Chapter 19 – Traitors Will Kneel Down

The maids served tea and pastries. Afterward, Lady Elizabeth ordered the maids to withdraw. Once alone, Elizabeth gave Abril a gentle smile. That was the first time Abril felt that someone didn’t look at her with hatred or contempt, but on the contrary, treated her like the queen. Lady Elizabeth had never for once called her “Princess,” as the others did, reminding her that although she had married the king, she was not considered a queen.

“I hope Your Majesty feels comfortable with me. If you have any doubts or questions about what I will be teaching you, I hope Your Majesty asks freely.”

“Thank you, Lady Elizabeth,” Abril said.

“The butler told me that I should give you the education of a wife.”

Lady Elizabeth took out a book and said, “I will teach you everything you need to ki. about the duties and obligations of a wife in the bedchamber. Have you ever been taught anything about this subject?”

“No, but I have read some books.”

“Your Majesty, could you tell me what you have learned?”

“Of course. The books said that if a couple kisses and sleeps in each other’s arms, they will have a baby.”

Elizabeth felt a certain tenderness upon hearing the princess. She smiled gently and said, “For a couple to have a baby, something more is needed, Your Majesty. Kisses and hugs are essential for the intimacy of a couple, but they are not enough to create a baby.”

“Really?”

“That’s right, Your Majesty. Kisses are only the beginning. Today, I will explain to you as much as possible how babies are made, so pay close attention. And as I mentioned before, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.”

“Alright.” Abril replied.

When Alessandro returned to his quarters that night, he saw Abril looking very scared. Normally, she always seemed nervous, but that day she appeared even worse.

“What’s wrong?” He asked.

“Today, Lady Elizabeth explained to me how babies are made, and it’s horrible.” Abril answered with tears in her eyes.

Alessandro wondered what exactly Lady Elizabeth had told her to make her so upset. He wasn’t sure if it had been better if she hadn’t said anything at all. Alessandro sat on the edge of the bed and asked, “What exactly did Lady Elizabeth tell you?”

“She said something hard and big was going to enter my body, and it would hurt a lot. I don’t want that,” Abril said.

“I think Lady Elizabeth didn’t explain it correctly, Alessandro replied.

“So, it won’t hurt?” Abril asked.

Alessandro knew that the first time could be painful for a woman. He could lie and tell her it wouldn’t hurt, but for some reason, he didn’t want to.

“It might hurt a little, but it’s also something that feels good,” he said.

“Really?” Abril asked.

“Yes,” he replied.

Alessandro started giving her soft kisses on the lips. Abril stared at him and said, “I don’t like pain.”

“It only hurts the first time. After that, there is only pleasure, Alessandro replied.

Abril didn’t know whether to believe him or not, but she didn’t have many options. Seeing her hesitation, he said, “Tonight, I’ll only kiss you.”

“Kisses are scary,” Abril replied, remembering how she felt like, she was suffocating the night before.

“Kisses aren’t scary, you just don’t know how to kiss, Let me teach you.” Alessandro said, taking her face in his hands, he gently stroked her cheek with his thumb and their lips touched in a simple brush. Then, their lips pressed together with a bit more force. Abril held her breath, and Alessandro told her, “Breathe, if you do, you won’t feel like you’re suffocating.”

Abril did as Alessandro said. He continued giving her small, short kisses until she stopped trembling, until she got used to the act of kissing. He then took it to the next level, running his tongue over her lips, tasting them as if he were sampling them. He sucked her lower lip and deepened the kiss. Abril felt her face burning, as if she suddenly had a fever. Her breathing became ragged, and she felt a strange tingling in her body.

Alessandro continued kissing her, his kisses becoming less tender and innocent, growing more intense. He inserted his tongue into Abril’s mouth, massaging it slowly. This scared her, and she pushed him away. Looking at him with an angry face, she said, “That scared me.”

“I suppose that kiss was too much for her,” Alessandro thought as he looked at her and said, “I think that’s enough for today. It’s better if we go to sleep.”

Abril slipped under the covers and pulled them over her head. Alessandro laid down beside her. That night, she didn’t hug him, instead, she stayed on one side, motionless.

