Chapter 190 – True Luna Book Free: The Darkness Within

“Do you know anything?” Hunter asked, his voice quiet and raspy.

He was broken and he didn’t even look like himself since she went missing.

“I’m still waiting,” I mumbled. “The warriors aren’t back yet.”

We’d sent the warriors to each and every pack. Our first thought was that one of our enemies took her. But who would be crazy enough to go against my mom and my dad?

“f**k,” Hunter mumbled and I heard him sit down on the chair.

I tightened my jaw and forced myself to turn around. Hunter was sitting on the chair in front of my desk. He was leaning forward, with his elbows placed on his knees. His hands were covering his face and he was grunting quietly.

I couldn’t even imagine what he was going through. I didn’t have a mate yet, but I could see how scared and hurt he was.

“We will find her, Hunter,” I said as I sat down in my chair.

Hunter moved his hands from his face and leaned back in his chair. He looked terrible.

“I had a thought,” he mumbled quietly.

He kept his eyes on his lap. He was fidgeting with his fi**gers and I could tell that he was nervous.

“Tell me,” I said sternly.

If he had an idea about her whereabouts I wanted to know immediately.

Hunter looked up at me and took a deep breath. I saw him gulp.

“What if she wasn’t taken?” Hunter mumbled as he looked back down at his lap. “What if she left because she was afraid of hurting us?”

A growl that escaped me was unavoidable. He looked up at me and I saw guilt in his eyes.

Was he f**king insane?!

“She would never do that!” I exclaimed as I clenched my fists. “She would never do that to our parents. She would never do that to me.”

Hunter sighed and ran his fi**gers through his hair.

His stupid idea was only making it harder for me to control my anger. I was successfully controlling myself and I hadn’t punched anyone yet, but Hunter was on the shortlist for the first punch.

I knew that he didn’t know her that well yet, but he should have known that Fia would never do that. She would never hurt her family like that. She knew that the only way to beat the darkness was with the help of her family.

“I am sorry, Alex,” Hunter mumbled. “I thought of it because she isn’t in any of the packs we searched through.”

My jaw ticked.

“It was a stupid idea,” I mumbled angrily. “Don’t ever repeat it.”

Hunter looked up at me and nodded.

“I am sorry,” he repeated.

I tried to take a deep breath. I couldn’t do so lately. There was a huge rock filled with fear, anger, and pain stuck in my throat. I couldn’t breathe normally. I couldn’t eat normally. I couldn’t even sleep normally.

I looked at my office door. I knew that my parents and Anna were approaching.

The door opened and they walked inside my office.

My parents looked terrible. My father was ready to kill someone and my mom looked broken.

“The warriors are back,” my dad mumbled. “They didn’t find anything.”

I already knew they wouldn’t. I had a hunch that she wasn’t taken by a pack. There wasn’t an Alpha alive who was insane enough to mess with my parents. My mom could fry their asses in a second and my dad could rip them apart in another.

Not to mention me. I was angry enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if I developed my own powers. I could feel my mom’s magic in my body. I was just a step away from unleashing it on the world.

Well, at least that’s what it felt like.

My mom walked to the window and sighed. She was so worried and it hurt my heart to see her like that.

“Where are your parents, Hunter?” Anna asked.

“In my room,” Hunter mumbled.

“Get them here,” Anna said. “I have an idea.”

My eyes snapped to her and my heart skipped a beat.

Did she know where Fia was?

Emma’s POV

I was never afraid like I was in the last eight days.

My little girl was missing.

I didn’t know where she was. I didn’t know if she was okay. I didn’t even know who took her. Why did they take her? What did they want?

I was thinking that whoever took her would ask for something. I was thinking that they would contact us and ask us to do something or give them something in exchange for her.

But there was nothing. There was no news and no clues about where my daughter was.

I tried everything I could think of. I tried every locator spell I could think of. I even tried to invent new ones. Nothing worked. Nothing helped. I tried to connect with her through our magic, but I couldn’t feel her. I could always feel her in the past.

I was so scared to know what that meant.

Emma? My brother mind-linked me. Where are you?

Logan’s office. I mumbled through the mind-link.

I was having trouble doing even that. I was exhausted and so scared.

I heard Hunter getting up and leaving the office. My mate approached me and wr*pped his arms around my waist.

“We will find our princess,” he said quietly as he placed a soft k**s on my temple.

I was hoping that Anna’s idea would bring us closer to my daughter. She refused to tell us what her idea was. She wanted us all present when she told us.

The office door opened and I knew it was my brother and his family. Andrew approached me and Logan moved away so Andrew could hug me.

“Oh, Em,” Andrew mumbled as he k**sed the top of my head. “We will find her. I promise.”

Everyone kept telling me that, but we still hadn’t found her. When would we find her? When would I have my baby back in my arms?

I turned around and wr*pped my arms around my brother’s waist. He r*bbed my back gently and leaned his head on mine. For a single second, I felt like everything would be okay. I felt like a little girl whose brother would take care of everything.

“What idea do you have, Anna?” Mason asked, his voice cold and raspy.

“I will tell you when Hunter and his family get here,” Anna said, making Mason sigh.

Andrew let me go and cupped my cheeks. He placed a soft k**s on my forehead and wr*pped his arm around my shoulders.

I looked at Daisy. I could tell that she was crying. Mason and Mike looked pissed off. Mason adored Sophie. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for her. This was hard for him.

The room was quiet. Every one of us was lost in our own thoughts. I couldn’t even look at my son. His pain made me want to scream and cry. This was hard on all of us, but my son lost his twin. It was heartbreaking to even look at him and the pain on his face.

I leaned more into my brother and he tightened his hold on me.

I heard footsteps approaching the office and my heart sped up.

A few moments later Hunter and his family walked inside.

Nathan looked at me and I saw how sad he was. Janet looked worried. Harry rushed to Mike and pulled him into a hug. They bonded immediately and it was nice to see the growing friendship bet**en them.

“Sit down, please,” Anna said quietly.

Nathan and Janet sat on the couch next to Daisy. Logan was standing behind Alex. His hands were placed on Alex’s shoulders and he kept k**sing the top of Alex’s head. Hunter sat down in the chair opposite Alex’s desk. He turned it around so he could see everybody. Mike and Harry were standing next to Andrew and me. I ran my fi**gers through Mike’s hair and k**sed his temple. He looked at me and gave me a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
