Chapter 21 – The Heiress They Couldn’t Break

She walked over, holding a wine glass.

“What do you want?” Amelia’s tone was icy.

Gianna pretended not to notice her cold shoulder, smiling sweetly. “Marcelo just called. He wants us to come home after the party.”

“I have other plans tonight.” Amelia flatly refused.

“Amelia, Marcelo wants to discuss your contract. You won’t refuse, will you?” Gianna emphasized the word “contract.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll go back tomorrow.” Amelia replied indifferently.

She still hasn’t learned her place!

If they wanted to bring up the contract, she’d play along.

It wasn’t that she couldn’t pay the penalty. Personal revenge was more satisfying.

A hint of mockery flashed in Amelia’s eyes.

They wanted to steal her shares? Let them try.

“Alright, Amelia. We’re sisters. I hope things won’t get awkward between us.” Gianna said with fake sincerity.

“Sisters?” Amelia let out a cold laugh. “Gianna, there are no cameras here. You can drop the act.”

Gianna’s expression shifted. “How can you say that?”

With reporters around, Gianna remained cautious. She didn’t want to be caught off guard.

Amelia stepped closer. “Gianna, cut the act! You know exactly what you did on that island. Your day of reckoning is coming. It’s just not today.”

Hearing this, all the color drained from Gianna’s face. Amelia smiled coldly, but her eyes were like ice.

After the celebration wrapped up, Amelia walked out of the hotel.

Jeremy’s black Maybach was parked nearby. Seeing Amelia approach, he opened the car door.

“Welcome back.”

Amelia smiled and nodded. “Thanks, but you really didn’t have to pick me up.”

“It was necessary. You’re my personal doctor, my lifesaver.” Jeremy made an inviting gesture.

Neither of them spotted the photographer lurking in the shadows, capturing the moment.

Amelia got into the car. The leather seats smelled faintly of cedar.

She wearily rubbed her temples. The constant filming had worn her out.

“You worked hard this week. Make sure you get some rest.” Jeremy said.

“I have to go back to the Nygard Residence tomorrow.”

Jeremy’s finger paused on the car window. “Because of the contract?”

Amelia sneered. “Yeah, they think the contract gives them leverage over me.”

The car stopped at a red light.

Jeremy turned to look at her, his gaze intense. “How about I pay the penalty fee? You don’t have to let them walk all over you.”

“No, I want to see this charade through to the end. I hope they won’t regret it later.” Amelia smiled.

Marcelo probably already regretted putting her on that reality show.

Amelia didn’t know the complete audience response yet, but she could read it in the reporters’ behavior tonight.

If Marcelo still wanted to keep playing games, she’d definitely bring her A-game.

After getting back, Amelia put down her things and immediately began treating Jeremy.

It had been a week, so the poison had to be flushed out of his body.

Jeremy lay on the treatment room bed shirtless, his well-defined muscles flexed under the light.

“Your pulse feels much steadier than last week. The new prescription seems to be working well,” Amelia said while checking his pulse.

Jeremy half-closed his eyes, his voice low. “Yeah, I’m sleeping much better.”

Amelia took out silver needles, skillfully inserting them into pressure points on his back.

“But we still need to continue treatment. The frostbone poison in your body isn’t completely eliminated yet.”

The moment the silver needles pierced the pressure points, Jeremy’s muscles tensed slightly.

Amelia noticed right away. “Does it hurt?”

“I’m fine.” Jeremy opened his eyes, gazing at her as she concentrated. “Do you need me to come with you to the Nygard Residence tomorrow?”

Amelia didn’t stop what she was doing. “Nah, I can handle it.”

After the treatment was finished, Jeremy sat up, slowly buttoning his shirt. “By the way, let me show you something.”

He handed over his phone, displaying today’s trending topics about the reality show.

[Amelia, The Queen of the Island]

[Amelia’s Perfect Survival Skills]

[Gianna’s Deadweight Performance]

Amelia raised an eyebrow. “Looks like the audience has good taste.”

“That’s not all.” Jeremy scrolled down, revealing brand collaboration offers. “Seven major brands have already reached out to your studio.”

Amelia chuckled. “Marcelo must really regret letting me go on that show now.”

“But you’re his cash cow now. He should be thrilled!” Jeremy said.

“You don’t understand. His goal was to promote Gianna. Now it totally backfired. How could he be happy?” A hint of mockery flashed in Amelia’s eyes.

She handed the phone back. “But this is just the beginning.”

The more activities Marcelo arranged, the higher her fame would rise. She’d crush Gianna completely.

That sister-obsessed maniac Marcelo was going to lose his mind.

Jeremy looked at her thoughtfully. “So you plan to keep cooperating with them?”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Amelia sterilized and stored each silver needle carefully.

“The wider the path they pave for me, the higher I’ll climb. Gianna won’t be able to reach me no matter how hard she tries.”

She looked up, a sharp glint in her eyes.

She was already planning to gradually cut off the Nygard Group’s funding. When they desperately needed investors, she’d swallow the company whole. Her contract would transfer over too. The look on their faces when they finally figured it out would be priceless.

Amelia had already begun making preparations.

Jeremy laughed. “You hold grudges better than I expected.”

“This is called an eye for an eye.” Amelia closed her medical kit.

“Good. If you need help with anything, just ask.” Jeremy said warmly.

“Thanks. I might actually need your help later.” Having Jeremy as her ally made Amelia feel completely secure. Looking at this man who had her back no matter what, a warmth spread through her chest.

After the celebration party, Marcelo came to pick up Gianna immediately.

Knowing she’d worked hard these past days, he brought her favorite macarons.

“Marcelo!” Gianna threw herself into his arms as soon as she got in the car. “Look what those people are saying about me online!”

Gianna had only checked her phone after the party. Seeing those comments made her blood boil.

She thought her fame would definitely crush Amelia. Her fans were usually so supportive.

She never expected the audience to be so stupid this time. They all said she was dead weight and manipulative on the show.

It was infuriating! When had she done any of that?

Marcelo lovingly stroked Gianna’s hair. “Ignore those internet trolls. Our PR team is already on it. I’ll sue every single account that insulted you.”

Gianna looked up with tears in her eyes. “Marcelo, Amelia hates that you spoil me. So she deliberately stole my spotlight on the show, making me look bad!”

Marcelo’s expression turned dark. “Don’t worry, I won’t let her get away with this.”

Gianna sobbed. “But … but now brands are all going after Amelia. Nobody’s even calling me.”

Marcelo’s face turned ice cold. “Don’t worry. Her contract is still in our hands. I’ll give all those opportunities to you instead. Then I’ll give her some nightmare projects to teach her a lesson.”
