“You don’t have a cellphone?”
“Yes.”
“What brand do you want?”
“I don’t… wa-“
“Samsung? iPhone?” He cut her off.
She had no idea about phones. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
“I’m not,” he said, and without another word, he placed an order for the latest, most expensive mobile phone for her.
They left after he paid the bills, and during the ride home, she fell asleep. Stealing glances at her as she rested on the seat, all he could do was smile. Half of his attention was on the road, while the other half was focused on checking if she was comfortable. He then took his phone, dialed a number with a coded name, and placed an earbud in.
The person picked up immediately.
“My lord,” he said, standing up quickly.
“Any disturbances over there?” Christian asked.
“Not at all, my lord.” Even though Christian wasn’t physically present, the man was bowing his head.
“Good. I want you to check something.”
“I’m with you, sir.”
“I’m going to send you a doctor’s report. Investigate it thoroughly. Hack through every surveillance camera. I want to know everything about that maid-whether it was truly attempted suicide or murder. I want to know the reason for either. You have twenty-four hours. Get back to me.”
“Yes, my lord!” The man hung up and immediately swung into action.
It’s an insult to have either attempted murder or suicide in my house. Who dares? Christian thought.
Meanwhile, in the sitting room, four of them were conversing as they watched their favorite movie. Three of them were half-dressed: Thalia was in a bra and shorts, while Dani and Maya were in transparent nightgowns. Alicia, on the other hand, wore a short, thin-sleeved pink gown, with her black purse on her lap. She had just arrived at Dani’s house.
“So, soon, I’ll be marrying the man of my dreams,” Alice said, grinning as she crossed her legs like a princess.
“So now he’s the man of your dreams? But you rejected marrying him just the other day,” Thalia scoffed.
They were watching Netflix and munching on snacks when the conversation shifted. Maya and Thalia had come to Dani’s house for a sleepover since her parents weren’t home. They began talking about why Alice hadn’t joined the sleepover as planned. Alice explained it was because she had been busy trying to get what belonged to her.
“That was then. The past can’t define the present. My decisions from yesterday are in the past, but my decision for today is what matters,” Alice said, as if it were no big deal.
“How about Ramses?” Dani asked. “He really loves you. He’s been calling me, saying he’s worried, but you haven’t been picking up his calls.”
“Talking about Ramses,” Thalia laughed. “What about Victor, the one you used and dumped?” She turned to Alice with a smirk. “What about Victor? What are you going to do about him?”
“He’s trash that can only be used and discarded, you can take him if you want though,” Alice said nonchalantly.
“He’s your trash to dispose of,” Thalia replied coldly.
“Why can’t you just stay with Ramses? Like Dani said, he’s been disturbing us, calling now and then,” Maya said, munching on her chips.
“Ramses is too toxic for me. He talks too much, always calling, always messaging. He wouldn’t even show me to his family. Who knows… he’s suffocating me. I need a break,” Alice replied, her tone frustrated.
“Oh, now he’s toxic?” Thalia chuckled angrily. “Last time I checked, you were the one all over him, requesting that he keep the relationship a secret. And now? He’s suffocating you?”
“If I say he’s suffocating me, then yes, he is,” Alice said, looking away, unbothered. “I’m leaving. It’s like you guys just want to keep judging my decisions.” She grabbed her purse. “Are you going? Already?” Dani asked, trying to stop her.
“I’m leaving. Ashley’s birthday is in two days. I need to prepare myself,” Alice said, standing up.
“Wait a few more minutes…” Dani urged.
“Bye… take care of yourself,” Thalia cut Dani short, waving at Alice.
Alice was unbothered. She didn’t want any lectures or advice from any of them.
“So you’re not staying for the sleepover?” Maya asked, her mouth full of chips.
“Bye,” Alice waved without turning back, leaving them behind. She didn’t want them to mention Ramses anymore; it made her feel uncomfortable and guilty.
“You girls need to talk to her. She ruined her sister’s marriage and now wants to ruin another marriage,” Maya said.
“She’s just greedy and never satisfied. She’s never content with what she has. I’m sure she regrets not marrying the one they asked her to after seeing who he is and how wealthy and powerful he is,” Thalia said.
“I heard he’s the third richest,” Dani added.
“Calling him a billionaire is based on assumptions. If you want the real details about Christian Charles, check the media site run by one of his family members. He’s not just a tycoon or someone powerful. He owns the largest hacking organization, the biggest corporations, and companies across the globe. He’s a trillionaire. There are just too many mysteries surrounding him. Every time the media finds something about him, like a post or content, it gets taken down the next minute. He owns the kind of power that even the government or Interpol would approach him for help.”
“It makes me wonder and be curious. He’s that powerful and rich, but yet nothing much is said about him,” Dani wondered.
