“After the divorce was finalized, he came to the house a few nights, saying he regretted it..The last time he came was three weeks before I knew about the engagement. He was fucking me behind your back Heather.” She explained as I gripped my glass of soda, tempted to throw it agaisnt the wall.
“He was playing you just as much as he was me..do you know why he went through with your engagement? Because I told him no..I said I didn’t want to reconcile..” She explained and slid over her phone, revealing text after text of Dave begging for another chance three months before Florida..even the night of our engagement..
I couldn’t contain the anger now..my hand lifting up as I threw the drink to the floor, causing the restaurant to go silent.
“You risked everyhting for this man..and you lost it all..here is everything you need to know right in this file Heather. The crimes he committed..the woman he was sleeping with..this is what you gave up your kids for.” She whispered as tears filled my eyes before spilling over. Lies..it was all a lie.
I didn’t give a shit about the other woman..I knew about that..but going to Viva and begging for her to take him back..that he yet again tried to choose her over me..that was what broke me.
“I loved him..” I choked out, realizing Viva was sliding out of the booth.
“That wasn’t love Heather..he owned you..and he proved that the moment he made you choose your own children over him. And now you really will have to live with that. Because those beautiful kids..they want nothing to do with you.” And with that she left..leaving me with nothing but regrets.
Dave King ruined my life..he ruined everything..and now I’m left with absolutely nothing.

*Three Months Later*
“Yes, come on Cas!” I screamed towards the ice rink, my eyes glued to my husband as he slid sideways before slapping his hockey stick against the ice.
The game was tight and Caspian had already gotten into three “fights”. I never thought I could be so invested in this sport.
My heart stopped as time seemed to still..then Caspian made contact with the puck, shooting it across the rink and toward the goal.
Cheers exploded around me as I too began jumping up and down excitedly, my arms wrapping around Anna as we both smiled at one another.
Caspian just scored the winning shot.
“The dick head did it!!” Anna exclaimed, making me slap her on the arm as she laughed hysterically.
Life has been anything but dull these past three months.
Dave was sentenced to twenty years in prison without the possibility of parole and my mom tried reaching out a few times..her regret clear but Ben and I just couldn’t do it.
We couldn’t forgive her.
Not after everything that happened and how she took that man’s side over her own children’s.
I think she qctually lives in California now or something..I’m not too sure but Viva has been keeping tabs on her.
Honestly, I don’t know what the future holds with her. But right now, I feel way too hurt and betrayed to ever forgive her.
Besides, now that Ben and Robin are expecting..Ben doesn’t want to bring their future baby into that drama. Our mom doesn’t know yet and he doesn’t plan on telling her anytime soon.
“Oh my god..did you see when Moose slammed that guy into the wall? That was so hot!” Anna suddenly whispered into my ear as we made our way down towards the locker rooms.
Milo, Moose, and Anna are still going strong. In fact, they decided to move in together in a few weeks after their leases were up.
I have never seen Anna happier.
She isn’t the only one who is official either.
Viva has been inviting someone over for our Sunday brunches..Henry, the lawyer she used to help take Dave down.
For a moment there I thought she and my dad might’ve had something..but their bond is more like family than anything.
Which let’s be real..we didn’t need another situation like that..Caspian and I are already technically step-siblings..well at least we were until my mom filed for divorce from Dave.
I was surprised she actually did it..I think we all were.
Now that we are back in school, I was worried things might change between Caspian and me..It was just a massive fear I had considering the last time we were in school together.
But his team has been such a huge support..and even the coach gives me special privileges and lets me come to all of the games..I guess Caspian performs better when I am there..so Coach Marks calls me his lucky charm now.
Luckily that whole Brett thing was taken care of and he didn’t return to WSU. Last I heard..he and Heaven were actually together..their engagement was announced and Alder caught wind of it.
I can honestly say they might be the perfect match for one another..like seriously.. At least they won’t be tormenting some other poor soul.
Speaking of Alder..he and Viva are currently in New York. I guess he has been spending a lot of time with his grandfather and has even been talking about possibly moving there in a few months.
Just for a little..apparently there’s some type of business deal out there. Some company that wants to partner with the King name. I think it was Sinclair Industries.
Apparently Alder met someone at an event they were having..a woman named Jolie. He sounds quite taken with the girl..I have never seen him like this..he is even talking about marriage. Love at first sight type of stuff.
So yeah, I have a feeling this might be the one for him. Just a hunch.
Before I could even take another step forward, a large hand wrapped around my wrist and pulled me back, making me yelp.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Caspian grumbled as I blinked up at him in surprise.
What, did he do, hop the railing or something!?
Before I could answer, Caspian crashed his mouth to mine, kissing me deeply as he practically crushed me beneath his arms.
“Did you see that? I won..” He smiled against my lips and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Yes, you did..good boy.” I teased, causing his eyelashes to flutter as his pupils suddenly dilated.
“When do I get my reward?” He asked me, making my heart race as I tried to keep cool.
Okay..maybe Caspian has been playing better at games because I might be offering him a prize if he wins..a reward to be exact.
