Chapter 16 – His Betrayal Novel Free Online by Natalia Jeseye

“Thank you so much Morgan, do you want to come in? I don’t have much but I can pop some of this popcorn and we can have wine?” I said as I held the door open, Morgan smiled and stepped in. I put some popcorn in the microwave to pop while I poured him a glass of wine. “Go ahead and have a seat in the living room and I will be in there in a moment.” I handed him his glass and motioned to the living room while I got a couple of bowls out for popcorn. “You can find something for us to watch if you would like, I only have Netflix and Hulu at the moment. I was watching Virgin River, but you can find something else for us to watch.” While I was not really interested in anything at the moment, I could make some new friends in the area and Morgan seemed like he was a decent guy so far. I would normally be more cautious, but there was something about him that told me I could trust him. I finished pouring popcorn into two big bowls and handed him one as I walked by. I sat in my chair while he had chosen the love seat. We ended up watching Manifest, it was not something I would have just picked on my own, but it did end up being really good and I made a mental note to watch more episodes later on.

Morgan only stayed for a few hours and we visited a bit while we watched the show. He was born and raised here in town, and he decided to stay because he was close to his family and couldn’t see himself moving far away from them. He was the oldest of 4 children in his family and he had all sisters and he was very protective of them. That comment warmed my heart because it showed that he valued family. Morgan shared that he worked in the shipping department of a local flooring company. He stated that it was a good company to work for and that was why he stayed. I told him that I was from Tennessee, but moved here for a fresh start. I was not ready to talk about Mark, so I just shared that I was an only child and I had lost my family years ago, which is why I was fine moving her to Georgia. “While I do have friends back in Tennessee, I don’t have anything else to keep me there, and my friends are looking forward to coming back here to visit me. I work as a social worker at the Shabonna Middle School, and I am loving the job so far.” Morgan smiled as I talked about my job, “Where the people that helped you move in the other day the friends you were talking about? They looked like good people, but of course I am only judging by what I saw.”

I smiled, “Yes, that was Dean and Amy and they helped me get settled since I was not able to move everything on my own.” We talked until Morgan decided to head home, and I cleaned up, then called it a night glad I decided to get to know him better. Morgan seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

I walked around the apartment and it felt so empty, even though she left me most of the stuff in the apartment. I had noticed all she seemed to take was things she had when we moved in together. All of the other items were ones that we had bought together, been given as gifts or were mine from before. She also left all of the photos of us together, such as wedding photos that were left behind, so it felt like she didn’t want any reminder of our time together. I chugged from my bottle of whiskey and sat looking at our wedding photo. It was an awesome day, all of our friends were there and my family was there, but not her family. Jessie had told me when we had started dating that after she lost her parents she didn’t have any family that she knew about. As I gazed at the photo, I focused on her specifically, she was so happy that day. In the photo she was looking at me as the photographer captured the moment. She had a huge smile on her face, her eyes almost sparkled, and she looked at me like I was the only one in the room with her. I wanted that look back, all I had seen in her eyes after she left was sadness, anger and even disgust. That killed me and I need to get her back, I wish I had thought about following them wherever she moved but I had no idea when they were leaving, but it also didn’t help that I was majorly hungover from drinking after she left.

I am sure Amy will want to visit Jessie. They were basically inseparable before we were married, so I need to put a plan together and find out the next time Amy will drive to visit her. I just need to come up with a good plan before then. I wonder who I can get to help me put something together. I just needed to get through to her since she was being ridiculously stubborn. I know plenty of women that I could talk to and get their opinion on what it would take to get my wife back. The problem with this would be the difference in personalities. My wife was sweet, would give the shirt off her back to help anyone. She loved children and I knew she wanted some one day. I had been delaying this as long as I could because kids put a cramp on my lifestyle and I was not in any rush to have any. I would just have to find a way to sweet talk that friend of hers into giving me some ideas, Amy would know better than anyone what it would take for me to get Jessie back. I will head to their place after work tomorrow and maybe I can get her to slip up some helpful hints. I emptied the rest of the bottle and then laid down on my couch trying to put together a plan, but eventually passing out for the night.

Morgan

In the 8 years I have lived in this apartment, I would have to say I have not had an attractive neighbor like I do now with Jessie living next door. A couple of weeks ago, my landlord, James, came by and asked me to help him move a love seat into to apartment next door. As we moved it in, I asked him why we were moving it into an empty apartment? I honestly was curious because my place was bare before I moved in. James filled in on a lady coming in from out of state with minimal furnishings, and due to her circumstances, he was just trying to be helpful. This is why I liked staying even though I could buy a house anytime I wanted. James was a genuinely nice guy. He was a widower of 10 years and in his early seventies, but you would never guess that by looking at him. We put the loveseat in the apartment’s living room, and I asked James what kind of circumstances he was talking about. James stated it was not his place to tell me, but he stated that she has had a really rough time recently and wanted a fresh start. Now I was curious who my new neighbor was going to be.

On the day she moved in, I saw her and two other people moving in boxes and a couple of pieces of furniture from the back of a truck. She looked to be in her late twenties, long blonde hair pulled up on her head and the shorts and top she wore gave just a hint of the nice toned body underneath. No wonder James offered her the love seat, this lady was coming with barely anything. I didn’t see bedroom furniture, kitchen table or anything. I was about ready to offer my help, when I thought better of it. They have already unloaded the vehicles, and it would be sort of creepy to offer to help unpack boxes, so I made a mental note to wait to introduce myself once her company was gone and she had a chance to settle in.