“Nothing much can be said about him because that’s how much he’s feared. If not for that site, I wouldn’t have any idea about all these things,” Thalia continued. “Here are two sets of people: the rich and powerful, where once you search online, you’ll find everything you need to know about them. Then, there’s another set that controls those people, a set with limited information online. The limited information you can access is controlled by those who are richer and more powerful. That’s who Christian Charles is-the youngest and darkest billionaire.”
“He’s indeed a mystery, such a mysterious man. And Alice is carelessly trying to get on his tail, not caring if she steps on it,” Dani said, becoming worried.
“Stop telling the kid not to play with fire. Let him play with it. Trust me, he won’t need to be warned next time,” Maya said, standing up to grab a chilled drink.
“That is, if the kid gets another chance to be careful,” Thalia corrected.
Dani sighed, looking worried. “Oh, Alice.”
She leaped with joy and excitement as she entered the room. She had left the maids on the veranda because she couldn’t contain her happiness in their presence any longer. “Yes!!” she shouted the moment she stepped inside and laughed out loud. “Mission accomplished,” she said between her laughter.
She overheard one of the maids gossiping about the chief maid and the master’s wife rushing Blue to the hospital. She guessed that the chief maid must have instructed her not to say a word about the master’s wife being rushed to the hospital. The fact that they weren’t back yet only confirmed that it was Clarisse who had been taken to the hospital, which meant one thing-her plan had worked.
“I pray she never returns,” she said with a giggle. “Now, it’s time to make my life a fairy tale like those in the novels-The Billionaire’s Maid Romance,” she suggested, laughing happily. The title was so pleasant to her ears that she started blushing deeply.
“Time for plan B-making Christian mine,” she said with a smile, then leaped to the bathroom, singing and dancing. She scrubbed her body thoroughly, dried off, and moisturized her skin. Standing before the mirror, she put on the red sexy lingerie she had bought and admired herself. She couldn’t stop staring at how sexy she looked.
“There’s no way Christian would resist this,” she said, blushing. “His wife will be in the hospital, so I’ll be the one pleasuring him tonight.” The image of Christian’s rough hands touching her body and his soft, wet lips sucking her neck, then taking one of her nipples into his mouth while playing with the other, filled her thoughts. The sensation surged through her as she rubbed her thigh and neck, beginning to feel a growing desire.
“This night is going to be hot,” she said, her face flushed and her breath quickening. She smiled and went to pick up her well-ironed maid’s black short gown from the bed. Slowly and seductively, she put it on. “With this dress, I’ll make him mine,” she assured herself, then picked up the white bow tie and put on her long black socks. Afterward, she wore the white apron and head ornament. Once everything was in place, she slipped on her Mary Janes shoes, checked her bag for a necklace, and put it on. She checked herself out one last time in the mirror before walking out, beaming.
She passed some maids who couldn’t help but glance at her.
“She looks different,” one of the maids said.
“I know, right? She looks so beautiful,” another maid said.
She overheard the compliments and felt a sense of fulfillment. Wait until I’m your boss. Those of you I don’t like will be fired, she thought to herself, smiling.
She decided to take a tour around the mansion, admiring everything that would soon belong to her. She started in the huge sitting room, taking in the beauty of the blue Colette and vamp sofas. They were arranged so elegantly around the table, and she loved the decorations, the interior design, the beautiful furniture, and the painting on the wall. She fell flat on her back on the couch, her eyes catching sight of the glass-faceted chandelier. It was so beautiful that she reached up to touch it, even though it was still far out of her reach. She noticed that each room had a different chandelier-some were simple bulbs, like those in the maid’s quarters, while others were made of crystals or capiz.
She stood up and walked outside to the garden, grinning at the fountain in the center of the building. She strolled toward the garage, loving and admiring the cars.
“Woah! Look at these babies!!” she shouted in excitement, already imagining herself in one of them. The garage was filled with expensive cars, not just expensive but the latest models-Mercedes Benz, Rose Noire Droptail, Rolls Royce Boatail, Pagani Zonda HP, and Bugatti in various colors.
“All these alone could feed my generations,” she exclaimed, touching them. “Which one should I pick as my favorite?” she cooed to herself, grinning as she eyed the white Lamborghini and the Rolls Royce. “I’ll decide later,” she said, then leaped away.
From the vast garden to the flower house, the cars, the fountain, and the mansion that screamed wealth and luxury-everything was a dream come true. It was everything a woman could ever want, and it boosted her confidence in making sure she carried out her plan, no matter what lengths she had to go to, even if it meant taking someone’s life.
Meanwhile, Blue moaned slightly as she shifted on the bed. The stench of antiseptic filled her nose, accompanied by a bit of bitterness and undertones of the artificial fragrance from soap and cleaners. Her eyes fluttered open, greeted by the sight of a white ceiling.
“You’re awake.”
