Chapter 12 – The Heiress They Couldn’t Break

Not long after, Gianna’s whiny voice came from behind, “Amelia, wait for me! My feet hurt so much.”

Amelia didn’t turn around.

She knew the cameras were pointed at her, and any reaction would be made into drama.

“Amelia, you’re so heartless! Didn’t you hear your sister calling you?” Kristina suddenly shouted.

Amelia finally stopped walking and turned to face them.

Gianna was limping forward, tears running down her cheeks, looking so weak and pitiful.

Amelia said calmly, “She brought this on herself. Who shows up to an outdoor reality show wearing high heels? Anyone with common sense wouldn’t do that.”

Her words landed like a bombshell. And the livestream chat went wild instantly.

[Wow, Amelia really said it! She’s bold!]

[Honestly, she’s right!]

[But what’s wrong with just wanting to look good on camera?]

[Finally, someone spoke the truth. Walking a hiking trail in heels? That’s her own fault.]

[This program is nuts. These sisters are so fake!]

Gianna’s face turned pale, her eyes filling with tears. “Amelia, how could you be so mean?”

“Did I say anything wrong? Even a kid knows not to wear heels for outdoor stuff,” Amelia shot back.

Bella stood nearby, a small smile tugging at her lips.

This Amelia was far more interesting than she had imagined.

The crew looked at each other, surprised. None of them had expected the quiet-looking Amelia to speak out like that suddenly.

At the same time, more and more people were joining the livestream, and the comments were flying by so fast that it was hard to read them.

Amelia didn’t say anything else. She simply turned around and kept walking.

Bella hurried to her side and whispered, “Nice one.”

“I only said the truth,” Amelia answered in a cool, steady voice. “What, do they think this is some kind of soap opera?”

When the two of them reached the town entrance first, Huxley announced they could pick their beds first.

Gianna and the other two finally showed up half an hour later. Their makeup was a mess, and they looked completely exhausted.

Gianna was furious. This felt like pure torture.

She even worried she might not survive the whole show.

What scared her the most was that Amelia didn’t seem to care about how she looked on camera. All the little plans Gianna had in her head were wasted.

She had hoped to make Amelia look bad in comparison, to make the audience criticize Amelia, but it didn’t seem to be working.

The livestream chat was exploding.

[This is the kind of reality show I want!]

[Amelia is so real, I love her.]

[Poor Gianna, she looks miserable.]

[Looks like things are about to get exciting.]

In the control room, Huxley wiped sweat off his forehead. The show was going even better than he imagined.

But then he remembered what Marcelo had told him to do. Still, at this point, it didn’t look like he could control what was happening.

The main reason was that Amelia could handle hardship. She was honest, not pretending. There was no weak spot to exploit.

Huxley was even starting to admire her.

After all, girls like this were rare these days, especially in the entertainment industry. Almost impossible to find.

All he could do was watch and see what happened.

After the five guests picked their beds and put their stuff down, they got a short break before the next mission.

The first mission: go to the vegetable garden at the town entrance and pick ingredients for today’s meal. One hour limit.

As soon as the mission was announced, Gianna grabbed Amelia’s arm and said nicely, “Amelia, let’s work together! We can help each other.”

She wanted Amelia to do the hard work so she wouldn’t get too tired.

Amelia pulled her arm away and gave a small smile. “No thanks. I like to work alone.”

The livestream chat went wild again.

[What’s wrong with Amelia? Gianna was being friendly, and she just ignored her!]

[Yeah, who does she think she is, acting all cold and distant?]

[I bet she’s just afraid she’ll mess up in front of the camera!]

[Am I the only one who thinks Amelia is actually awesome? That Gianna is so fake. I didn’t notice it before, but now I can’t stand her.]

Amelia ignored everyone’s stares and walked straight to the garden.

She grabbed the vegetables fast, tying them up with skill. In less than half an hour, she was completely done.

Meanwhile, Gianna moved slowly on purpose. First, she whined about bugs. Then, she complained about the dirt. Her fussy behavior made both Kristina and Patricia unhappy.

How did they never notice she was such a drama queen before?

The livestream chat blew up again.

[Gianna is just too cute! Even when picking veggies, she looks so graceful!]

[Graceful? More like pretending. Look at Amelia. She’s serious about it.]

[Are you blind? Amelia’s totally pretending. There’s no way a spoiled rich girl can really work like that.]

[Who’s blind? Didn’t you see Amelia just now? She did amazing.]

When the mission ended, Amelia finished first and got the highest score.

Gianna, however, slowed everyone down and came in last.

Huxley said, “For tonight’s dinner, the top scorers get to choose their food first. The person with the lowest score only gets toast and omelet.”

Gianna’s eyes filled with tears right away. She looked into the camera, acting sad. “I’m really sorry, everyone. I made everyone lose … “

Kristina finally couldn’t take it anymore. She rolled her eyes. “If you know you’re making us lose, just learn properly. Who’s buying the sad act?”

Patricia sneered. “Yeah, what, do you think you’re some kind of princess?”

People said that before the Nygards adopted Gianna, she was just an ordinary kid. But after living a rich life, she completely forgot her past.

Kristina and Patricia were also from wealthy families. They could fake it for fun before. But in this tough setting, no one had the patience for her tricks.

Gianna’s face turned pale, then red in embarrassment. She hadn’t expected her teammates to suddenly turn on her.

Weren’t they supposed to be on my side?

She looked at Amelia, who stayed calm and confident, nothing like what Gianna had expected.

The livestream chat went wild.

[Drama alert!]

[Kristina and Patricia finally had enough of

Gianna. Hahaha!]

[Kristina and Patricia are so mean! Gianna’s trying her best!]

[Amelia didn’t even say a word to defend her sister, so cold!]

[This show is insane, way better than any soap opera!]

Huxley wiped sweat off his forehead. This was way beyond what he expected.

He checked the live numbers-the viewers had broken all records, and the livestream chat was triple the usual amount.

“Ahem, since the mission is over, let’s get ready for dinner,” he said, trying to calm things down. “Amelia, you get first choice of the ingredients.”

Amelia didn’t bother with all the drama. She walked straight to the kitchen.

She tied on an apron, picked a few simple vegetables, and some pork loin. The stove was an old brick one. She had to make the fire herself.

The other guests just stood there, looking confused. Only Bella came over, crouched down, and gave her some dry grass.

“Do you know how to start a fire?” Bella asked.
