Chapter 39 – Framed by Family. Saved by Mafia

Khloe’s bombshell revelations stunned the crowd, leaving them in shocked silence.

Khloe’s words exposed Eric’s secret, causing his expression to waver. His eyes scanned the room nervously, unable to meet her gaze.

The guests at the banquet were left in stunned silence, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

One lady covered her mouth in astonishment, murmuring, “Oh my goodness, this is too much.”

Meanwhile, the live stream chat exploded with comments.

“This twist is wild. Who knew there was so much drama behind closed doors?”

“Now it all makes sense. Khloe took Sloane’s role as part of a revenge plot. Go, girl, show those cheaters what they deserve!”

“That’s nonsense. Khloe’s lying. Sloane would never do something like that.”

Sloane, sensing the tide turning against her, quickly spoke up in her defense. “Khloe, you’re mistaken. There was nothing between Eric and me back then. If anyone is to blame, it’s me, but don’t accuse Eric! I looked up to him, and when I had a car accident and my mom was abroad, I just asked him for help. There was no betrayal.”

Moved by Sloane’s words, Eric regained his composure and shot back at Khloe, “You’re spreading lies. Nothing happened between Sloane and me. You’re the one with the twisted mind, seeing filth in everything. Sloane is far kinder than you, and you can’t hold a candle to her.”

Khloe stepped forward, her gaze cold and piercing as she glared at both Eric and Sloane. “Then explain what you were doing in the Evans family garden at my birthday party three years ago. You kissed Sloane there. Was sneaking around at my birthday a thrill for you? How disgusting!”

Her frosty stare seemed to cut through Eric and Sloane, making it impossible for them to meet her eyes.

Eric froze, the memory of Khloe’s cold, distant demeanor flooding his mind. She had always been so reserved, never once holding his hand, not even on her birthday. Frustrated, Eric had drunk too much that night and wandered into the garden to clear his head.

But in his drunken stupor, he had mistaken Sloane for Khloe and kissed her.

He had been petrified that Khloe would discover the truth, but Sloane had sworn to keep it hidden.

How did Khloe know about it now?

Eric had no clue that Sloane, who seemed so kind and thoughtful, had been teasing Khloe after her time in prison, intentionally exposing the kiss to provoke her.

As the truth sank in, Eric’s face flushed bright red, sweat beading on his forehead as his rage exploded. “You’re the one without shame. You were the one sleeping with other men, and those wedding photos. If it weren’t for them, I would have married you, you deceitful woman!”

“Me, deceitful?” Khloe’s laugh broke through his outburst, sharp and mocking. “You can cheat, but I can’t? Eric, you’re a hypocrite.”

Her voice was calm, each word landing like a sharp blow. “I’d rather be with any man than ever want you, you worthless scoundrel. As a fiance, Eric, you’re a total failure!”

Her words were like a blow, shattering whatever dignity Eric had left. The heir to the Watson family stood stripped of the grace he was expected to uphold.

“Khloe Evans! Get out!”

In a moment of uncontrolled fury, he raised his hand, preparing to slap her.

Suddenly, a booming voice from nearby stopped him in his tracks. “You disgraceful brat! Stop right there!”

A resounding slap cracked through the tense air, leaving a vivid red mark on Eric’s cheek.

His eyes shot open in shock as he turned, unable to believe the source of the blow-Harold Watson, the patriarch of the family, his own father.

Eric’s blood ran cold. What had he done? Just moments ago, he had come dangerously close to striking Khloe in front of everyone.

But she was too infuriating!

Sloane, equally shocked, hurried forward to defuse the escalating tension. “Mr. Watson, please! Don’t let your anger cloud your judgment! Eric was just upset. He was trying to defend the family’s honor! Khloe’s words were damaging, spreading lies about both Eric and me, tarnishing the Watson name!”

Harold’s eyes narrowed, a sharp, icy glare landing on her. “Sloane, mind your tongue. Do you truly believe someone like Khloe would stoop to your level and slander you? Have you already forgotten the lengths you went to in your pursuit of Eric?”

Sloane’s face drained of color as her composure crumbled under the weight of his words. She hadn’t anticipated the head of the Watson family siding with Khloe.

The illusion of fragility she’d so carefully cultivated vanished. Her knees felt weak.

Harold’s gaze was now laden with layers of meaning as he looked at Khloe.

His actions weren’t driven solely by honor. He had recently learned that Khloe had been appointed the new decision-maker at Evergreen Capital, a position brimming with power and influence.

The Watson family could soar to new heights if they earned her favor.

With that realization, Harold’s voice grew stern as he turned back to Eric. “Apologize to Khloe. Now.”

Eric didn’t dare defy his father. With gritted teeth, he lowered his head, muttering to Khloe, “I’m sorry.”

Khloe looked at him with cold indifference before she turned to leave.

Harold stepped forward, his tone softening as he addressed Khloe. “I know Eric has acted foolishly. He was misled in the past, unable to understand his own feelings. You two truly belong together. Why not give him another chance? If you’re willing, I’ll make sure to remove anyone standing in your way.”

Sloane’s fear was palpable now. She stared at Khloe, dreading the woman’s response.

Khloe stopped in her tracks. The room fell silent as all eyes were on her. Her serene expression twisted into a mocking smile, her eyes gleaming with chilling calm.

“Mr. Watson, I don’t waste my time with trash. It belongs in the garbage.” She contemptuously gestured towards Sloane, her tone light and mocking. “There’s someone here who loves collecting garbage. I wish them a long and happy life together.”

Without another word, Khloe walked away, leaving the room in stunned silence, her departure as striking as her entrance.
