Chapter 40 – The Real Heiress Reclaims Her Place (Elena & Sarach) Novel

“I’m not sick. Just have something I need to take care of.” Zayden stepped away from Sarah and headed back to the classroom while grabbing his bag in a hurry.

“Zayden!” Sarah called after him. But he didn’t turn around. Sarah’s expression darkened. Could it be… he’s going after Elena again?

“Sarah, why did Zayden leave on his own? Did you two have a fight?” Scarlett, who had never been thrilled about Sarah and Zayden’s engagement, seized the chance to prod.

Sarah forced a smile. “Of course not. He is just not feeling well. I’m going to the hospital with him. Please help us inform the teacher.” With that said, Sarah started packing her bag.

Scarlett was more upset when she saw that. What the hell? Her results is almost sending her to Class 6 but she’s stil lordering me around. Pft, rich kids are indeed stubborn.

In the afternoon, Elena felt sleepy after finishing her homework.

Last night, since Nolan was sleeping on the bed, she had no choice but to make do by crashing on the desk for the night.

Because Nolan had slept on the bed last night, Elena had no choice but to sleep on the desk. As a result, she woke up this morning with some back and waist soreness.

But she didn’t let Nolan know. Now, seeing the tiredness in her eyes, Nolan set his book aside and said, “Come lie down.”

“Huh?” Elena turned around and met Nolan’s gaze.

“I won’t touch you. Just get some proper sleep,” Nolan said.

Elena wasn’t actually afraid Nolan would do anything to her. What she was more worried about was whether he’d mind.

“I’ll… sleep on this side.” Elena set down her pen and lay down on Nolan’s left side. It was closer to the window, which she preferred. She took off her jacket and got into bed. The bed at Season Hotel was soft and cozy, and the blanket was warm and snug.

It had been a long time since Elena had slept in such comfort. Within minutes, Nolan could hear her steady breathing.

She really fell asleep? Nolan’s gaze darkened. She was alone in a hotel room with a guy, and yet she fell asleep without the slightest caution. He didn’t know whether to call her too trusting or just lacking in self-protection.

Nolan quietly pulled the blanket up to cover her better. Suddenly, a set of hurried footsteps echoed from outside the door.

“Excuse me, this is the VIP floor. You can’t go in!”

“Move!” Zayden shoved the hotel staff aside, prompting the staff member to immediately call for security through the radio.

Zayden was already pounding heavily on the door. “Elena!”

Before he could continue, Nolan had already opened the door. Nolan was wearing a white T-shirt, and his collarbone was slightly showing. His clothes and hair were in a mess too.

Zayden’s face darkrned. He asked, “Where is Elena.”

“You’;re gonna wake her up.” Nolan’s tone turned cold. “Get out. This isn’t a place you can come.”

“Sorry, sir. We will make him leave now.” The attendant by the side quickly tried to make Zayden leave.

Zayden shook off the staff member’s hand and threw a punch at Nolan’s cheek. Nolan merely lifted his hand and caught Zayden’s fist midair, stopping him from landing another blow.

“What the hell are you doing, Zayden?!” The moment Elena’s voice rang out, Nolan’s grip unexpectedly loosened.

That brief hesitation gave Zayden the opening he needed. His fist slammed hard into the side of Nolan’s face.

“Nolan!” Elena immediately rushed forward to support Nolan. She looked up at Zayden’s darkened expression and scolded, “Zayden! What the hell are you doing?”

“You’re defending him?” Zayden’s face was cold. “He brought you to a hotel, Elena! Do you even realize what you’re doing?”

“Zayden! Don’t twist things! It’s not what you think!”

“Not what I think? Then what the hell am I looking at right now? Elena, I can’t believe you! You’ve really sunk this low!”

His fists clenched at his sides as he shook with anger.

“I’ve sunk low?” Elena let out a bitter laugh. Yeah, maybe she had sunk low. Low enough to fall for someone like Zayden in her previous life.

She even sacrificed to her lowest point to help Zayden. She didn’t care about anything ajnd married him. Then, she got dumped.

Elena got up. “Zayden, don’t act like on some higher ground. Didn’t you sleep in the same room as Sarah?”

