam outside.
Soon, the herbal medicine was brought over.
Sandra helped Jefferson sit up and let him slowly take the medicine.
At first, Jefferson refused to open his mouth, so she pressed his acupoints and forced him to take it.
She even rewarded him with candy.
Jefferson was speechless. Did she treat him like a three-year-old?
He sighed helplessly.
“Little girl, are you a doctor?”
Sandra was resting in a chair. Hearing his question, she glanced at him.
“You’ve recovered well. You can get out of bed now.”
Jefferson felt a bit embarrassed.
Before, he had been resolute and decisive, with his words always being law.
This was the first time he had been treated like a child.
It was humiliating.
Jefferson spoke slowly.
“What’s your name?”
He felt that she resembled someone from his past.
Sandra told him her name and then reminded him,
“You must rest for three months.”
Jefferson frowned. “Three months?”
“Yes, and if you don’t listen to me, I can’t guarantee what will happen.”
Under Sandra’s serious gaze, a glimmer of light flashed in Jefferson’s eyes.
She truly resembled that person.
His tone softened considerably.
“Little girl, I’m not as free as you think.”
Sandra frowned. “Don’t call me little girl.”
Before going out, she had been called Ms. Hill or Mrs. Cooper, which she had thought was quite respectable.
Now, she felt as though she was being scolded by her master.
She wasn’t pleased.
Jefferson smiled.
“Your temper…”
Her temper was much like that person’s.
But he didn’t voice it aloud.
Sandra looked at him, her frown deepening. “Something’s not right about you.”
Jefferson asked calmly, “What? Am I unstable?”
“No.”
Sandra became a little irritated. “Don’t try to see someone else in me.”
Jefferson’s expression shifted slightly.
He had underestimated Sandra.
“Alright, take your medication, and you’ll get better.” With that, Sandra walked out.
Adam and Wesley were waiting outside.
Sandra had been inside for three to four hours, and they were both very worried.
Adam had even broken out in a cold sweat.
When he saw her, he felt a wave of relief, as though he had come back to life.
“How is he?”
Sandra rubbed her temples. “You’ll see.”
Upon hearing this, Adam rushed inside excitedly.
“General, are you really okay now?”
Then, Adam’s surprised voice came from inside.
Sandra rubbed her ears and looked at Wesley, who was in the wheelchair. “Let’s go.”
Wesley didn’t intend to leave immediately, but he raised his hand to stop her.
Sandra frowned. Was something wrong?
Soon, a dozen bodyguards appeared from around the corner.
These bodyguards exuded a murderous aura, and they were staring at them.
They didn’t seem to be Adam’s subordinates.
Sandra sighed. “It’s already annoying being brought here, and now I have to clean up their mess.”
Wesley looked at Joey and asked, “Can you handle these people?”
Joey counted them, estimating their combat power.
“Mr. Cooper, could things here be damaged?”
Sandra chuckled. “Go ahead. Mr. Deleon will be responsible.”
Joey immediately cheered up. “Okay!”
He rushed forward and began fighting with the bodyguards. Joey managed to stop all of them from approaching Wesley alone.
He was indeed skilled.
Sandra raised an eyebrow.
“Who’s Joey’s master?”
Wesley’s voice was quiet, but it cut through the sounds of the fight and reached her ears.
“He taught himself.”
Sandra was speechless.
So, Joey was a genius?
Joey quickly knocked down all of the bodyguards.
Sandra walked over. “I overestimated them.”
Joey cautiously protected her, keeping a close eye on the bodyguards. “Who sent you?”
Sandra bent down and looked at one of the bodyguards, sensing the resentment in his eyes.
She immediately took out a silver needle and inserted it directly into his neck.
The man collapsed to the ground, numb from the neck down.
