Chapter 29 – His Perfect Sin. My Perfect Revenge

A truck losing control on a busy street, heading straight for Chloe? No, someone was definitely targeting her.

Two groups, two different targets. Each going after the other.

“Mr. Rosewood, you should get your injury treated first,” Bruce suggested.

Eugene snapped out of his thoughts and noticed the blood on his collar. Bruce thought he was hurt, but Eugene knew better – it was Chloe’s blood.

It hit him then. Chloe had saved him twice. When the first shot came, she’d shoved him clear. When the next threat came, she’d pulled him in, shielding him.

Her speed was unreal. She’d dodged bullets meant for him. That wasn’t just quick – it was elite-level reflexes.

The wife of Myers Group’s CEO… No, they were divorced. She was supposed to have been a quiet homemaker. Yet she had skills that amazed him.

So what else was she hiding?

Now things were getting interesting.

Chloe had caught his attention from their first meeting. Now, he was even more fascinated.

“Mr. Rosewood, I’ll call a doctor,” Bruce said, turning to make the call.

“I’m fine,” Eugene stated firmly. “This isn’t my blood.”

Bruce understood immediately. He said nothing more, simply stepped back and waited.

David had quickly treated the cut on Chloe’s face and the scrape on her arm. The bleeding stopped in no time.

“Ms. Lewis, don’t worry. The mark on your face will heal quickly. We used our best ointment – there won’t be any scarring,” David explained gently.

“Thank you,” Chloe replied softly.

“Our staff will take you to your room. We’ll assign someone to look after you. If you need anything, just ask the nurse,” David said, personally walking her out of the treatment room.

“Actually… I’m really fine. I can walk by myself.” Chloe tried to protest.

“Just rest here and recover. Don’t worry about the cost – it’s taken care of,” a deep voice interrupted.

Chloe looked up and met Eugene’s handsome face.

“I…” Chloe started to protest, then stopped. She knew this was the city’s most expensive private hospital – way beyond most people’s budget. If Eugene was footing the bill, why say no? But then there was Robert…

“Just tell me what you need,” Eugene said, watching her internal debate.

Chloe hesitated, then met his focused gaze. “It’s… my son…” She needed to call Robert, but her phone was gone, lost in the earlier chaos.

Eugene didn’t hesitate. “Bruce, go pick up Ms. Lewis’s son.”

“Right away, sir.” Bruce gave a quick nod, then turned to Chloe. “Ms. Lewis, where is your son currently…”

Chloe opened her mouth to answer, then closed it again. She’d almost revealed the Riverville Prime Residence address – definitely not an address she wanted to give out.

“My phone got lost in all the commotion. Can I use yours to call my son?” She offered an apologetic smile. Having Bruce pick up Robert was fine, but she couldn’t let him go to the Riverville Prime Residence. She needed to tell Robert to meet somewhere else.

“Of course, Ms. Lewis…” Bruce stepped forward with a smile, starting to offer his phone when another voice cut through.

“Use mine.”

Eugene was already holding out his phone.

Bruce froze mid-step. Only a handful of people had Eugene’s private number, yet here he was casually offering his phone to a near-stranger.

Bruce didn’t offer his phone again, quietly slipping it back into his pocket.

Chloe looked at the offered device. Taking it without argument, she found it unlocked and quickly dialed Robert’s number.

Three rings later, the call connected.

“Hey, it’s Mommy!” Chloe spoke first.

A brief pause, then Robert’s voice came through. “Mommy? Where are you? Why isn’t your phone working?”

“Listen, I’m at the hospital. Wait outside the hotel entrance. A man will come get you…” Chloe got straight to the point, naming the hotel location.

“Got it, Mommy!” Robert understood immediately, agreeing without hesitation.

After a quick explanation, Chloe hung up and returned the phone. “Thanks.”

“I should be thanking you.” Eugene retrieved his phone.

Their fingers touched briefly. Chloe could feel the lingering warmth from his hand. She stared at her fingers for a moment.

Silence fell between them. The atmosphere turned awkward.

“Please escort Ms. Lewis to her room,” David finally said, breaking the tension.

Chloe didn’t protest, letting the medical staff guide her toward the patient rooms.

Eugene remained watching until Chloe disappeared down the hallway. “Give her anything she needs,” he stated simply.

“Of course,” David replied with a respectful smile.

Facing the primary investor of St. Mary’s Hospital, David knew his place. When the boss ordered, he didn’t dare to disobey.

*****

The hospital’s top floor housed exclusive VIP suites.

Ordinary patients never made it up here. St. Mary’s Hospital’s service was legendary – whatever you could imagine, they could provide. Eugene stood before floor-to-ceiling windows, the city spread out beneath him.

A cigarette hung between his fingers, smoke curling around him.

“Mr. Rosewood, we’ve confirmed Mr. Perea and Mr. Bratcher from the group orchestrated the attack. They just…” Bruce’s voice faded, leaving the implication hanging.

Eugene watched the distant skyline, the evening light fading. Another day was ending.

“I’ve been too generous with them.” Eugene’s cold smile appeared as he crushed out his cigarette. “Just deal with them the usual way. No need to waste ammo on these scumbags.”

Bruce bowed his head. “Understood.”

Eugene turned and left. Only after he’d gone did Bruce lift his head. Gripping his phone, he spoke to the person on the other end. “You heard Mr. Rosewood.”

“He never shows mercy.” Landon’s teasing voice came through. “Those two have been begging so hard here.

“They’ve learned their lesson now. Eugene won’t go easier on them?”

Bruce chuckled softly. “Mr. Rosewood never goes easy on enemies.”
