What the hell was she?
More guards rushed out from inside.
Scarlett didn’t slow down.
She pushed straight through them, unstoppable-every movement efficient, controlled, overwhelming.
Like walking through air.
Upstairs-
Dr. Nyx had just been shoved into the VIP room.
He spun around immediately, glaring at Theron.
“You’ve got some nerve,” he snapped. “Fine-keep pushing. But when she gets here? You’re going to regret it.”
Rhys almost scoffed.
Break in here?
With nearly a hundred guards downstairs?
Not happening.
Even trained units would struggle to get through that.
Theron ignored the exchange entirely and stepped toward the bed.
The boy’s face was burning with fever, his breathing uneven.
It had been going on all night.
No more time.
“Dr. Nyx,” he said, voice steady, “I apologize for how this was handled. But the child is innocent. I need your help.”
Dr. Nyx snorted. “I already told you-no.”
He glanced at the boy-
Then paused.
His brows pulled together.
‘…Wait.
Why did this kid look so much like Scarlett?’
He looked at Theron.
Then back at the child.
Hold on.
Don’t tell me-
Before the thought could settle-
A loud crash echoed from outside.
Fighting?
Already?
That fast?
Rhys turned sharply toward the door. Theron’s gaze followed, narrowing slightly.
Then-
BANG.
The door burst open as a bodyguard was sent flying straight through it, crashing onto the floor.
Rhys froze.
No way.
A hundred guards.
And she broke through in under three minutes?
Even he wasn’t sure he could do that.
Then she appeared.
Scarlett.
Both men went still.
“…You?”
Theron’s voice was low.
Scarlett stopped just inside the room, equally stunned.
Of all people-
Him?
Dr. Nyx stood there, looking between them, then slowly turned toward the boy again.
‘Wait.
No way.
This was getting suspicious.’
Theron’s gaze settled on Scarlett-
Then dropped.
Her hand.
A faint cut across the back of it. Barely visible, but the thin line of red stood out against her skin.
His expression shifted.
Before he even thought about it, he stepped forward and caught her wrist.
Dr. Nyx’s eyes lit up instantly.
‘Oh, now this was interesting.’
Scarlett didn’t expect it. For a split second, she didn’t react.
Then she tried to pull back-
“You’re hurt,” Theron said, voice lower now.
She paused.
Looked down.
Just a scratch.
Nothing worth mentioning.
“It’s nothing,” she said, pulling her hand free.
To her, it didn’t even register.
She’d walked away from far worse.
But Theron didn’t look convinced. His gaze lingered on that small cut, his expression tightening almost imperceptibly.
Dr. Nyx stepped between them, looking from one to the other.
“Alright, hold on,” he said slowly.
He pointed between them.
“You two… what’s going on here?”
Theron didn’t answer.
Scarlett frowned. “What do you mean?”
Dr. Nyx jerked his chin toward the bed.
“The kid,” he said. “Don’t tell me you had a child and just skipped the whole marriage part.”
Scarlett: “…”
She exhaled, clearly done with him.
“You’ve got it wrong,” she said. “He just happens to look a little like me.”
Dr. Nyx squinted at her.
“…You sure about that?”
“Yes.”
When Scarlett said it, her eyes were already on the boy.
Burning with fever.
For a brief second, something flickered across her expression.
If it were true… she wouldn’t have minded.
Dr. Nyx studied her for a moment, then let it go.
Scarlett wasn’t the type to lie about something like that. And with her background? If she’d ever wanted a husband, she could’ve had her pick of powerful families.
No way she had a kid and no one knew.