The next day, Alessandro woke up before her. Normally, he always struggled to get up since he only managed to sleep a few hours, but ever since Abril slept with him, he woke up rested and full of energy. He wondered if it was due to her power.

After getting dressed, he looked at the princess. She looked tiny in that large bed.

“She’s too thin,” he thought.

Upon leaving his quarters, he went to the dining room for breakfast and ordered the butler to ensure the princess had a good diet. That day, two maids went to wake Abril. They helped her dress even though she insisted it wasn’t necessary. When she left the king’s quarters, the butler approached her and said, “From now on, your meals will be in the palace.”

Abril found it annoying to have to go to the palace to eat every day, since her small house was far from the main palace and said, “It’s not necessary.”

“It’s an order from His Majesty,” the butler replied.

She knew what those words meant. “It’s an order from the king, you can’t refuse.” Abril sighed heavily, hating the idea of having to spend so much time in the main palace.

“Today, you will have your first class with Sir Sirius. Let’s go eat, or you’ll be late for your class.”

Abril walked behind the butler. As they walked through the corridors, he said, “Lady Elizabeth will also come this afternoon, so you must stay in the palace all day.”

Abril nodded and in her heart wished it would end as soon as possible so she could return to her peaceful days. She felt uncomfortable being in the palace because she always heard the maids whispering and mocking her, looking at her with disdain. She wasn’t welcome there, and no one bothered to hide it.

That day, Abril couldn’t return to her small house, which had become a refuge for her. All morning, Sirius taught her the principles of magic. The meal at the palace was luxurious and delicious that day, but she still longed to return to her small house. In the afternoon, she was with Lady Elizabeth, who continued teaching her more about the duties of a wife.

When it was time for dinner, one of the maids went to fetch Abril and led her to the dining room where Cassian and Alessandro were. She was surprised, as she had thought she would eat alone.

Cassian said, “Sit next to me, Abril.”

Abril sat next to Cassian and wondered why she had to be in their company for dinner that night. Cassian hadn’t been able to see Abril all day because she had been very busy. When night came, his leg started to hurt, so he asked one of the maids to bring her to the dining room to join them for dinner. He had mentioned it to Alessandro shortly before she arrived. Alessandro didn’t say anything but didn’t seem bothered either. Cassian wondered if his relationship with the princess was improving.

After dinner, Alessandro stood up. Abril didn’t know what to do, whether to follow him or remain seated. Seeing she wasn’t following, he said, “It’s late, let’s go.”

Abril said goodbye to Cassian and trailed behind Alessandro. When they reached the king’s chambers, Alessandro removed his jacket and loosened his shirt, making himself comfortable. Abril stood still, unsure of what to do. Someone knocked on the door, and Alessandro opened it to reveal two maidservants carrying the princess’s nightclothes. Alessandro let them in without a word and sat on the sofa while the maidservants helped the princess change.

The maidservants were always rude to the princess. However, they weren’t that day. They must have been terrified of making a mistake and being punished by the king.

When they finished changing the princess’s clothes, they practically ran out. Alessandro was having a glass of wine and offered one to Abril.

“Would you like some?”

Abril took the glass the king was offering her. Upon tasting the wine, she wrinkled her face and said, “This tastes horrible.”

“Haven’t you tried wine before?”

Abril shook her head.

“I see. You’ll have to get used to the taste.”

“I don’t think I can get used to it. It’s bitter. Why does Your Majesty drink something like that?”

“Because I like it.”

“Your Majesty has strange taste.”

“If you drink it every day in small doses during meals, you’ll end up liking it.”

“I don’t think so,” Abril replied.

“The butler told me you started your lessons on the principles of magic today. How did it go?”

“I suppose it was fine, although I still think it’s a waste of time. What good is it for me to learn the principles of magic if I’ll never use them?”

“Even so, you must learn it.”

“I don’t want to.”

“What?”

1 don’t want to learn them. Now I have to spend more time in the palace. I don’t like to!

I’ve been wondering about this for a while now. Why do you hate the imperial place to mesto/

Abril didn’t know whether to tell the King the truth, though she doubted he would believe he anyway. She fidgeted with her hands nervously and said in a low voice, “You’re not going to believe me anyway!

“What are you whispering about? Speak property!
