Chapter 36 – His Betrayal Novel Free Online by Natalia Jeseye

I smiled at them because I love how close they are and their love of each other was very apparent. “You all are amazing looking out for Morgan like this, but he never rushed me until I was ready to pursue this. In fact I didn’t know he had the same feelings as me until I had the courage to say something. We have talked about what we are looking for in a relationship and we are both are on the same page, in fact we also have the same future goals. I love how supportive he is and he is encouraging me to follow my dreams which is something I have not had before. You don’t have to worry about me hurting your brother, I could never bring myself to do that.”

His sisters seemed very happy with my answer and we sat and visited for awhile longer until Morgan and his parents finally joined us. Morgan carried out a couple of beers, handing me one and we talked about getting together again in the near future, his parents even encouraged us to bring Dean and Amy after they heard about my friends that moved here. I think Amy would also get along with his sisters, I could see us having some ladies nights together. After awhile we called it a night, his family hugging me and encouraging me not to be a stranger and to visit with Morgan whenever I could. We said our goodbyes and drove home, Morgan looked at me and smiled, “Did you have a good conversation with my sisters. I hope they were not hounding you too much, I told them that I was happy and that should be enough for them.”

I laughed, “It was not bad at all and I find it sweet that they are just looking out for you and don’t want to see you hurt anymore. We had a great talk and I think your sisters and I will get along just fine.”

It has been a few weeks since the dinner with Morgan’s family, his sisters have texted me a few times and we are trying to set up a girls night. I have been trying to find the free time to do this but my time has been taken up a lot lately between work, Talking to realtors regarding the offices I am thinking about looking at, while also figuring out how to make that schedule work with staying at the school until I build a client list, my evenings were spent with Morgan.

I have also been in touch with my attorney who said I will be getting finalized divorced documents soon to sign, but I may have to go back to testify at Marks trial because he is determined to plead not guilty. I am dreading going back and having to see him and I have been hoping he would change his plea but it is not looking that way. Morgan has offered to go with me to the trial and support me, which I appreciate, Dean and Amy will be going as well. They may be called as witnesses by my attorney anyway to testify regarding his actions and behavior. If he doesn’t change his plea I may be making a trip back to Tennessee in about a month. I have been trying to reoccupy my thoughts to and think of more positive ones. Once thing I have been thinking about was having a discussion with Morgan about possibly moving in together. I was thinking it only made sense since we spend every night together and I can actually picture us taking this step now. We have had talks about what it would be like but it has never progressed past that yet. I was taking out some ingredients to make dinner when my phone started ringing. I see it is my attorney, “Hello Mr. Stern, what can I help you with? Is there any news regarding Mark coming to his senses and changing his plea?”

“Jessie, I wish I was calling you with that news, but unfortunately it’s not good. I just got a call regarding Mark, somehow he got out and the police are trying to locate him…..” I don’t hear anything else because I am consumed by darkness.

Morgan

I was home cleaning up from work before I headed over to Jessie’s. I have been playing around with the idea of bringing up scenarios where we live together to her to see how she might react. While I don’t want to rush her I also would like to know when I come home everyday from work, I will be coming home to her. We have come so far since she moved to town, and I look forward to spending every moment I can with her. I grabbed my wallet and keys, locked my door and walked over to her place. I tried the knob finding it locked, I rang her doorbell and waited. When she didn’t answer I pulled out my copy of her key and unlocked the door. I walked in and immediately noticed her on the floor and ran to her. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw she was breathing so I wet a washcloth and started wiping around her face. “Jess come on baby, open your eyes. I am right here with you sweetheart, you’re safe.” I watched as her face scrunched up and a moan come out.

“Morgan? What happened? Why am I on the floor?” I looked down at her and then I noticed her phone lying on the floor nearby. I picked it up and looked at it, noticing that the last call listed came from her attorney. “I came in and found you on the floor? It looks like the last call you had was from your attorney, did you get some bad news?” She sat up and looked at me then I saw her eyes shoot wide open. “Oh God! Mark escaped! That’s why he called me to let me know. The police can’t find him, that’s all I remember then everything went black. I need to call him back to see if he has more to tell me.” She grabbed her phone and quickly called the attorney back. It must have gone to voicemail because she left him a quick message to call her back.
