Chapter 58 – Traitors Will Kneel Down

“Well, I’m off. I want to get back in shape. See you at lunchtime.”

Cassian ran off, and Alessandro said to her,

“Do you like your nickname?”

“Yes, I’ve never been given a nickname before.”

“Cassian usually calls me Lessan since my mother always called me that. You can do it too if you’d like.”

Abril’s eyes sparkled with excitement, and she asked,

“Can I really call you Lessan?”

“Of course.”

Alessandro wrapped his arms around Abril’s waist and pulled her close.

“Although if you prefer to call me something else, I wouldn’t mind either.”

Alessandro brought his mouth close to Abril’s and whispered against her lips,

“You can call me my love, darling, husband, I love them all.”

He gave her a soft kiss on the lips, and she responded,

“Lessan, I prefer to call you that.”

“And do you want me to call you Aby, or do you prefer my love, darling, dear, sweetness, or sunshine? Which do you prefer?”

Abril laughed; she never imagined hearing Alessandro call her by such names and found it a bit strange. He kissed her cheek and then asked,

“What makes you laugh so much about that? Don’t you like those names? I could come up with more if you want, like sweetheart, my little flower, my little bird.”

As he called her by various affectionate names, he kissed her cheeks, her lips, and her neck, tickling her, and she said,

“Aby.”

“Are you sure? I really like the little kitten one.”

“I don’t. I prefer you call me Aby like Cassian does.”

“Alright, but in bed, when we’re together, I can call you whatever I please, right?”

“I suppose so.”

Alessandro kissed her again, his kiss deeper and more exploring. As he pulled away, he said,

“When you’ve recovered, I assure you I won’t let you sleep at night.”

“Why not?”

Alessandro kissed her, and his hands moved from her waist to her hips and down to her backside, and he said,

“Why do you think?”

Abril was quite innocent, so she didn’t catch Alessandro’s meaning.

“Honestly, I don’t understand.”

Alessandro laughed and said to her,

“Sometimes, your innocence surprises me.”

Alessandro whispered into her ear.

“I mean, I’ll make love to you so much you won’t get a wink of sleep all night.”

Abril blushed, Alessandro laughed again and said.

“I’ve held back until now because you haven’t been well, but once you recover, I won’t hold back anymore.”

Abril covered her face with her hands, embarrassed by her husband’s words, and said,

“You shouldn’t say things like that here.”

“Why not?”

“Someone might hear us.”

“It doesn’t really matter.”

“It does matter; it’s embarrassing. Those things should be said in private.”

“Alright, I’ll save it for when we’re in our room.”

Abril nodded. Alessandro released her from his embrace and said,

“Let’s keep walking before the sun gets too hot.”

Abril continued walking and asked.

“Are you going to spend the whole day with me again?”

“I’d love to, but I can’t. I’ve got something to take care of, but we’ll be together for dinner.”

As they walked, a gust of wind blew Abril’s hat away, and Alessandro ran to catch it. When he caught it, he turned around to see Abril. She looked beautiful in her white dress billowing in the wind, with her long reddish hair framing her face. He walked over to her, put the hat on her, and said,

“You’re beautiful, and I’ll never get tired of telling you that.”

When she opened her eyes, Abril stared at him and asked,

“When did you come back?”

“Just a little while ago.”

“Why didn’t you wake me?”

“You seemed tired, so I didn’t want to disturb you.”

Abril stood up, hugged Alessandro, and said,

“I’m hungry, let’s go eat.”

“Of course, we’ll ask them to prepare your favorite meals.”

Before reaching the dining room, Abril remembered she had dreamed of her mother while sleeping and that she had told her something important. She suddenly stopped, causing Alessandro to halt,

and he asked her,

“What’s wrong?”

“I dreamed of my mother.”

“Was it a nice dream?”

“Yes, but she told me something.”

“What did she say?”

“That I shouldn’t have children until my magic has fully awakened.”

Alessandro understood why Abril’s mother said that. With her magic being so unstable, if she became pregnant and one of the seals keeping her magic in check broke, it was very likely she would lose the baby.

Alessandro saw that Abril was a bit sad about it. He kissed her and said,

“So, for now, we won’t have children.”
