Anna stopped sprinkling salt on the floor and looked up at me.
“He will have to snap out of it, Emma,” she said. “You know it as well as I do. Sophia can’t help him, because she isn’t Sophia anymore.”
The broken pieces of my heart created a wave of pain in my ch*st.
Anna looked back down and continued to sprinkle the salt around the room.
I heard footsteps approaching and I turned around. I knew it was my mate. I was relieved that he came to check on us. I needed him. I needed him to tell me that our child was going to be okay.
“How is it going?” he asked as soon as he opened the door.
I didn’t respond. I couldn’t. I walked into his arms and took a deep breath. He hugged me tightly and k**sed the top of my head.
“Anna?” he called her.
“Everything is ready,” Anna said. “I am just finishing up a few touches and then it’s all up to Emma.”
I closed my eyes and took another deep breath.
I had to be the one to cast a binding spell on the room. I was the only one who was powerful enough to go against her magic. I was the only elemental with powers opposite hers. It had to be me. No one else could do it.
“It is going to be okay, baby,” Logan mumbled quietly. “We will figure it out. I promise. She won’t be in here for long.”
I nodded and opened my eyes. I looked up at my mate and saw him smiling at me. His smile didn’t reach his eyes though. I knew him well enough to see how worried he was.
“Our daughter will be okay,” he told me. “We will take care of her. You will take care of her just like you did for the past 18 years.”
And just like I would do until I took my last breath.
“It’s ready, Emma,” Anna said, making me flinch.
Logan k**sed my forehead and let me go.
I turned around and approached the table with a black candle and an obsidian rock.
I lit the candle and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and released it slowly. The wind created by my magic made a loud noise in the room. I started mumbling the words of the spell. I pictured my daughter’s beautiful face and focused my magic on her.
“By the power of the light and the strength of my will, I bind you and hold you still. With salt and with stone, with candle and flame, your magic is stripped and your power is tamed. Contained within this circle, contained within this room, your magic is powerless, trapped in a magical tomb.”
The room was filled with the sound of strong winds as the ground shook beneath me. The force was so powerful that the windows began to slam open, causing a deafening noise. I felt the wind swirl around me, howling as it got stronger by the second. The temperature in the room increased. The sound of thunder boomed in the air and I could hear the droplets of rain hitting the windowsill.
The elements were coming together to bind my daughter and her powers into this room.
I took the obsidian into my hand and infused it with the power to absorb and contain Sophia’s magic once we finally found her. We needed to contain her magic long enough to get her inside this room.
I felt the spell infusing itself into the walls of the room. I felt its power buzzing in the air. I felt my own magic giving it strength and pushing it until every part of the room was completely infused with the binding spell.
The rain and the thunder stopped. The wind quieted down and the ground stopped shaking. The temperature in the room dropped.
I opened my eyes and looked at the candle in front of me. It was still burning.
There was still one incantation left.
“By the power of magic and the strength of my will, I declare that only I possess the key to release this creature still. Let it be known that no other mortal hand can break the bond that I have placed, nor loosen this band.”
Everything around me quieted down as I spoke the last word.
I opened my hand and looked at the obsidian. Its center was glowing red.
“Is it done?” I heard my son’s quiet voice.
I didn’t even hear him come.
“It is done,” I mumbled quietly as I closed my hand around the rock and p**ssed it to my ch*st.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried to take a deep breath.
The room was ready to bind her and her magic until we found another way to set her free.
Sophia’s POV
I was finally in full control of my powers.
The chains around my body felt like strings. The magic that was used to keep mine bound felt like a soft breeze on my skin.
I had my full power and I would get my revenge against those who kept me locked up in here.
I broke one of the chains around my waist, making the witch in the corner flinch.
I laughed and turned my head to look at her.
“Don’t be scared,” I said, smiling at her. “It is just one of many chains keeping me your prisoner.”
She glanced at the broken chain and approached me. I could see her trembling and I reveled in it. Her fear only fueled my magic.
Another chain broke, but this time I didn’t do it on purpose. It was only an accident. I got a bit too excited when I smelled the fear on her skin.
She ran toward the door and I knew that she was going to call him. If I didn’t want him in here I would be annoyed. Every time I did something, the witches would call him. Every time a chain broke or every time I threatened them, they would call him. It was pathetic, really. They were witches and they were afraid of me. They relied on a mere werewolf to save them. I had to stifle a laugh. They had more chances against me than him.
But it worked for me. I wanted him to come this time. I wanted him to see the mistake he made. He was nothing compared to me. He was a pathetic little wolf who thought he could control the pure darkness that was inside me. He got lucky because I didn’t know how to control the magic and the sudden rush of power. He was lucky that the witches found a spell to slow me down.
But that was all it did. It slowed me down. It didn’t stop me. Nothing could stop me.
“Sir!” she screamed. “She broke them again.”
I smiled and looked at the ceiling. I couldn’t wait for him to walk through those doors. I couldn’t wait to see life leave his pathetic body.
The door opened and he walked inside. I turned my head to my left and smiled at him.
“Will you stop?” he sighed. “You are not getting out of these chains.”
Oh, if he only knew.
“Did you find my weakness yet?” I asked mockingly.
I saw him smirk and the anger inside me grew.
“It’s got to be that weak grandson of mine,” he said, smirking at me like he just discovered my biggest secret. “A wolf’s mate is their biggest strength and their biggest weakness.”
I laughed. Did he really think that I cared about some mate I saw a few times? I didn’t even feel the bond anymore. I couldn’t care less about what happened to him.
“Oh, please, Richard,” I said as I stopped laughing. “I don’t even have a connection with my wolf anymore. Why would I care about some imaginary bond some deity created?”
His eyes widened and this time I smirked at him.
It was getting harder and harder to control my magic. I wanted to kill him now. I wanted to kill them all now. On the other hand, I wanted to see him sweat a little bit before I ended his life.
