Chapter 38 – Framed by Family. Saved by Mafia

Eric’s rage exploded. His face turned crimson, his fists clenched as if he were ready to strike. “Khloe, you’re a madwoman! Sloane has shown nothing but kindness and forgiveness, yet you continue to insult and slander her. You’re nothing but a selfish, shameless disgrace. No wonder the Evans family cast you aside-no one has any use for someone like you!”

As Eric’s words rang out, the room buzzed with murmurs of agreement, and more guests began to turn on Khloe, their voices rising in condemnation.

“Khloe has gone too far. How can she talk about her sister like that?”

“Exactly, Sloane has always been kind, yet Khloe can’t even appreciate it. This is pure malice.”

“The Evans family raised her all these years, and only now have they finally cast her out. It’s a shame they didn’t do it sooner. She’s got a pretty face, but inside? Rotten!”

Khloe glanced at those speaking, her eyes cold and calculating. These were the people who had grown close to Sloane in recent years.

Khloe remembered each one of them and made sure to deal with them all in due time, repaying their discomfort a hundredfold.

“Shut your mouths! Do you even know what you’re talking about?” Khloe’s voice cut through the room, icy and unforgiving.

“How dare you talk to my guests like that, Khloe? You’re out of line!” Eric snapped, his patience wearing thin. “Security! Get this madwoman out of here!”

But Khloe didn’t flinch. Calmly, she pulled a small device from her purse, a cruel smile spreading across her lips. “You want to throw me out? Eric, you should watch this.” As she hit the play button, the lights dimmed, and a projection appeared on the wall of the banquet hall-her high-tech surveillance system playing a real-time replay of Sloane’s actions.

The crowd fell silent as Sloane’s face flickered onto the screen, her eyes gleaming with a triumphant smile as her hand reached for Khloe’s chest, targeting the diamond necklace.

Khloe’s outburst was triggered by Sloane’s clear intent to damage the necklace.

“This is your so-called kind and innocent Sloane.” Khloe’s voice was laced with venom. “Because I stole her spotlight, she wanted to destroy the priceless necklace around my neck-her way of getting back at me. What a hypocrite!”

The room erupted into gasps of disbelief.

Sloane’s face drained of color, her body frozen in horror. Eric stood motionless, his mind racing as the world around him seemed to spin.

Sloane stood frozen, panic flooding her senses as tears welled up in her eyes. Her face turned as pale as a ghost, and her body trembled involuntarily. “I didn’t mean to. It was just a spur-of-the-moment thing.”

Khloe’s lips twisted into a cruel, mocking grin, while her eyes were locked onto Sloane with a chilling intensity. “Didn’t mean to? How convenient. But your little lapse of judgment has come with a steep price. Do you know how much this necklace is worth? A billion dollars. Since you claim it was just an accident and act like the so-called virtuous Evans heiress, I’m sure you can easily cover this.”

One billion!

The revelation of the price sent shockwaves through the crowd. The sheer value of the necklace Khloe wore completely shattered their perception of the situation.

Sloane’s lips quivered uncontrollably as she struggled to speak, unable to form a single word to challenge the staggering price.

She could still clearly remember seeing the auction price herself.

That damn Khloe, why did she have to have footage of this? Confronted with the overwhelming demand for compensation and the undeniable proof, a flicker of regret began to gnaw at Sloane’s conscience.

Her eyes clouded with fear and helplessness. “A billion? How could I ever pay that?”

Khloe didn’t let up, her brows furrowing in disdain as her voice cut through the tension. “Can’t pay it? Then why didn’t you think about the consequences when you made your move? Did you really think you could act without consequences just because of your carefully cultivated public image and fame?”

As the tension grew, the guests around the banquet hall started murmuring among themselves, their whispers rising in volume.

“A billion-dollar necklace? Incredible! I’ve never seen anything that expensive. The most expensive piece at the Royal Auction last year in Oninard was only two hundred million, and that was for top-tier gems!”

“I can’t believe Sloane would stoop so low. It’s true what they say-you never really know who someone is until they show their true colors.”

“I never thought Khloe would be wearing something so expensive. It looks like after leaving the Evans family, she hasn’t been as desperate as everyone thought. If anything, she seems to have a pretty powerful background.” Meanwhile, the live stream chat was flooded with reactions.

“A billion-dollar necklace? That’s unbelievable!”

“Wow, a billion! Now I get Khloe. If someone tried to mess with my billion-dollar necklace, I wouldn’t just slap them; I’d be ready to kill them!”

“So this is the real Sloane Evans? I can’t believe I ever liked her!”

After watching the surveillance footage and learning the astronomical value of the necklace Sloane tried to ruin, the viewers quickly sided with Khloe.

Yet, some of Sloane’s loyal supporters tried to defend her, sparking a heated debate among the viewers.

Inside the banquet hall, Eric couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.

He had never imagined Sloane would be so careless and bold, going so far as to openly try and destroy Khloe’s things right in front of everyone.

But the mention of the billion-dollar price tag finally made him realize that this was the same necklace bought by the anonymous bidder in the private box.

Khloe couldn’t possibly afford that kind of money, nor could Karl.

Could it be true that Khloe has actually found herself a new sugar daddy?

The thought of it made Eric’s brow tighten in frustration, stirring a rage within him that burned hotter than the anger he felt over Khloe humiliating Sloane.

Eric’s face grew serious as he looked at Khloe. “Khloe, even if Sloane was in the wrong, the necklace isn’t damaged, and she’s still your sister. Why make such a big deal out of it and cause a scene in front of everyone?”

Khloe turned to him sharply, her eyes cold with fury, her voice growing more biting. “Eric, stop acting like the knight in shining armor! What exactly do you mean by me making a big deal? Sloane did something vile, and instead of calling her out for her malicious behavior, you’re blaming me?

Open your eyes-this isn’t just some random piece of junk; it’s a billion-dollar necklace! If you’re going to try to guilt trip me, at least use your head!”

Eric’s face instantly flushed bright red at her comment. While Khloe’s lips twisted into a grin that was anything but kind, her voice was laced with heavy sarcasm. “Oh, of course, you’re always this oblivious, aren’t you? Remember back when we were together? You were flirting with Sloane while dating me. You couldn’t even find the time to care for me when I was bedridden with a cold from working on experiments, but you rushed to the hospital to be with her. Then, when I was abroad for a competition, you stayed back to throw a party for Sloane’s birthday. You two were already tangled up long before, yet now you’re acting like I’m the one at fault? Who is really the shameless one here, me, or you two disgusting hypocrites?”
