As the compliments flowed, Sloane’s sense of triumph grew even stronger. She was on top now; no matter how bright Khloe had shone in the past, she was beneath her now.
Surrounded by skeptical stares and loud chatter, Khloe seemed entirely unfazed.
But when Sloane noticed Khloe’s composed expression, a ripple of unease stirred within her. Her eyes were locked on Khloe, searching for any sign of weakness in that calm expression.
Yet Khloe’s calmness was like an impenetrable barrier, rendering her scrutiny useless.
Could Khloe still turn things around? Impossible! She had already nailed it.
Brett continued marking the exam papers, his hand moving mechanically across the pages.
Suddenly, a shudder ran through him. His eyes widened in disbelief, and his face contorted with shock.
The students, who had been showering Sloane with compliments, gradually fell silent. A sense of tension filled the room, as if everyone was holding their breath, waiting for something to happen.
After a long pause, Brett finally looked up, his voice shaky as he muttered, “How could this be?”
Sloane felt a knot of unease tightening in her stomach. Brett’s face turned pale, and he slumped into his chair. “This time, Khloe is the winner.”
The room fell silent in stunned disbelief; Khloe had won.
Gwyn, still in shock, blurted out, “No way! You must be mistaken! Sloane already had a perfect score!”
Brett shook his head in anguish. He didn’t want this outcome, especially after being bribed. He wished desperately that he could announce that Khloe had lost.
But Khloe had even cracked the final bonus question on the test.
It was a famous unsolved math problem-one that fewer than five people in the world could solve, and even he had failed to do it.
No one could deny it after seeing her paper-Khloe had won.
Clinton stepped forward and picked up the paper. As he read through it, his face lit up with joy, and admiration gleamed in his eyes.
“Khloe’s solution is both unique and inventive,” he said, his voice full of respect. “The steps are clear and concise, and her reasoning is flawless. Every answer is spot on. What’s more, she even solved a famous unsolved math problem.”
The mention of the renowned problem sent waves of excitement through the room.
Everyone knew just how important and difficult this classic problem was.
Gwyn’s mouth hung open, her eyes wide with shock. “How is this possible? The unsolved problem? It’s stumped so many mathematicians!”
Sloane felt completely crushed as she whispered to herself, “No way, this is impossible. How could she have solved it?” She had lost. Even with her underhanded tricks, Khloe had beaten her completely.
Was it possible that she would never be able to outshine Khloe?
The thought hit her hard, leaving her weak and on the verge of collapse. In that instant, Dorothy rushed forward to steady her.
Gwyn, however, pointed at Khloe, her voice growing louder with anger. “This isn’t fair. You purposely hid your abilities and set up this bet. Look at how you’ve been bullying Sloane.”
Khloe smirked, her gaze sharp with disdain. “Just earlier, you were all so sure Sloane would defeat me and have me thrown out. Now that she’s failing, you’re calling it bullying? You really don’t know when to stop, do you?”
Gwyn was speechless, her face flushing with anger. Dorothy interrupted, “Khloe, don’t get too cocky. Even if you won by sheer luck, that doesn’t mean you’ll always be this lucky.”
Khloe crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, a mocking smile playing on her lips. “Lucky? If you think it’s all luck, then why don’t you show me some of your own? If you don’t have the skills, all you seem to do is make noise about it. Sloane, a deal’s a deal. It’s time for you to keep your word and leave school on your own.”
Tears flowed down Sloane’s face, her expression one of utter despair. “Khloe, please, I don’t want to leave school. Don’t make me do this.”
Khloe glanced at her tear-streaked face with no sign of pity and responded coldly, “When you agreed to that bet, did you ever imagine it would come to this?”
Sloane desperately clung to Dorothy’s arm, her voice trembling as she pleaded, “Dorothy, please, you have to help me. I can’t drop out.”
Dorothy stormed up to Khloe, her finger jabbing in the air as she cursed, “You’ve done enough awful things. It’s just a competition, for heaven’s sake! You’re taking this too far. You two are supposed to be family.”
Khloe’s gaze hardened, tinged with disdain. “When she spread lies about me and dragged all of you into causing me trouble, did she ever think she’d have to face the fallout? None of you are getting away with this.”
The tension in the classroom grew thick, almost suffocating.
Gwyn’s face contorted in fury as she scrambled to grab her phone, shouting, “Someone, get this wretch out of here!” A few imposing bodyguards appeared at the door, stepping into the room and surrounding Khloe like a wall. The students were so shocked by the sudden turn of events that they held their breath, eyes wide with fear, as they watched everything unfold.
Khloe remained unshaken, her gaze sweeping over the bodyguards with a calm that sent a chill down their spines. “Do you really think you can intimidate me?”
The bodyguards, thrown off by her confident stance, paused, their movements faltering in hesitation.
Seeing the bodyguards hesitate, Gwyn screamed in frustration, “What are you waiting for? Do something and get her!”
The bodyguards, now more determined, moved towards Khloe once again.
Khloe, with lightning reflexes, sidestepped the first guard’s attempt to grab her, spun around, and sent another guard crashing to the floor with a well-placed kick.
“Ah!” The guard let out a pained groan as he crumpled to the floor.
As the situation shifted against them, the other bodyguards lunged at Khloe.
She quickly maneuvered around them, her movements swift and calculated. Her punches and kicks landed with precision, a clear result of the extensive training she’d received during her time with Henrik.
