Chapter 20 – A Ring Without Love

In the dream, she returned to the first day she stepped into the Everett Estate.

Back then, the garden was full of life.

A young man stood with his back to her, wearing a light gray coat. He stood tall, the wind lifting the hem of his coat and outlining the clean, sharp lines of his figure.

The butler spoke softly beside her. “Ms. Amelia, this is Mr. Mason.”

Amelia stared, completely forgetting every bit of etiquette she had practiced. She just looked at the figure in front of her, stunned.

The butler nudged her gently, reminding her to greet him. Amelia snapped back to reality. Her little face turned bright red as she whispered timidly, “Mason.”

Mason turned around.

He bent slightly, looking down at the girl who had just been taken in by the Everett family. His brows lifted with interest as he asked, “What were you staring at so hard just now?”

Her face turned even redder. She gripped the hem of her dress nervously and whispered, “Be … Because … you’re really good-looking.”

The air went silent for a moment.

She thought she had said something rude, so she was too scared to lift her head.

But the man above her let out a soft laugh.

A warm, dry hand landed on her head and gently ruffled her hair.

“Yeah,” he said, “the sun feels nice today.”

Amelia woke up to a beam of morning light.

The warmth from her dream still lingered in her heart, and it lifted her mood more than she expected.

She got up early and went to a flower market to order new flower seedlings for the studio garden.

After she left the flower market, she stopped by a big shopping mall nearby.

She had once seen a perfect street-front shop

No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I’m Done!here. She had planned to rent it and open her own gown design studio once she saved enough money.

But now her bank card was frozen, and she had just moved into a new workspace. She couldn’t afford that kind of rent anymore.

The location was in the busiest part of downtown, and good shop spaces were always taken fast.

Still, she wanted to check. Sure enough, the shop was already blocked off for renovation. She could hear drills and hammering inside.

Someone else had rented it first.

Amelia stood at the entrance and let out a small sigh. A bit of disappointment rose in her chest.

It seemed like her plan to open a store had to be pushed even further.

She turned to leave – only to see Hannah walking out of a luxury kids’ boutique, one hand holding Isla’s, the other hand loaded with shopping bags covered in high-end brand logos. Both mother and daughter were glowing with smug joy.

Great. Just my luck.

This pair was like a curse. No matter where she went, they showed up.

Amelia frowned and tried to walk the other way.

But Hannah had sharp eyes. She spotted Amelia instantly.

“Oh! Ms. Harlow!” Hannah raised her voice on purpose as if she wanted the whole mall to hear. “What a surprise! I didn’t expect to run into you here!”

She lifted the luxury shopping bags even higher, making sure every logo was visible.

“You see? Ethan is just amazing. He gave me a card with no limit. I can buy whatever I want.” Hannah’s voice dripped with pride. Her eyes locked onto Amelia’s face, hunting for even the smallest flicker of jealousy. “By the way, didn’t Ethan use to give you cards like this, too?”

She asked even though she already knew the answer. Every word was meant to stab.

Amelia stared at her with a blank expression. Her cold gaze slid over the bags like they were trash.

“If you like it that much, then keep buying. Clear out the whole mall if you want. It’s not like you’ll ever get a chance to splurge like this again.”

Before Hannah could react, Isla rushed forward and shoved Amelia hard.

“You’re a bad woman!” Isla shrieked. “Now Ethan gives all his money to my Mommy! You’ll get kicked out soon! Hmph!”

Amelia took a half-step back. Looking at this hateful little kid, her irritation rose like a wave.

These two always found new ways to disgust her.

But she wasn’t the same Amelia who let people walk all over her.

She took a deep breath and raised her voice slightly. “Ethan is worth billions. And you really think buying a few outfits means he ‘gave all his money’ to you?”

She even shook her head with pity. “That’s … kind of sad.”

Hannah’s face turned dark. She didn’t expect Amelia to tear down her act so plainly.

“What do you mean by that? Are you looking down on us?”

Amelia nodded without hesitation. “Yeah. I am.”

Then she turned away and walked straight toward the second-floor high-end women’s section.

Of course, Hannah wasn’t going to let it end like that.

Grinding her teeth, she dragged Isla behind her and followed.

Amelia was standing at the new-arrival display in a luxury boutique, holding a designer dress against herself.

The sales associate recognized her right away.

She rushed over with a bright smile. “Mrs. Rowe, you look great today! We just brought in a lot of new pieces that match your style. Would you like me to take you to the VIP lounge and show them to you?”

Amelia was about to agree when Hannah’s mocking voice came from behind. “Ms. Harlow, didn’t Ethan freeze your card? How do you still have the nerve to shop? Don’t tell me you’re broke but trying to act rich.”

Her tone wasn’t loud, but it was perfectly loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.

Amelia turned around slowly, her lips lifting into a small, mysterious smile. “I always have my ways.”

Her gaze swept over Hannah like she was looking at something cheap and boring. “Are you here to shop too? This place doesn’t welcome people who come just to cause trouble.”

Hannah’s face twisted with anger. She was furious at Amelia’s calm, superior tone.

To prove her point, Hannah yanked the card out of her purse and raised her voice at the sales associate. “I want all these new arrivals. Every single one! Don’t bother letting her try anything. I’m buying them all!”

Then she raised her voice even more, making sure the whole floor could hear her. “I might not be Ethan’s wife, but I can still use Ethan’s card!”

The lounge went silent. Several women who were shopping nearby stopped what they were doing and stared.

Amelia looked at Hannah’s proud face, then widened her eyes as if she had just realized something. “Oh! So you’re basically the homewrecker, right?”

The wealthy women around them perked up immediately. These socialites loved gossip more than anything. They drifted closer, ready to enjoy the scene.

Only now did Hannah realize what she

No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I’m Done!sounded like. Her face flushed bright red.

“You … don’t say it like that!”

Isla rushed to defend her mother, her young voice sharp and loud in the quiet store.

“No, she isn’t! Ethan doesn’t even like you! You’re the homewrecker!”
