Sometimes Caspian will do the craziest things just to see how hard he can get Everett to laugh..like putting spaghetti noodles on his head. Actually..now that I think about it Caspian makes a lot of messes just to get a giggle out of the kid.
But hearing that little boy laugh melts our hearts and Caspian is ready for more.
“Do you think your head can handle that? You did hit it pretty hard the last time.” I would tease..bringing up the fact that he fainted any chance I can get.
But nope..he is adamant and wants me to go off of birth control soon.
So there is that..my brother thinks Caspian is crazy. Ben and Robin decided not to have any more after the twins.
From what I have heard, it was a mutual decision, which I can understand..those nieces or mine are a handful.
“Give Mommy a big kiss bud, she has to leave okay?” Caspian told our son, prompting Everett to look up at me with those big blue eyes and blink them innocently.
“I..I can’t do it..I can’t leave him.” I whined, squishing our son’s face against my chest as I hugged him tight.
“Baby..you left him to go to school before..it will be the same.” Caspian chuckled, obviously finding this more humorous than me.
“It’s different..I could always skip out on classes if I needed to..this..this is like a real job..I don’t like it.” I frowned while burying my face in Everett’s hair and inhaling deeply.
“Come on, hand him over..” Caspian ordered, his hands reaching out as I shook my head no.
That’s when Everett began to laugh, his big smile making my heart explode as Caspian started pulling him away from me.
Everett just thought it was some type of fun game.
“But..I don’t want to leave you either..maybe I can just start tomorrow..we can continue where we left off..” I rushed out, making Capsian blink his eyes rapidly as his jaw ticked in response.
That’s when his gaze began to wander down my body..the look in those blue orbs one I knew and loved as he took a deep shuddering breath.
“Nice try you seductress..trying to seduce me in front of our own son..” He said dramatically before covering Everett’s eyes playfully.
“What?! You are the one who always tries to get me to..”
“Hey! Language..” He interrupted..stealing that one from me..I can’t believe he is flipping this on me.
Caspian is totally inappropriate in front of our son all the time..okay..maybe Everett is sleeping most of the time..but still. What if he were to wake up?! I know he is almost one and a half..but still..that might be traumatizing.
“I can’t believe you..fine, jeez..I will go.” I grumbled..and I knew that would get to him.
Suddenly Caspian rushed forward with Everett and pulled me against his chest with his free arm.
“Wait..we need our kisses..don’t be mad baby, I was just teasing..besides, this is what you always wanted to do right? You can’t pass up this opportunity..” Caspian reminded me as I nodded and gazed up at him sadly.
“Yeah..I just am going to miss my boys a lot.” I said, feeling my eyes began to water.
“We will miss you too..but it will only be for a few weeks. Then we can spend the rest of summer together..and who knows, maybe we will try for our second.” He added, making my stomach flutter as I lifted on my toes, kissing Caspian and then our son before turning and heading out the door.
“Kick some ass babe!” Caspian added, making Everett squeal as I rolled my eyes and couldn’t fight the smile that filled my face.
Not sure you can really kick ass in the line or work I will be doing..but what the hell..I will give it a try!

I chewed on my bottom lip anxiously, my hand tapping the steering wheel as I waited for the red light in front of me to turn green.
That’s when I heard my phone ring as a small part of me hoped it was Caspian telling me to come back home..but no such luck.
“Hey bestie..today is your first day!! You on your way there yet?” Anna asked excitedly, making me let out a sigh.
“I’m just a few blocks away..” I grumbled.
“Jo..come on, show some fucking enthusiasm. Caspian and Everett will be fine. I think Moose and Milo are actually meeting up with him and your brother at the park later to hangout.” Anna informed me, causing me to gasp.
“What?! He didn’t tell me about that..what the hell..”
“Did you expect him to stay home all day and mope around until you got back?” She teased.
“Yeah..kind of..” I confessed, making Anna burst into laughter.
“You are just as bad as he is now.”
Am I? I mean..I do feel kind of jealous that he is going somewhere without me. I can’t help it!! This is our first real summer with Everett. Before he was just a tiny baby so we didn’t really go out much. But now he loves to go to the park and play on the swing set.
“Jo, just focus on today..I know this is hard for you, but you have to at least give it a try.” Anna said calmly, making me grow suspicious.
“Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?” I asked, making her scoff. Usually Anna would tell me to just skip and meet her at the bar for a drink instead..so this response was very mature for her.
“Whatever..I’m just saying that this has been your dream since we were kids. I know you have Caspian and Evie now..but you have to do this for yourself. Even that big ape can see that..” She explained, making my heart ache as I let out a shuddering breath.
“You’re right..thanks Anna..” I whispered, feeling emotional for some reason. I guess in a way..this all seems too good to be true, and I’m scared that the other shoe will drop.
How the hell can my life be going so perfectly? I have a husband who supports me 100%..a son who is perfect in every way possible..my family is closer than ever and now I’m getting the opportunity to intern at my dream job..how did I get so lucky?
“Okay, now go in there and rock that shit and if it completely sucks..then just bail and we can go to the bar and get wasted instead.”
Yep..there she is.
“Okay, I love you Anna, I will call you tonight.” I said before hanging up and driving the rest of the way to the studio.
After parking the car and texting Capsian that I got there safe, I grabbed my purse and began making my way into the building.
Today I wore a pair of black slacks, a cream colored silk cami, and a black jacket over it..I wasn’t sure what to wear exactly..considering this is kind of a professional setting so I opted for this.
