Chapter 937 – Until You Say Sorry Novel

Niamh was also certain that Fabian was the one who had invested so much effort for Lillian.

Fabian had truly been considerate in taking care of Lilian, but Niamh could not understand his mindset and the purpose behind his actions.

At this moment, Niamh heard Fabian answering a phone call downstairs.

Niamh vaguely heard Lillian’s name, so she quickly turned and walked downstairs.

Fabian seemed to hear Niamh’s footsteps coming downstairs and he deliberately walked towards the door, avoiding Niamh.

Noticing Fabian’s move, Niamh hurried to catch up, but when she walked up to Fabian, he had just hung up the phone.

“Fabian, who were you on the call with? Is it related to Lily? Where have you taken Lily?”

Niamh’s face was full of worry as she questioned, “Fabian, tell me!”

Fabian chuckled nonchalantly in the face of Niamh’s anxious questioning.

“Eveline, don’t waste time and energy. I won’t tell you where Lillian is.”

Fabian’s answer was extraordinarily cold and inhumane.

Niamh knew that he was acting like this because of prejudice against herself and Kendrick.

Niamh simultaneously felt helpless and very regretful.

“Fabian, when we first met, you were a positive, unruly, and energetic boy who strived to improve yourself. I’d thought we would always be good friends, but I didn’t expect us to be reduced to this kind of relationship.”

Niamh sighed involuntarily.

“Fabian, Lily is still just a child. She doesn’t understand anything. She is sick and needs the care and solicitude of her mom and dad. If you returned my daughter to me, Kendrick and I would accept however you want to deal with us.”

Fabian, unmoved as he listened to Niamh, then turned to meet Niamh’s gaze.

“I know she’s ill, so I’ve asked a doctor to treat her. She’s better off recuperating with me than going back with you. I also took photos of those examination reports for you to see, didn’t I?”

“I know that you’ve been very good to Lily, but at the end of the day, she’s still my daughter.”

Niamh emphasized this and hoped that Fabian could understand how she felt as Lillian’s mother.

Fabian, however, did not want to understand, and instead, he just chuckled.

“You must be very disappointed not being able to see the person you’re the closest to, aren’t you?”

Suddenly, there was a touch of loneliness in Fabian’s eyes, and this loneliness was coupled with a tinge of unwillingness and hatred.

“You can’t see your daughter now, but you at least know that she’s fine. Besides, you can still make video calls with her every day. But what about me?”

Fabian curled the corners of his lips into a self- deprecating smile and looked up at the sky outside the window.

“I don’t have any family in this world.”

His eyes became more and more lonely. It was a kind of genuine loneliness.

Niamh could fully understand how Fabian was feeling.

That was because there was a time when she thought that she was an orphan and that she no longer had any family in this world for a long time.

She could fully understand the feelings of helplessness and devastation.

“Eveline, you should go back. You came in vain anyway. I won’t let you see Lillian.”

When Niamh heard this, she slipped out of her reverie.

She looked at Fabian’s decisive gaze and asked calmly.

“How long do you intend to keep Lily?”

“I’ve never thought about this.” Fabian smiled and turned around. “My brother’s final words to me was to ask me to be a proper man. So, I won’t keep thinking about how to deal with you and Kendrick, but I must let you experience the feeling of losing a loved one.”

It seemed that Fabian would never allow Niamh and Fabian to see Lillian again.

Niamh felt that it would be useless to keep contending with Fabian. As such, she said nothing and turned around to leave.

After making sure that Niamh had left, Fabian quickly took out his phone to call back the number from just now. 6

When the call went through, he asked quickly.

“Where is the car now? Alright, I’ll head over right now.”

Fabian said this in reply and hurriedly drove out. A while later, he arrived at the car rental.

The staff took Fabian to one of the cars. “Mr. Johnson, is this the car you’re looking for?”

Fabian had looked at the surveillance footage multiple times, so he was certain that this was the car that the man who abducted Lillian drove.

“That’s right. Do you have the contact of the person who rented this car?” Fabian asked urgently.

The staff nodded and then handed Fabian the information of the person who rented the car.

However, Fabian tried calling the number and found that this number did not exist.

That meant this person had already planned for this.

“When did the person return the car? What does he look like?”

“Half an hour ago. He’s a tall and thin man completely dressed in black. He had a mask and a scarf on, so I couldn’t see how he looked.”

“Get me the security footage,” Fabian ordered the staff, and the staff did not waste any time. He immediately took out the security footage outside the shop and showed it to Fabian.

Fabian furrowed his long eyebrows tightly and looked closely. After watching the few seconds of footage of the man returning the car repeatedly, he suddenly had a face in his mind.

“Could it be him?”

Fabian had some guesses in his heart, but those guesses further worried him.

He quickly called his friend who worked at the airline.

“Help me check whether there’s a man named Carter Gray coming here from St. Piaf a few days ago.”

The person quickly looked through the data, but they could not find any information on someone named Carter Gray.

Fabian hung up the phone, doubting himself and wondering whether he made a mistake.

However, after thinking about it, knowing Carter’s ability, it would not be difficult for Carter to board a plane with a fake name.

After pondering for a while, Fabian finally unblocked Carter’s number and decisively called.

However, no one picked up the phone after a long while.

In the supermarket.

Carter, phone in hand, stared at the familiar number blinking on his phone for some time before finally putting the phone back into his pocket nonchalantly.

He bought some of the food that Shirley liked and quickly left the supermarket to return to the apartment.

The sun was setting at dusk.

Carter kept busy in the kitchen. When the sky nearly turned dark, Carter, with a cold face, went to call Shirley over.

“Dinner’s ready.”

Carter’s tone was icy. He lowered his eyes to look at Lillian who was sitting quietly on the sofa.

“There’s nothing for you.”

Lillian understood what he said, but instead of showing any emotional reaction, she merely blinked her clear, big eyes.

Shirley looked at Carter’s gaze that was filled with coldness and hatred. She then reached her hand to Lillian and showed her a friendly smile.

“Lily, come with me. We’ll go have dinner.” Shirley invited her amiably.

Lillian blinked her clear, big eyes and then looked at Carter before carefully lifting her small hand. However, before her small hand could touch Shirley’s palm, Carter barged toward them and pushed her small hand away.

Carter’s action was devoid of tenderness. He even looked a little brutal.

After Lillian was pushed away, she looked at Carter with a look of loss on her face.

Carter’s gaze darkened. “What are you looking at, huh? You can’t speak, so do your ears also not work? I said there’s none for you, don’t you understand?”

“Carter.” Shirley could not stand Carter’s attitude. “ Carter, are you sick in the head? You’re a grown man and you’re bullying a little girl?”
