“Sarah, Nolan took Elena away! No one even knows where they are right now!”
Sarah froze at his words. Elena and Nolan are together? Did Elena give up on Zayden because she latched onto Nolan?
“Watch your mouth!” Henry exploded, jabbing a finger in Zayden’s face. “What do you mean ‘took her away’?”
Sarah quickly jumped in as she was trying to smooth things over with a soft tone. “Yeah, Zayden, we’re all practically adults now. Maybe it wasn’t him taking her away, maybe they both wanted it. No need to dig into it too deep.”
But her words instantly made people misunderstand, and everyone around began catching on to the implication. Elena went off with Nolan willingly?
Henry’s expression turned dark. “What the hell do you mean by that? Explain yourself! Don’t go spreading rumors without proof!”
“Didn’t you mean that? Also, why did sister and Nolan both take leave so coincidentally? Maybe, they are already together, like me and Zayden.”
Then, Sarah hooked her arms around Zayden’s. “Zayden, am I right?”
Zayden’s face darkened at Sarah’s words. Then, he pulled his hand away from hers.
“Zayden…” Sarah stared at Zayden in shock.
Zayden said coldly, “This isn’t the end of the matter. Once Nolan is back, I’ll settle with it.” Then, Zayden turned and left.
Henry’s voice rang out from behind him. “Don’t forget, you’re already broken off your engagement with Elena! What right do you have to confront Nolan? Who do you think you are?”
Zayden stood frozen in place as he clenched his fist.
“Zayden, he’s right,” Sarah said gently, eyes filled with nervousness. “You and Elena are no longer engaged. You shouldn’t get involved in her personal matters anymore. And if she really does like Nolan, shouldn’t we be offering our blessings instead?”
She watched him closely but anxiously. She had waited so long for Zayden and Elena to call off their engagement, so there was no way she’d let Zayden start having other ideas now. If he regretted it, she’d become the joke of their entire circle.
“She’s only a second-year student in high school. What she should be focusing on is her studies, not dating someone like Nolan!”
Who didn’t know about Nolan’s character? A person who was a juvenile and a murderer-how good could he be?
Zayden tore his uniform to vent his anger.
“Zayden!” Sarah followed behind him with a pale face.
“Don’t follow me!” The people on the field didn’t know what was happening.
Henry frowned. “Is Nolan really dating Elena?”
“No idea.” Colton suddenly recalled Nolan looking for him because of Elena. He hesitated and said, “But… it’s possible.”
At the same time, in Season Hotel.
“Achoo!” Elena sneezed.
Nolan asked, “Are you sick?”
Elena had been doing her homework last night, and she fell asleep on the sofa in the middle of the night.
Elena shook her hand, “No, I just felt a chill…”
Like someone was talking behind her back.
The hotel room was silent. Nolan stared at Elena for a while and asked, “Why are you not done with your homework yet?”
“I’m doing Saturday’s homework. What about yours?”
Nolan was speechless. Then, he said, “I never do my homework.”
“You even went all the way to the classroom to get her homework last time, didn’t you?”
Nolan shifted his gaze slightly. “Exception.”
“Oh.” Elena lowered her head and continued working on her homework when suddenly, a knock came from the door. A polite female voice called from outside, “Hello, room service?”
“No, thanks.”
“We have prepared breakfast and a fruit platter for you. Will you be dining in the room or heading out?”
Elena glanced at Nolan, who was still lying on the bed and unable to move. She stood up and went to open the door.
The hotel staff pushed in a breakfast trolley, neatly arranged with delicate breakfast items, two cups of coffee, and a fruit platter. As the attendant’s gaze swept the room, she caught a glimpse of a red stain on the bed sheets. Smiling slightly, she said, “Shall I arrange for housekeeping to tidy up the room for you later?”
“It’s fine. Not necessary for now.”
“The bedsheets… are you sure you don’t want them changed?”
Bedhseets? Hearing the attendant’s words, Elena glanced over at Nolan on the bed. The white sheets had a faint smear of blood. She realized the attendant had gotten the wrong idea.