“That was because…”

“You don’t owe me an explanation, just like I don’t owe you one. Don’t forget that we have nothing to do with each other anymore. I don’t have to answer your questions.” With that, Elena bent down to help Nolan up. Her expression was cold as she looked Zayden. “Please leave.”

She didn’t give Zayden a chance to react and shut the door firmly in his face. Zayden stood frozen outside while staring blankly at the closed door.

“Sir, I think it’s best if you leave now. This is our VIP floor. If you disturb our guests again, it’ll be hard for us to handle the situation,” the staff said awkwardly, trying to be polite but firm.

“Zayden!” The security guard had finally arrived at the scene. Sarah had been following Zayden the whole way. She already thought it was odd when he showed up at a hotel, but she never expected to find him outside Elena’s room.

“Zayden, what are you doing here? Is my sister…”

“She’s not!” Zayden cut her off sharply, his face clouded with frustration. “Just drop it. Let’s go.”

Sarah was stunned by the expression on Zayden’s face. She had never seen him like this. Her gaze shifted toward the presidential suite door, and her brows furrowed in suspicion. Wait… is Elena really inside? But how could Elena possibly afford to stay in such an expensive hotel suite?

“Excuse me, miss, we don’t allow loitering here,” the waiter said, about to ask Sarah to leave.

“Sorry about that. My boyfriend didn’t mean any harm. He was just worried because he heard that my sister was kidnapped. Is she okay?” Sarah asked.

“Everything’s fine. It was all a misunderstanding. It seems like you all know each other,” the waiter replied.

Sarah immediately realized that the people in the room were Nolan and Elena.

What a surprise.

Elena had actually come here with Nolan for a hotel stay.

Sarah’s lips curled into a slight smile.

This time, let’s see how you get out of this!

Inside the presidential suite, Elena glanced down at Nolan’s bruised cheek and said, “Why didn’t you dodge? Just let him hit you like that?”

“I’m a patient. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t be able to touch a single hair on my head.”

“You are so stubborn, especially with your words.”

Elena frowned at Nolan’s already red face and said, “Let me put a cold compress on it, or it’s going to swell up.”

With that, Elena helped Nolan sit on the bed.

She had been very sleepy before.

But now all her sleepiness was gone.

Nolan sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Elena in front of him.

“Why are you staring at me?”

Elena was applying an ice pack to Nolan’s cheek and said, “Fortunately, he didn’t hit that hard, or you wouldn’t be able to show your face for at least a week.”

“He can’t hurt me.”

Unless I’m holding back on purpose.

“Then what do you call this on your face now?”

“An accident.”

“…”

Elena shook her head, not knowing what to say to Nolan.

Elena said, “Alright, you can take care of yourself. It’s not that serious.”

“Okay.”

Nolan leaned back on the bed and asked, “Aren’t you going to sleep a little longer?”

“That jerk took away all my sleepiness.”

Elena was not sleepy at all now.

Seeing Elena get up to do her homework again, Nolan said, “Is homework that important to you?”

“Of course, knowledge changes life,” Elena replied, resting her chin on her hand.

In my previous life, I had been discriminated against because I lacked a degree.

In this life, I don’t want to repeat the same mistake.

I’m determined to reclaim everything that had once been mine.

“Let me see your workbook.”

Seeing Nolan hold out his hand, Elena handed him her workbook.

Nolan took a quick look and said, “Math is your strong suit, and your other subjects are pretty good too, but the problem is with Straonesh. I’ve seen your test papers, and you have some issues with Straonesh, especially with the compositions where you lose the most points.”

“Wait, when did you see my test papers?”

Elena couldn’t remember when Nolan had ever seen her test papers.

Nolan just glanced at Elena and said, “I’m the class monitor. Is it that strange that I’ve seen your test papers?”

“So you do know you’re the class monitor?”

Elena had always thought that Nolan didn’t take his role as class monitor seriously, and she had never seen him do anything related to it.

“Your Straonesh is a big problem because no one has ever conversed with you in Straonesh. Naturally, you can’t master it if you don’t understand it. Do you know why Sarah’s Straonesh is so good?”

Hearing this, Elena let out a bitter laugh and said, “Because Sarah goes abroad every year.”
