“Alicia, stop! You wuss!” Frustrated, Tammy shouted at Alicia.
Feeling humiliated and flustered, Alicia kept blinking desperately at Tammy, trying to get her help. At that moment, Alicia would rather be despised by Tammy than have an awkward conversation with Matthew.
Much to Alicia’s surprise, Tammy didn’t seem to want to help her out of the awkward situation. With an evil smile, Tammy Said to Matthew, “She’s here to talk to you about cooperation.”
“Cooperation?” Matthew asked. After glancing at his watch, he unbutton his suit, sat on the couch and asked, “Can you tell me something more specific? What type of collaboration it is?”
Looking at Matthew’s serious face, Alicia realized she had no choice. She clenched her teeth and thought, Guess I’ll just have to talk to you since I’ve already humiliated myself in front of you once. Hope that I won’t be humiliated again.
“I want Tami to advertise your group’s products,” Alicia plucked up her courage and said.
“Which product do you want to advertise for?”
Hearing that, Alicia froze because she didn’t know what products the Carousel Group had. I wouldn’t have even known about you guys if the cab driver hadn’t told me a bunch of things about your group, she thought.
As Alicia looked around the room, she finally had an idea when she noticed a car magazine on the coffee table. Right! The driver said the Carousel Group produced cars! She thought. Then she said without a second of hesitation, “Cars! We want to advertise for cars!”
Tammy’s eyes widened in surprise. She thought, Why would you choose a car when we have so many other popular items? Our car brand is still in trial and has yet to reach the market. I can easily make money if you choose a small, everyday household item. Why did you choose cars? What are you thinking, Alicia?
Matthew also didn’t expect she would say that. He then asked with doubt, “Cars? Really?”
“Sure. I heard that the Carousel Group will compete in the racing competition next week. I believe racing and e-sports are similar because they are both competitive events.” Alicia appeared to be very self-assured.
Suddenly, Tammy regretted bringing Alicia there. Alicia, stop talking nonsense! She thought to herself.
Then Matthew cut to the chase, “Then tell me what your strengths are. Is it possible that Tammy’s fan base will overlap with our car market? And I wonder how much overlap exists now?”
Seeing that Alicia was rendered speechless, Matthew explained calmly, “Let me tell you something. Many famous e-sports live streamers have fans outside of their circles. But I think the overlap between Tammy’s fans and car market consumers is less than 5%.”
On the verge of passing out from anxiety, Alicia said in astonishment, “Is that true? Oh, that’s not going to work, is it. We’re leaving now. Sorry for wasting your time.”
“Hold on a second. You’re not the best people to advertise cars, but you’re great for instant foods.” Matthew stopped them.
“Huh?” Alicia went completely still. She had no idea what he meant.
“Matthew, are you asking me to promote instant noodles?” Tammy asked as she stood up.
“As well as functional drinks.” Leaning on his chair leisurely, Matthew added.
“No way! Why don’t you let me promote computer accessories or something else? Our computer chips are excellent because we have exclusive core technology.” Tammy said in frustration.
“You do realize that’s exclusive core technology? If you want to promote it, win the world title then,” Looking away, Matthew answered absentmindedly.
Hearing Matthew’s words, Tammy was furious and wanted to leave right away. However, Alicia stopped her. “I believe it is a good idea!” Alicia said.
“No! I’m not going to be a brand ambassador for instant noodles!”
“Actually, you only need to advertise it. You are not currently qualified to be our brand ambassador,” Matthew said, although he knew Tammy would be even more upset when hearing what he would say.
Just as Tammy was going to lose it, Alicia immediately covered her mouth with her hand, exclaiming, “That’s perfect! When will we be signing the contract?”
“Right now,” Matthew called his secretary and said, “My sister will promote our instant noodles and functional drinks. Draw up a contract for her, please.”
“Sure.”
Then Matthew checked his watch and said, “I need to get to work now. Why don’t you go shopping at that mall? I’ll take you two to dinner.” He then walked out of the office.
Alicia let go of Tammy only after he was gone.
“That hurts!” Rubbing her face, Tammy furrowed her brows and complained.
“I would lose this opportunity if you didn’t stop talking. I’m going to get you to sign this contract no matter what. After all, you are the one who brought me here.”
Tammy sat down on the couch, frustrated. She said, “Why are you doing this to me? I expected you to sign me a contract for something more worthwhile! I don’t want to promote instant noodles!”
“What’s the problem with instant noodles? Everybody loves instant noodles! This is the very first contract I got you! Now I finally don’t feel inferior to the other company assistants!” Alicia burst out laughing after she said that.
“You don’t feel inferior to them, but I do!”
“Do you think you’re inferior to the other live streamers? Why?”
“I mean at my house!” Tammy glared at her. And then, she was lost in thought, I’ve always wanted to show Mom how capable I can be as a live streamer. That way, she would stop saying, “You just can’t do anything right” to me. But I don’t think I’ll ever impress her with the instant noodles advertising. Plus, it’s Matthew who got me the advertisement!
The more Tammy thought about it, the angrier she became. Then, in a fit of anger, she pointed her index finger at Alicia and snapped, “I’m firing you right now!”
“No, you’re not firing me! I’m not going anywhere. After I sign the contract, I’m going to invite your brother to dinner.” Alicia appeared to be extremely happy.
Tammy asked, “You’re going to buy my brother dinner? Do you want to invite him to eat hot dogs on the street?”
“There is a new restaurant in that nearby mall. I can invite him there.”
“Really? Are you taking him there?”
“Yeah! Is there anything wrong with it? Is that restaurant too low-end to meet your brother’s standard?”
“Well, it’s low-end for my brother but way too high-end for you. You’ve only bought me pizza hut before!” Stomping her foot on the ground, Tammy complained.
“I need to thank him for that contract, and I also owe him an apology. So, I think it is worthwhile.”
“You can’t spend more money on him than you have spent on me. Otherwise, it will be so unfair! You should take him downstairs to the taco truck.”
While the two girls were arguing, a woman brought her cell phone camera to the door and took a photo of them. After the woman sent the photo to someone over the phone, her phone vibrated. She dashed out the door and down the stairwell to answer the phone.
“Is that Matthew’s sister in the picture?” The caller asked.
“Yes. Matthew just asked her to advertise instant noodles for one of the group’s food companies. Another secretary of his is working on the contract right now.”
“Huh? Is she even qualified to post ads? “
“She seems to be an e-sportslive streamer.”
“Really? On Tiktok?”
“I’m not sure. They didn’t bring it up.”
“Then find out about it as soon as possible. By the way, I want to know which company she works for.”
“Okay. I’m on it”
