A hush fell over the crowd, broken only by excited murmurs.
“Oh, my God! Who is that woman? She’s gorgeous!”
“My goodness. What an entrance!”
Amidst the excited chatter, Khloe suddenly leapt from the helicopter cabin, triggering her automatic parachute. Sunlight bathed her as the parachute unfurled in a breathtaking display, like wings guiding her descent.
She glided smoothly to the ground, her landing as graceful as an angel’s. As soon as her feet touched the ground, Khloe cut the parachute cords with practiced grace. Buzzing with excitement, the crowd peered at her with curiosity until someone shouted, “That’s Khloe Evans!” At this, surprised gasps rippled through the crowd. In the distance, the Evans family rose from their seats in shock.
In a daze, Sloane lost her footing and tumbled down the stairs, howling all the way.
The servants immediately sprang into action, rushing in to help her, but it was too late.
Her once-pristine hairstyle was now a disheveled mess, and her once-crisp gown was now matted and wrinkled. No one had anticipated that Khloe would make such a dramatic entrance at Sloane and Eric’s engagement party, leaving Sloane, the intended star of the event, in the shadows.
Lorraine’s expression hardened, an ominously dark cloud settling over her features.
She shot one of the Evans family members a meaningful look, and the latter immediately understood what to do.
“Khloe, how dare you show your face here? After causing your stepmother’s miscarriage, you have the audacity to disrupt your stepsister’s engagement party. Unbelievable!”
Sure enough, the words snapped the crowd out of their reverie, their awe at Khloe’s beauty quickly turning to disdain.
“That’s right! Wasn’t she put behind bars for hurting Lorraine? What’s she doing out in public?”
“I heard she’s always been arrogant and ruthless. As if pushing her own stepmother down the stairs wasn’t bad enough, she even stole Sloane’s academic patent and claimed it as her own!”
“How can someone so heartless even exist? What a disgrace!”
In moments, Khloe became the object of their disdain, the villain of the night.
But even as whispers turned to sneers, Khloe stood unfazed at the heart of it all, her gaze steady.
“This is my stepsister’s engagement party, after all. I had to come,” she announced calmly, a cool, mocking smile playing on her lips.
She strode forward gracefully, her luxurious gown trailing behind her.
Only then did the crowd notice that her dress was backless, revealing the graceful line of her spine.
The curves of her figure were mesmerizing, yet the exposed skin didn’t render her trashy or cheap. On the contrary, she exuded a refined air akin to that of royalty. She paused before Sloane and Eric, her face a blend of amusement and indifference.
Eric, holding the flustered Sloane close, couldn’t help but gawk at Khloe.
A flash of admiration momentarily flickered in his eyes before his expression darkened.
“Khloe, today is my engagement party. Don’t even think about interfering. In fact, I think you should leave now!”
Unexpectedly, Sloane tightened her grip on Eric’s hand.
“Eric, don’t be so harsh on her,” she said sweetly, feigning a smile at her stepsister. “Khloe, no matter why you’re here, I believe at the end of the day, you just want to offer us your blessings. Today, just let the engagement ceremony proceed properly, okay? After all, we’re family!”
Her words were carefully sweet, stirring sympathy among the guests.
“Sloane is so kind! I can’t believe she’s willing to tolerate her bitch of a stepsister.”
“She’s always been the dignified one in the Evans family. Khloe, on the other hand, gets tangled in scandals left and right.”
Even Eric, who was seething with rage just moments ago, looked to her with admiration.
Only Khloe could see the hint of disdain and jealousy in her stepsister’s eyes. Her lips curved into a dazzling smile. “Alright, Sloane, but first, I’ve brought a rather grand gift for you.”
She raised her hand and snapped her fingers, the sound crisp in the tense air.
Boom!
The helicopter swooped to the center of the venue, its powerful gusts whipping across the crowd as everyone looked up in confusion.
Then, photos began to flutter down like snowflakes, scattering in all directions.
At first, guests squinted in puzzlement, but as they glimpsed the images, eyes widened, and whispers of shock rippled through the crowd.
In the photos, Sloane appeared in compromising, indulgent poses, entwined with men. One of them was her much older doctoral advisor.
More photos kept coming, drifting through the air like snow. One photo floated down right in front of Eric.
He picked it up, his face darkening with outrage, his hand trembling as he took in the image.
Sloane’s complexion turned ghostly pale, her body swaying as though she was on the verge of passing out.
Meanwhile, Khloe’s eyes sparkled with satisfaction, her smile as radiant as it was ruthless.
“Sloane, do you like the gift I so thoughtfully prepared for you?”
“Sloane! Care to explain these photos?” Eric’s usual charm vanished, replaced by a dark, menacing glare as he seized her arm, his voice sharp with accusation.
