I looked down and realised I’d spilled the drink all over Louis. My eyes widened in horror as the glass fell to the floor and broke into three distinct pieces.
“Oh my goodness!” I said in surprise.
Louis also looked down at his suit as if just realising what I had done.
“I’m so sorry,” I apologised to Louis as I knelt and picked up the broken glass from the floor.
“What is wrong with you!? Are you paying attention?!” The supervisor beside Louis yelled at me.
“I’m so sorry,” I apologised profusely once again to Louis. I took a napkin on the table to try clean up the spilled juice.
What had I done? I asked myself. I had been so distracted by Louis’ gaze on me. Looks I didn’t have to worry about being found out. I was already going to be fired for my incompetence.
“It’s alright,” Louis said to me in a calm voice. It was a deep, stern but gentle voice all at the same time.
“Do you know how much a suit like this costs you stupi – ” the assistant continued to yell at me.
“Calm down Andrew, there’s no need to scare her. The ,” Louis interrupted him. “And you’re making our guest feel uncomfortable.”
Andrew frowned as he bit his lip in frustration. As if he was fighting not to say more to me.
The guest being the man they having the meeting with Louis and Andrew. He awkwardly stared at the situation before him.
“Excuse me for a moment I’m going to clean up and we can resume?” Louis explained to the guest.
“Yes, of course Mr Carrington,” the man said.
I was in the middle of trying to clean up some of juice on his suit. He then gently grabbed my hand. I looked up and met his golden eyes.
“It’s okay, I’ll clean up myself,” he told me.
I felt heat rush up my cheeks as I nodded and moved away from him. I got up from the floor with a tray containing the broken glass.
Louis got up and calmly left the room.
“Have this cleaned up properly,” Andrew ordered Josh and I. Though Andrew looked like he wanted to continue yelling at me but couldn’t because of the guest.
“Yes, sir,” Josh and I responded.
“Come on,” Josh said to me.
I left the room feeling numb. I’d really done it now I thought to myself. So much for not fucking up. Great. I guess I would have to solely focus on what I could do with my 50,000. I was going to lose my job.
We reached the kitchens and the manager turned to me having been informed of the situation.
” Jasmine, what the hell?” My manager yelled at me. “I thought I told you not to fuck up and you go right ahead and do it?” He asked me.
“I know I’m sorry Manager,” I said to him. “I wasn’t paying attention.” I explained to him.
The manager sighed. “The problem is Mr Gatwick, the CEO’s assistant, isn’t going to let this slide easily,” he said to me.
I remembered the way he was in the room. He looked like he was just about ready to have me thrown out if it weren’t for Louis.
“It’s fine I’ll finish the rest of their service and I’ll handle the situation and see if I can get him to let the situation go. Finish off serving in the main dining area in the mean time,” he instructed me.
“Yes, sir,” I accepted.
I then proceeded to finish of lunch service. After lunch service the manager and Andrew came and gathered all the staff in the kitchen,
“As you know there was an incident with the CEO this afternoon,” he said. “One of you idiots stupidly and carelessly spilled a drink on the CEO and no less during a very important business meeting.” He eyes narrowed as they landed on me.
A shiver ran down my spine and I stepped forward. “I’m so sorry sir,” I apologised to Andrew.
“Save it,” he said to me and held his hand for me to stop. “You are extremely lucky the CEO has decided to overlook the incident because I would have had you fired,” he spat at me.
Well he certainly hated me I thought to myself. He was so rude and crass with his comments. So I wasn’t getting fired? I thought to myself.

“Michael, why didn’t you have a younger more pleasing waitress serve us,” he said to the manager and then winked at Megan. Megan’s expression then changed to one of visible disgust after that comment.
“At least if she made a mistake her innocence would be more easy to forgive.” Andrew went on.
That comment left a bad taste in in my mouth. Andrew looked like he was in late 40’s and Megan was literally 20. How disgusting.
“I apologise Mr Gatwick,” the manager said to him. “I swear that an incident like this won’t happen again.”
Andrew, Mr Gatwick scoffed at that. “Make sure to hire competent people,” he said to the manager.
After yelling for a while Andrew then left the kitchens to join Louis who had already left after their lunch meeting.
“I hate that guy,” Megan commented once he left.
“Mr Gatwick isn’t my favourite person either but we have no choice but to appease him. “Alright, lunch break for everyone and we start dinner preparations.” He announced.
The manager then turned to me. ” Luckily the CEO was gracious and understanding of the situation and calmed Mr Gatwick who was ready to have you fired.”
“I’m grateful to the CEO then,” I said.
I wanted to sigh in relief at the fact that I hadn’t been fired but I was still wary of Louis who definitely recognized me. I couldn’t get the look of recognition out of my mind. I didn’t see him again after he left the room to clean up.

A few hours later and it was the end of my shift. As I left the restaurant and began to make my way to collect Tony, I couldn’t stop thinking about the incident with Louis earlier. What was going to happen to me now? I thought to myself.
It was as I walked down the street that I noticed a sedan car parked at the end of street. It caught my eye because I saw the person in the driver seat staring at me. I approached the back door opened and a figure stepped out. At first I wasn’t sure if I was seeing right. The dark hair, the golden eyes, sun-kissed tan skin. It was Louis.
