Emery put on a fake, kind smile. “Amelia, we’re family. Why make things ugly? Give the shares to your brother, and the company will grow stronger.”
Amelia picked up the contract and glanced at it.
So that was their real plan today-to force me to hand over my shares.
As if that would ever happen.
“Grandpa gave me these shares. I’m not signing,” Amelia said firmly.
“You brat! Those belong to our family. You already cut ties with us, so hand them back. What right do you have to keep them?” Raymond shouted.
“Yeah, how can you be so shameless? Keeping all those shares for yourself,” Maxwell added.
They were just jealous because none of them had as many shares as Amelia.
Their grandfather had always been the sharp one. He must have noticed how they spoiled their adopted daughter while ignoring their real daughter.
That’s why, before he passed away, he left most of the company shares to Amelia to protect her.
Looking at this so-called family, Amelia only found it funny.
She calmly tore the stock transfer agreement in half and tossed the pieces onto the floor.
“Did you forget? Grandpa’s will made it clear. These shares belong to me. No one can take them.”
Marcelo’s face turned dark. He jumped to his feet. “Amelia, don’t push us! Remember that contract you signed. If you break it, you owe 500 million. Giving up the shares is the best deal you’ll get.”
“Exactly. Just sign it, and we’ll give you a million as compensation. How about that?” Emery urged.
Amelia gave a short laugh.
Did they really think she was that naive?
These shares were worth billions, and they thought a single million could buy her off?
Amelia asked, “And what if I refuse to sign?”
“Refuse? You don’t have a choice,” Marcelo’s voice was sharp with warning.
“I don’t take threats. I’m not signing the transfer agreement,” Amelia said calmly.
“Marcelo, why waste words? If she won’t sign, she’s not leaving this house. If she dies, we get everything anyway. Why wait?” Maxwell sneered.
See? Even a wolf won’t kill their own cubs.
Yet her family wanted her dead.
Amelia stared at them, voice cold. “Before I came here, I already talked to a lawyer and wrote a will. If I die, all my shares and money go to charity. You won’t get a single cent.”
The Nygards exploded with anger.
Gianna bit her lip and looked sad. “Amelia, I never thought you’d do something like this. We’re still your family. How can you be so cruel?”
“Gianna, you know what? I’d rather deal with a straightforward person than your fake sweet act. So drop the act, or I’ll slap you,” Amelia warned sharply.
Tears filled Gianna’s eyes at once, making her look hurt.
Maxwell pointed at Amelia and shouted, “You brat! Gianna was being kind to you, and you threaten her?”
Amelia snorted. “Kind? If she were kind, she wouldn’t have pushed you all behind my back to make me sign that worst contract.”
Gianna’s face turned pale.
Damn it. How did she find out?
It was true. Gianna had urged Marcelo and even helped him prepare the contract.
Marcelo saw Amelia wouldn’t change her mind and held back his anger.
If what she said was true, and she had already written her will, then killing her wouldn’t work.
They had to think of something else.
No problem, he still had that contract to use against her.
If she broke it, he’d sue for money.
If she followed it, he could make her life miserable until she gave up the shares to be free of it.
Marcelo looked at Amelia and said, “Fine. If you won’t sign, we won’t force you. Actually, the company just joined a very popular reality show. You and Gianna are both on the cast. I used my connections to get you spots.”
“That’s right, Amelia. All the top stars are on that show. If you do it, lots of people will see you!” Gianna chimed in quickly, her eyes glinting with hidden calculation
She thought to herself. My dear sister, that is what you asked for. Don’t blame me later.
Gianna knew Amelia was super stubborn and wouldn’t give up that easily.
So she told Marcelo that if Amelia didn’t agree to give up her shares, they should push her into a reality show.
At first, Marcelo didn’t like the idea, but a few words from Gianna quickly changed his mind.
“Marcelo, once she’s on camera, we’ll have plenty of ways to ruin her reputation. Under the pressure of public opinion, she won’t be able to hold out. In the end, she’ll have to give in.”
Once the audience saw Amelia’s arrogance and stupidity, the netizens would tear her apart. That alone would feel like perfect payback.
Only then did Marcelo nod and agree. He used his connections to put Amelia on a reality show called “Heiress Bootcamp.”
Of course, the Nygards’ entertainment company also invested in the show.
When Amelia heard about it, she lifted an eyebrow. “Oh? What kind of reality show is it?”
Marcelo was ready for that. He pulled a folder from his briefcase and slid it across the table. “It’s called ‘Heiress Bootcamp’. It matches your current image perfectly.”
He made sure to stress the word “image.”
Amelia opened the folder, and after reading the show description, she almost laughed out loud.
The reality show was about rich girls who had to live like regular working-class people. The producers would throw all kinds of tough and embarrassing tasks at them, just to see these spoiled princesses fail and make fools of themselves.
Not bad-it actually sounded kind of fun.
She figured their real goal was to humiliate her.
Amelia gave a cold laugh, her eyes shifting between Gianna and Marcelo. “Wow. I thought something this good would never come my way.”
Marcelo adjusted his glasses, trying to stay calm. “Heiress Bootcamp is the most popular reality show in the country right now. You and Gianna can join as sisters. It’s the perfect chance to fix your public image.”
Gianna jumped in with a smug look in her eyes. “That’s right, Amelia. People love watching sisters bond. We can do the challenges as a team and help each other.”
“Help each other?” Amelia snorted. “You mean, give you the chance to stab me in the back?”
Gianna’s smile froze. Her eyes turned red as if she was hurt. “Amelia, how could you say that?”
Raymond frowned and scolded, “Amelia, this is a company job. You have to do it! Don’t forget clause 17 in your contract. Artists must follow all company assignments, no exceptions!”
“Relax. I’ll join the show,” Amelia answered calmly.
They wanted her on the show? Fine. But they’d better not regret it later.
“Good. The filming starts in three days. I’ll send you the address,” Marcelo said.
Amelia gave him an “OK” sign with her hand, then walked out.
Right after she left, Maxwell asked in confusion, “Marcelo, why did you give Amelia such a big chance? That’s the most popular reality show right now.”
Marcelo smirked. “That’s exactly why. She’s nothing but a clueless country bumpkin. On camera, she’ll just make a fool of herself. Soon, the whole country would be laughing at her.”
Maxwell finally understood. “That’s smart! We can tell the director to give her the hardest tasks. She’ll break down in front of everyone for sure!”
Marcelo adjusted his glasses. “Relax. I’ll take care of it.”
Amelia, you’re asking for it!
Not long after, the production team officially announced the cast online.
Even though filming hadn’t started yet, people were already gossiping.
After all, out of the five guests, Amelia was the least known-pretty much a nobody.
Usually, she was just a background character in dramas that showed up for a few episodes before being written off.
The negative comments poured in fast.
[What? They actually cast Amelia for this show? She’s a nobody! Are the producers messing with us?]
[Yeah, does this mean just anyone can join now?]
[Who even is Amelia? Never heard of her!]
[She probably used the Nygards’ connection or some rich guy to get in. Poor Gianna has to put up with this nonsense.]
[I like all the other cast members, especially Gianna. But Amelia? Not feeling it at all.]
[Honestly, she’s pretty. I remember she once played a police officer in a drama, and she looked great. No idea why she never made it big.]
