After a moment, she snapped back to reality, her voice shrill as she screamed, “How dare you hit me! You hit a teacher! Khloe, are you out of your mind?”
“Jemma Warren, you might have forgotten, but I certainly haven’t,” Khloe said coldly. “Should I remind you? Five years ago…”
Jemma’s face drained of color, her eyes frantically searching for something to focus on as she couldn’t bring herself to meet Khloe’s gaze.
Khloe, on the other hand, crouched down, her presence commanding as she leaned in, and her voice was like a judge passing sentence. “You were furious when I rejected your offer, so you started spreading rumors behind my back, turning everyone against me. And where did you get the data for your promotion thesis? Should I jog your memory?”
Her words hit Jemma like a lightning strike, freezing her in place, unable to respond.
Khloe’s smile was faint but full of menace. “I have all the time in the world to deal with you. Keep pushing your luck, and I won’t hesitate to finish it.”
Hearing this, Jemma felt as though her spine had turned to jelly, and she collapsed to the floor, her voice lost. Khloe stood up straight. “If you don’t want me to air everything, I suggest you leave now!”
Jemma trembled, fear coursing through her, but a wave of relief washed over her as she rushed to escape.
The officer, still stunned for a moment, moved in to stop her. “Stop! Violence isn’t the solution. Madam, would you like me to testify for you and help press charges against Miss Evans?”
Jemma’s voice quivered as she answered, “No, no, it’s my mistake. Khloe isn’t like what I said. I have something urgent to deal with.”
Jemma was in shock. How could Khloe possibly know everything? How had she figured it all out?
If Khloe decided to reveal all the details, she wouldn’t just be losing her job; she could face criminal charges. Fear gripped her, and she hurriedly fled, her face burning with humiliation.
The students who had witnessed Jemma’s reaction were clueless about what had been said, but their fear grew tenfold.
What had Khloe said to make Jemma, usually so confident, tremble with terror like that?
To the students, Khloe now seemed like a terrifying force, a devil in their midst.
Gwyn and Dorothy exchanged uneasy glances, their faces now reflecting concern. Neither of them wanted to end up in police custody.
They cursed Khloe for her vindictiveness and for making them feel this way.
But none of the students dared to voice their frustrations. They all knew that angering the officer could result in immediate arrest, making the situation far worse.
Before long, the police escorted a group of people out of the school, and the sight of it all sent ripples of shock through the campus, sparking rumors and whispers everywhere.
At the police station, Gwyn, Dorothy, and Sloane stood quietly to the side, their heads hung low, their faces pale.
Clinton, as a witness, had accompanied them.
He remained composed, casting a brief glance towards the girls before his eyes landed on Khloe.
She sat quietly in a chair, her shiny hair gleaming in the light. Her serene face held no emotion as she stared ahead, radiating an almost mystical energy.
She carried an aura that made others long to approach her, yet they held back, respecting the boundary she seemed to effortlessly set.
Without thinking, Clinton found himself sitting next to her. “I’m sorry for everything that’s happened today. I should’ve come sooner to help.”
Deep down, he had always held a sense of admiration for Khloe. But back in those days, he had been powerless, unable to stand up against the mighty Evans family.
“Don’t worry. I’ll help you,” Clinton assured her. Khloe gave him a brief, uninterested look, her eyes reflecting a mix of confusion and detachment.
Who was this man? He seemed to be from the Watson family, but she couldn’t place him.
After a pause, she gave a simple response. “It’s fine.”
Clinton opened his mouth to say more, but before he could, Khloe’s voice cut through. “But why do you trust me? What if I am the one bullying them?”
Clinton let out a light laugh, his face lighting up with a warm, carefree smile. “You? Bullying them? With your frame? I think not. And besides, I know their reputation.”
Khloe’s expression softened, a hint of appreciation crossing her face. There were still people with sense in this school.
Clinton, sitting next to her, couldn’t shake the nervousness creeping up on him. How could someone as calm and composed as Khloe possibly be tangled up in anything shady?
What he didn’t realize was that this simple act of kindness would come back to him in a big way, earning him a favor from Khloe down the road.
A group of officers walked towards Gwyn, Dorothy, and Sloane, gesturing for them to follow.
Sloane shot Khloe a look filled with resentment before stepping into the room.
Inside the poorly lit interrogation room, the officer questioned them.
“Will you acknowledge the accusations from Khloe that you spread rumors, slandered her, and bullied her on school grounds?”
“All we did was tease her a bit and argue with her here and there. She’s the one who threw coffee at us and even went after a teacher. If anything, that’s what real school violence looks like!”
The officer’s expression twisted with contempt. “You torment a classmate and still manage to act like you’re in the right?”
“We were just standing up for what’s right. Don’t think we’re scared just because Khloe called the cops. A person like her-disrespectful to her parents and bullying her sister-deserves every bit of what’s coming her way!”
The officers, frustrated by their cocky attitude, realized they wouldn’t get any useful answers and decided to wrap up the questioning. By the time they emerged, the other interrogations had already concluded.
The general conclusion was that it had merely been verbal arguments, not slander or bullying by any stretch.
