Chapter 68 – Framed by Family. Saved by Mafia

“Come on, say something! You tried to frame ZU students for publicity, but now you’re too scared to admit it. Our anti-Khloe alliance has over a thousand members! Don’t even dream of stepping foot on campus again!”

“That’s right, Khloe, you shameless attention-seeker! Do you really think you can bring shame to Zhecrora University like this?”

Suddenly, a voice cut through the chaos, dripping with disdain. “Zhecrora University is far too prestigious for her to destroy! Khloe manipulated her way into classes at ZU, sparked a bullying scandal, and whipped up a media frenzy. Not only did she gain fame, but she also tried to ruin the university’s chances at awards. A clever scheme, indeed. Khloe, I’m giving you one last chance-leave now, or I’ll expose everything!”

The crowd parted, and the voice rang out, as the students’ faces lit up with admiration and excitement.

Clearly, the speaker was someone of great authority.

Khloe lifted her gaze, scanning the crowd until her eyes landed on a woman standing confidently. She wore a flowing white dress, her long hair perfectly styled. The students gasped in unison.

“Casey!”

“Wait, is that Casey Singh, the genius from the fourth year? My idol! Didn’t she get accepted into the prestigious Astro Research Center for a project? What’s she doing back here?”

“You’re behind the times. Casey came back after hearing about the mess caused by this celebrity, and she’s the one who started the petition.”

Casey slowly walked towards Khloe with her chin held high, radiating the presence of an academic prodigy. “Make your decision now. Leave, or I’ll make sure the school expels you.”

“Leave now! Get out!”

The students at the entrance shouted fervently, their voices merging into a loud chorus, drowning Khloe in public humiliation.

The reporters scrambled, snapping photos and videos, desperate to capture Khloe’s moment of fear and distress for a sensational headline. Yet, their hopes were dashed.

Khloe’s expression stayed composed, her beautiful features revealing no hint of fear or surprise as she met Casey’s gaze.

She raised an eyebrow ever so slightly, her voice cold as she remarked, “So, you’re one of the ones pulling the strings behind all this.”

Following the bullying scandal, Khloe had suspected that Sloane, eager to protect her reputation and prevent Khloe’s return to academia, would never allow her to stay at Zhecrora University.

But now, with Karl and Evergreen Capital backing her publicly, Sloane had lost her leverage. It was only a matter of time before she enlisted help from an outside ally.

So, Khloe had orchestrated the bullying scandal, using the public uproar as bait to expose this hidden accomplice.

Years ago, Khloe had been framed for academic fraud, her accomplishments stolen. The people behind it were far beyond Sloane’s reach, and to seek revenge, Khloe needed to uncover each one of them.

And now, one had finally revealed themselves.

Casey scowled, brushing off Khloe’s cryptic words, and said with an air of superiority, “I suggest you leave now, or it won’t end well when security has to escort you out.”

Just as her words hung in the air, an elderly woman with silver hair appeared from the campus, stepping up beside Khloe. “Enough! Who dares lay a hand on my mentor?”

The crowd’s attention shifted, and a stunned silence fell over them. The speaker was none other than Daryl Hewitt, Zhecrora University’s prized expert, a renowned figure from the Nat’ Academy of Sciences.

Just last year, she had developed a groundbreaking pharmaceutical compound, raising the country’s biopharmaceutical and medical standards to new heights. And now, this renowned expert was referring to Khloe as her mentor.

Casey was equally taken aback. Daryl was someone she had long admired. She had once applied to become Daryl’s doctoral student, but that year, Daryl’s standards were so high that she hadn’t taken on anyone. She hadn’t even made an impression on Daryl.

But now, Daryl-a giant in the field of biomedicine-was calling Khloe her mentor.

“Professor Hewitt, are you sure about this?” Casey asked, barely able to believe her own ears.

The crowd began murmuring among themselves, whispering in confusion.

“How can this be? How could Khloe possibly be Professor Hewitt’s mentor? Isn’t she just a celebrity?”

“This has to be a mistake. Khloe looks so young. What could a celebrity possibly know about real science?”

“Exactly! Professor Hewitt must have been fooled. This celebrity is likely stealing someone else’s work.”

Daryl, however, paid no attention to the crowd’s disbelief. With unwavering respect, she turned to Khloe and said, “I’ve heard about your recent troubles. You should’ve come to me for help.”

Khloe gave a small nod, her expression still calm and composed. “It’s just a minor issue. There’s no need to make a scene.”

Daryl responded quickly, “Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Just give me a bit more guidance, like with the purification issue we had with the traditional medicinal extract last time. Are you available?”

The crowd was even more stunned by Daryl’s obvious admiration for Khloe.

Daryl was known for her sharp tongue at Zhecrora University, often leaving both students and professors questioning their own worth. Yet, here she was, showing Khloe such deep respect.

Someone whispered under their breath, “Isn’t this going a bit too far? Is she really that impressive? She’s just a celebrity.”

Daryl’s expression darkened as she heard the comment. She shot a fierce glare at the speaker and responded firmly, “What do you even know? Khloe’s expertise and accomplishments are beyond anything you can comprehend. Her contributions to biomedicine go far beyond what you could ever imagine. Just because she’s a celebrity doesn’t mean you should doubt her. You have no idea of the depth of her influence in this field.”

The crowd fell into stunned silence at Daryl’s reprimand. Casey was equally stunned but regained her composure almost immediately.

It appeared that Daryl had fallen victim to Khloe’s deception too. After all, Khloe had been pulling the wool over people’s eyes for years-she must have some tricks up her sleeve.

Casey had come to the university after receiving a call from Sloane. She had long harbored a crush on Rhett, considering him her own. At Zhecrora University, no one was allowed to get close to him but her.

Sloane was well aware of Casey’s feelings and had even helped her get closer to Rhett. However, Khloe’s presence at Zhecrora University had started to interfere with Sloane’s plans. Unable to outmaneuver Khloe herself, Sloane had reached out to Casey for help.

Before coming, Casey had done her homework on Khloe’s background, particularly the details Sloane had shared about Khloe’s time overseas.
