Chapter 22 – His Betrayal Novel Free Online by Natalia Jeseye

Rolling my eyes, I walked back into my place with Morgan following. “I am sure Amy and I will be just fine finding things to entertain ourselves with. So I have to return to work tomorrow. What would you like to do today? I could use some good food. Have any recommendations since I don’t feel like cooking?” There is a great diner a few blocks away, they have the best burger and fries in town.”

I chuckled, “Sounds amazing, but afterwards let’s take a walk in the park again, I am sure I will need it after eating that food.”

The walk to the diner was peaceful, Morgan and I talking about how much fun we had over the weekend. I thanked him again for helping Dean find a job so quickly. I told him I was going to look for a potential apartment for them because they didn’t want to look at houses until theirs was sold in Tennessee. “I just hope that they are careful around Mark. I don’t want him to know I am here. The last thing I need is for him to know where to find me. I wouldn’t put it past him to come here to try harassing me about coming back to Tennessee.”

We walked into the diner and it was like stepping back in time. Everything was older and reminded me of how diners looked back in the 50’s. There was even a jukebox along the wall playing a song by Elvis Presley. I loved it. I grinned and walked over to the jukebox looking at the music selection. I chose a couple of songs and then went to sit with Morgan, who was looking at the menu. We both ended up with burgers and fries, topping it off with shakes. By the time I was done eating I was stuffed and could not wait to start walking off the food. If I sat here any longer I would end up in a food coma. We walked around the park for awhile in silence before making it to our bench by the lake. We sat in silence for a while just looking out over the lake. “So how big of a place do Amy and Dean want in regards to an apartment? I was just wondering if I know of any places we could check out for them, and if they are nice we can send them the information.” I loved that idea and it would help their transition here be a bit smoother. “Amy said that her and Dean would like a two-bedroom place, that way if they are still living there when the baby comes it will be big enough. Being her friend, I also know she likes places that are older that have a more homey feel to them instead of the design of some of the newer places. I would love it if we could find a place close to us so we are within walking distance of each other.”

“There may be a couple places close to us now that I am thinking about,” said Morgan. “Let me do some checking tomorrow and I will let you know and then we can make arrangements to go look at them and see what you think.” I smiled and said “That would be wonderful, just let me know I am pretty free most evenings after work if you can arrange something then. I am too new to the area to have plans anywhere,” I chuckled. Morgan laughed and we started walking towards home. I felt so at peace at that moment and I wanted this feeling to just continue forever. When we got home, I walked towards my door and turned, “Thank you for going to dinner with me and taking a walk, it was a great way to finish out my day. I am going to put on some comfortable clothes and enjoy some reading time. Call me tomorrow if you are able to arrange anything in regards to looking at any places for Amy and Dean. I would love it if we could find some possibilities for them to look through.” He smiled, pulled me into a hug and again placed a kiss on the top of my head. He is always so sweet. I just smiled when I then heard, “GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY WIFE!!!”

Jessie

I spun around as soon as I heard his voice. NO it can’t be! He is not supposed to know where I am. I took a deep breath and asked, “How did you find me Mark? You are not supposed to be here, and anything you have to say needs to go through my lawyer anyway.”

He just laughed and said,” You are my wife and I don’t need to go through anyone to talk to you. Amy had this time blocked off on her calendar as a trip, I just decided to risk following them here to see if it was by chance to see you. Then I just had to bide my time until they left today. I just had to wait around until they finally took off. He walked up to me as he was talking, I edged back and suddenly Morgan was in front of me blocking Mark from getting to me.

“She obviously doesn’t want you here, the smart thing for you to do is turn around and go back home. It was shady as hell for you to do all that just to find out where Jessie is. Go before one of us calls the authorities to have you escorted away.” Morgan stood guard in front of me and I pulled out my phone getting ready to call for help. Mark made a sudden lunge towards me and Morgan grabbed him and threw him back. “This is my last warning, turn and leave now,” Morgan warned. I, in the mean time, started calling for help because I did not want him here. Once the dispatcher said someone was on their way, I quickly hung up to see Mark take a swing at Morgan. Morgan easily ducked out of the way and swung at Mark, connecting with his gut. Mark went down, but tried going after Morgan again, who quickly had him in a choke hold until a police car pulled up. I walked over and told the officers the situation, and all I wanted was for him to be gone. Mark, on the other hand, decided to start mouthing off, to the point the officers decided to take him in. The officers advised me that I might want to check into a restraining order if I feared this was going to be a problem. I thanked them and said I would follow up with my lawyer in the morning.