On the bed, Nolan let out an awkward cough.
“Go ahead and change them,” Elena said at last. When it came to things like that, Elena was calmer than Nolan. After all, she had an extra life-she had seen many things. She wasn’t as shy as a high-schooler.
“Alright, I’ll arrange.”
Not long after the attendant left, housekeeping arrived to clean the room.
Elena did her homework while Nolan rested on the nearby sofa. The two of them sat in silence.
Every time Elena looked up, she could see the tips of Nolan’s ears becoming red. Who would’ve thought? In her past life, Nolan was known for being ruthless and decisive-but as a teenager, he blushed so easily.
“We’re done. If you need anything else, just give us a call,” the housekeeper said politely as she finished, placing something quietly into the cabinet before leaving.
Elena didn’t notice, but Nolan’s gaze darkened slightly. Once the cleaner was gone, he got up and made his way toward the cabinet.
Elena asked curiously, “What’s wrong?”
Nolan didn’t respond. He simply yanked the drawer open. The moment he saw what was inside, he froze. Then, just as quickly, his tense posture eased.
“What’s in the drawer?” Elena stood up, intending to take a look, but before she could get close, Nolan shut the drawer firmly. “Nothing.”
Elena frowned. “Then why are you blushing?”
Nolan’s face darkened. “Just do your homework!”
“Okay.” Elena gave Nolan strange looks. Suspicious. There must be something in that drawer.
Nolan leaned against the bed and avoided her gaze.
Elena spoke up as she was writing, “It’s almost time to change the bandage. You sweated a lot last night-don’t infect your wound.”
“I can do it myself.”
However, Elena stood up and walked toward Nolan with the first aid kit in her hand. Just when Nolan was opening the kit, Elena opened the drawer.
“ELiza!” Nolan’s face darkened.
The moment the drawer was opened, Elena was stunned as well. What she saw was a pack of condoms prepared by the hotel.
The two of them were both silent, and it was awkward.
Elena quietly closed the drawer. “Impressive service.”
“It’s my first time here,” Nolan replied.
“Really?” Elena asked with a hint of confusion. “But you have a VIP card.”
“I have a lot of cards. Wanna see?” Nolan casually pulled out his wallet.
Elena was momentarily stunned. How could she forget? Nolan might still be in high school, but he was also the heir to the Hayes family. He just hadn’t come of age yet, which was why he hadn’t taken over the company. But once he graduated, Nolan would officially inherit Hayes Corp completely.
As the future heir of Hayes Corp, many service industries rushed to offer Nolan their VIP cards.
Just then, Elena’s phone rang. Her phone battery had died earlier that morning and had been charging ever since. It must’ve just finished charging and powered on automatically, which was why the call finally came through. Elena glanced at the screen. There were many missed calls from Zayden.
She frowned, then finally answered. “Hello?”
“Where are you?” Zayden’s tone was full of accusation.
Elena thought she misheard and double checked it was Zayden again. She then answered, “Zayden, haven’t I made myself clear? My matters have nothing to do with you, right?”
“Are you with Nolan?”
Hearing Zayden’s tone, Elena glanced at Nolan and said, “I’m alone.”
Nolan pursed his lips when he heard what Elena said.
“Fever?”
“I guess…”
“You’re not in the dorm-where did you go last night?”
“Zayden, why do you have so many questions? Do I need to report to you?” Elena frowned. “Bye.”
Then, when she was about to hang up, Nolan suddenly coughed. Elena turned around and saw that Nolan’s medication fell onto the ground too.
“Don’t move! I’ll take it!” Elena said this before hanging up.
At the same time, Zayden’s face turned very ugly. He was sure that was Nolan’s voice.
“Zayden, class is about to start. What are you doing here alone?” Sarah patted his shoulder gently.
Zayden answered, “Can you tell the teacher I won’t be in for the afternoon? I need to head home for something.”
“Zayden, are you okay? Do you have a fever?” Sarah looked at him with concern.
Just as she reached out to touch his forehead, Zayden pulled away. Her hand froze awkwardly in the air.
