Chapter 14 – His Betrayal Novel Free Online by Natalia Jeseye

“Alright you two, let’s hit the road and get her stuff before Mark tries to show up and harass us.” I turned around hearing Amy yell and walking out of their house. I could not agree more, I wanted to get this stuff and get back to my hotel because I had to pack the rest of my stuff so we could leave early in the morning. I had a lot I wanted to get done before I started my job on Monday morning. I am not one that can live out of boxes, it made me feel disorganized and unsettled.

We hopped into my car and Dean followed me in his truck. While driving I handed Amy pictures of the new place I was renting. It was a cute little apartment that was the perfect size for just me. It had everything I needed and the best part was the landlord had a spare loveseat that he was putting in there for me, knowing the situation I was coming from and how little I had to start with. I loved it because I didn’t need anything huge because it would just be me staying there. As I pulled up to the apartment Mark and I had shared, I looked around for his car, sighing with relief at not seeing it, I got out and headed into the apartment.

“WHAT THE F**k!” I shouted, enraged.

I stared in disbelief, walking into the apartment, seeing Mark, holding roses, and next to him was a table with a candle lit dinner, candles surrounding the whole kitchen. Mark had a huge smile on his face and he was dressed in slacks and a blue button-down shirt. He walked towards Jessie, holding out the roses towards her with eyes pleading her to take them. “Please sit down honey and we can talk through all of this.”

Jess started backing up, “I told you not to be here when I came today. I don’t want to see you, I just want to get my stuff and leave Mark.” Amy and Dean walked up behind me, “Really dude! Why are you here right now? She specifically asked you not to be here today”, Dean said.

“This is my apartment and I can be here if and when I want, and right now, I want to be here to get my wife to stop all this crazy divorce talk and sit down to a nice dinner so we can talk this out.” Mark set the roses down and walked towards them, a look of irritation replacing the smile he had quickly.

“Jessie, go upstairs and start gathering up what you need, we will take care of this while you do,” Amy stated with her hands on her hips and glaring at Mark. Sighing, Jessie ran up and started placing things from their bedroom in one of the boxes she had. On her dresser she found her jewelry box that contained the few pieces of jewelry she would wear on special occasions. She placed it in the box along with any other items she found in her dresser. She had already gotten most of her clothing but there were still a few pieces left. She looked in her closet and on the shelf she saw the box containing her wedding dress. She thought about it and pulled it down. It didn’t have any sentimental value to it, but maybe she could bring it to a clothing resale shop and get a little money for it. She set that by the door. Jessie cleared out her bedside table of her family bible that she inherited when her parents passed away, a few books she wanted to read. On top of the night stand was the diamond bracelet Mark had given her for her birthday. She grabbed that and took off her ring and placed them both in her pocket. She would take those items to see what money she could get for them because she didn’t want to keep either of those items any longer.

Once done with her room, Jessie walked over to the spare room that was used as an office, she grabbed her files and folders that she kept important documents in. Anything in there she didn’t need she put on the floor along the wall. She then proceeded to clear out her desk because the file cabinet and desk would be going with them. Looking around, she didn’t see anything else she wanted and she sealed up the boxes and started carrying them down the stairs, hearing raised voices. Mark was yelling at Amy and Dean for helping her move out. Jessie set the box by the door and then walked over to them, “Mark, I told you this was going to happen. Please leave, I want to get my stuff and get out of here quickly. I have things to do and this is not something I want to be dragged out.” Turning towards Dean she said, “I have two more boxes, a desk and a file cabinet upstairs to take. The rest will be down here that I need. Could you help me please.” Dean nodded and followed her up the stairs. They brought down all the items she had mentioned then loaded them on the back of Dean’s truck while Mark watched sulking.

Amy and Jessie then started packing up the few dishes that Jessie wanted to take and then walked over to the wine cabinet where Jessie placed her stash of favorite wines. They carefully wrapped them and placed those in a box and Jessie took those out to her car. Jessie walked around and pulled any photos or paintings she wanted off the wall and placed those in a box, then she walked around the living room grabbing any pieces that held sentimental value of her time before Mark. Mark sat the whole time watching them, but what surprised her was the fact that he wasn’t sulking any longer. He looked irritated, “Jessie, why can’t you just get over this and forgive me already. This is taking things too far and now you are involving our friends.”
