“You still owe me a fucking apology..good thing we will be spending the summer together.” He yelled and promptly unlocked the door before yanking it open and left.
Suddenly my knees gave out, making me slide down to the floor as I let out a shuddering breath.
Yeah..the summer..don’t remind me.
Mom already told us we are going to Florida this summer to Mr. King’s Beach house.
That’s when a thought crossed my mind..why did it bother Caspian so much when he thought I lost my virginity? Does he think no one would like me enough to sleep with me or be attracted to me?
I guess it hasn’t happened up to this point..but I kind of blame Caspian for that..okay, maybe it’s not all his fault, but I really don’t have any type of social life and it’s partly because of him.
The only person I speak to is my best friend Anna..maybe she can help me.
I quickly stood before grabbing my backpack and heading out to the parking lot. I decided just to skip seeing Professor Harris because I was pretty sure he already left. He said if I was more than five minutes late he would leave..and now I was twenty minutes late.
I jumped into my mom’s red 2008 Volkswagen Beetle and pulled out my phone before dialing Anna up. She was interning as a photographer for a modeling agency downtown. Usually, weekends are the busiest times for her so I knew she was free.
“Hey Jo, what’s up?” She answered, making me bite my lip as I let out a deep breath.
“Give me a makeover..” I blurted, making her go silent on the other end before a loud scream made me pull the phone away from my ear. Seriously?!
“Is this for real Jo? You’re not shitting me right!?” She asked excitedly and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“No..I need some new clothes for Florida..please help me..” I responded, prompting Anna to go on a whole tangent about what to bring and the different brands of clothes I should get.
I was tired of sitting back and letting Caspian control my life..I was tired of cowering in fear and I knew this was the only way to finally give it back to him..because in front of our families, he acted like a damn angel..I was going to take advantage of that..I think it’s time Caspian gets a little taste of his own medicine.
This time I’m going to take charge..and I won’t let Caspian interfere..this was going to be the best summer ever.

I let out a nervous groan before biting my lip and trying to hype myself up..okay..you can do this..it’s only Anna and she is your best friend.
“J, you better get your ass out here right now or I’m going to knock the damn door down.” She yelled from outside of the dressing room. I was currently trying on swimsuits and this was the first bikini I have ever worn in my life.
“Okay geez!” I shouted back before glancing at my reflection once more..I won’t lie..I looked pretty good..like, better than I ever thought possible.
I was in a black strappy bikini with a triangle top. The bottoms tied on the sides and went above my hips. I couldn’t believe this was me..maybe that was the hardest part of all of this.
I had an hourglass shape with wide hips and a full bust, my stomach wasn’t completely flat but well toned..all of those workouts I have been doing with Ben and Alder really paid off.
I slowly opened the door before taking a deep breath and holding it in.
“Come on..it’s just me.” Anna reassured, giving me that extra nudge I needed as I stepped out.
I swear I had never seen Anna’s eyes get so big in my life..I kid you not..she was just like something out of a cartoon as her mouth opened and closed like a fish.
“Anna..say something!” I blurted, feeling awkward that she was staring at me.
“This badass body has been hiding under those hoodies this entire fucking time?!” She shouted a little too loudly as I hushed her and looked around the dressing room awkwardly.
“So..does that mean it looks good?” I asked anxiously, making her nod her head before she stood up and turned me around.
“What the hell! When did you get such a great ass?” She grumbled and spanked my butt, making me jump before letting out a yelp.
“Sorry..I couldn’t help myself. You should seriously consider becoming a model J..I’m not joking..you have the perfect body.” She began and I couldn’t take any more compliments..my cheeks were about to burst into flames.
Anna was more of the model type. She had short red hair that was in a pixie cut and she had legs for days. Her face was covered in freckles and she had gorgeous green eyes. I felt second best to her with my short stature and gray eyes.. My being 5’2″ and her being 5’9″ I just felt like I could never compete.
Luckily Anna and I never liked the same guys though..she always went for older men..well..one older man to be exact, my brother Ben.
He just always saw her like a sister though..I used to hop on the marrying Ben bandwagon and picture life with Anna as my sister-in-law but sadly Ben is engaged now to a woman named Robin.
She is a whole other nightmare that I will have to get into later.
“Okay okay..that’s enough.” I rushed out and hurried back into the dressing room before letting out a deep breath.
“Since we know your size now I am just going to pull a lot of random shit..you will look good in anything.” She said through the door, making me pause before untying the bikini bottoms.
“Do..do you really mean that Anna?” I asked quietly, feeling self-conscious as Caspian’s words continued to torment me.
He had called me ugly so many times..I started to believe it..the worst was when he hung around his best friend Milo.
Milo was just as bad as Caspian..I remember once in P.E. Milo kept pointing and laughing at me as I ran around the gym. The words chubby, rolls, and fat fell from his lips as he stood beside Caspian laughing. We were still friends at that point too.
But to be fair, Caspian only calls me ugly..he never made fun of me for my size..at least not to my face. But maybe that’s worse..because I can always change my size..but not my face so easily.
“Okay, I just got off the phone with Jeremy, there was an opening at the salon!” Anna informed me while clapping her hands together happily as I came out of the dressing room.
I work part-time at the coffee shop on campus so I had some money saved up, but it doesn’t hurt that Anna knows most of the people we are going to and was able to get us a discount.
After my dad died, my mom received a large sum of money from his life insurance policy. She put away enough for my brother and me to both go to college and was able to pay off our house.
She still kept her job at a publishing agency and I work part-time at the coffee shop. I still live at home since our house is about forty minutes away and I didn’t want to leave Mom alone..plus it helps save money.
We walked to the front of the store and paid for our items..we got a lot more stuff than I realized as I looked over at Anna nervously.
“Anna, I don’t remember trying on all this stuff..” I said while giving her some side-eye.
“Don’t worry about it, I put some on my card too..think of it as a late birthday gift.” She smiled cheerfully even though we just celebrated my birthday last week together.
