JASMINE’S POV
“I’m just trying to understand why you would make so many unnecessary purchases in the first place? But to then resort to waitressing?” he asked in disbelief as he looked at me like I was crazy.
My eyes widened as I finally pieced together what was going on. The reason the servants were back in the house, the reason the driver came to pick Tony and I when I went to pick him up from school was because of Diana. She knew Keith was coming to my house and didn’t want him to know what she was doing to me. And she also made all these expensive purchases to make it look like I had finished my allowance from reckless spending and not due to her keeping it from me. Clearly that was the story she’d told him.
This is crazy. That woman was insane I thought to myself. My lips curved into a smile and I began to laugh hysterically. It was a situation so ridiculous I couldn’t help but laugh. Her dedication to keeping her image was interesting. I could imagine her finding out Keith was coming to my house and then rushing to send all the servants and driver to the house in time.
“Is something funny?” he asked me as I laughed.
“No, not at all,” I replied as I calmed myself.
“Well, is there anything you want to say since you were refusing to speak before?” He asked me.
“What do want me to say?” I asked him. I didn’t refute what Diana was accusing me of. I had had this conversation so many times before with Keith. I knew whatever Diana had showed him to he fully convinced
“Jasmine this so out of character for you. First of all you don’t need to be embarrassed, if you need money you can just ask for more. You don’t need to resort to working as a waitress. And you don’t need all this stuff so why did you buy it?” he asked me with a surprised expression.
I could only stare at him wide eyed and speechless. I couldn’t believe he believed that? Who on earth would spend 50 grand on things they didn’t need and then when the money finished resort to working at a restaurant? And as he said I had more than enough bags and clothes already why would I buy more? Is that how stupid he thought I was? Just how much did Diana have him wrapped around her finger?
“Jasmine, look, I understand the situation you’re in is not ideal, having been moved out to this house, but you have to agree it’s a consequence of your own actions. However, your recent actions have me concerned, maybe you need to talk to somebody to help you with what you – ” he suggested,
There was no way he was suggesting I get mental help? My eyes widened in disbelief.
” – Oh my god, Keith we’re not doing this,” I interrupted him in an annoyed tone. I didn’t care that he thought I was mad, but I wasn’t going to let him berate me to my face. I couldn’t stand his condescending tone either. He thought I was losing my mind due to him kicking me out.
Keith we were married for at least 7 years and though we weren’t romantically involved you did know me pretty well. Even you yourself have said that this was out of character for me. The fact that you believe whatever she has to say over what you know about my character is crazy.
“I appreciate your concern, but there’s no need to be worried,” I said to him through gritted teeth. “How about we make this easy for both of us so that this never has to be an issue again?” I went on. I was over this conversation and wanted it to end as soon as possible and for him to leave.
Keith cocked an eyebrow as he looked at me. “And what’s that?” He asked me.
“How about you stop giving me the allowance entirely?” I suggested.
“What?” he asked in confusion at my request.
“On top of that I want all the servants out of the house as well. You don’t have to provide for me anymore.”
This way Diana couldn’t torture me and lie about me using any of these things if I didn’t use them in the first place. I’m sure even if I’d found a way to prove my innocence and the evidence struck Keith in the face he’d still stand by Diana.
I had to accept that Keith was always going to be biased towards Diana. She knew knew how to manipulate him well. I was also over the entire Diana, Keith situation. I had completely exhausted myself in my past life I didn’t want to deal with them again. By the time I died they were still together and going strong. Better to just let them be.
” What are you saying?” Keith asked me once more in disbelief.
What Tony needed was stability right now. I had to figure out how to achieve my goals of being there for Tony, whilst also making sure he was left with something by the time I died. And I could only do that without any unnecessary stress and distractions. I couldn’t waste my time going back and forth with Diana and Keith like I had in my past life. The divorce and the endless legal battles that lasted years, till I got sick.
“I’m saying I don’t want your money and I don’t need the servants anymore,” I repeated.
“Are you joking? you can’t be serious,”Keith said to me.
“I am serious,” I answered confidently.
“Do you realise what you’re saying? You expect be to believe you’re going to be cooking and cleaning for yourself?” He asked me in disbelief.
“I don’t care what you believe,” I bluntly told him. I was already doing all that you idiot.
Obviously, he couldn’t believe that a woman who had been raised the way I had could manage doing all that. In my past life, I wouldn’t have been able to at this stage but I already had years of practice unbeknownst to him.
“Jasmine, I don’t know what’s going on with you but th – ” he started.
” – Try me Keith,” I interrupted him agitatedly, as I glared at him, clearly displaying my anger to him.
Keith’s eyes widened in surprise at my outburst. It was then that I realised that I had never spoken to Keith like this. In my past life when I spoke to Keith I was respectful and mild mannered. It’s how I had been trained to speak to my husband growing up. If this was my past life at this point in time I would also still be speaking to him kindly. I would have been begging/pleading with him to believe I was innocent and being by Diana of the things I’d done to her.
Unfortunately, for Keith the Jasmine he was speaking to now was one who had suffered greatly at his hands. The divorce and the legal battle for him to make Anthony his heir had completely drained me. I now loathed him with a passion.
“Jasmine…” Keith started in a tone that showed he wanted to continue arguing.
“What’s it to you anyway? Why am I in trouble? It’s not affecting you is it?” I started frustrated by how he wouldn’t let it go. “You said you want me to stop trying to meet with you everyday and I haven’t come to your office or house in the last two weeks. I also intend to keep it that way. So nothing else should be a problem between us. No matter how odd working as a waitress is, it’s my choice isn’t it? The money I spent was my money was it not? I wasn’t bothering anyone so what’s the problem?” I argued. Even though it wasn’t true I played into the finishing my allowance thing to make my point.
Keith bit his lip in frustration as he searched my eyes. He still couldn’t believe I was serious.”Fine suit yourself then,” he said to me at a loss. He then turned to the bodyguards in the room. “Tell the servants to leave the house immediately.” He told them.
He then turned back to me. “And I’ll tell Diana to stop sending you your allowance.”
He looked at me like he expected me to take back what I had said. I wasn’t taking back anything. “However, don’t say I didn’t warn you, when you come running back to me.”
How would I run back to you when I have no way of contacting you? Your guards and workers will send me away as they always do if I try to see you. I thought to myself.
“Great, so if you have nothing else to say I have to get started on dinner now,” I said to him now that everything was finalised.
Keith’s eyes widened once again completely shocked by my words.
“No,” he answered seeming speechless. “Let’s go,” he then turned to his men.
Soon he left living room with a dumbfounded expression. His men and servants following after him. I let out a tired sigh as I closed the door after him.
As I watched him leave I couldn’t help but think of how Keith actually thought he was trying to help me. He genuinely thought I was making the decision to do everything for myself out craziness. I sighed as I thought about it. Technically he was a kind a man and liked to help people. He also believed treating people fairly. The problem was he was gullible and self-righteous. A nasty combination.
Due to Diana’s lies, he was completely oblivious to what was actually happening to me. he kicked me out of the house for bullying Diana which, had it been true would be a fair punishment but it wasn’t since I was innocent.
He was always like this, I noticed it during the first 7 years of our marriage. Sometimes he didn’t know the true nature of a situation and would take things at face value without properly researching and act based on that.
At the time I thought just thought it was a small bad habit of his. Never had I imagined it would affect me in such big way one day. When Diana returned, Keith took everything she told him at face value. She completely knew how to use that flaw of his to her advantage.

Personally I found the whole Diana, Marco situation suspicious. There was something off even though Marco did look exactly like Keith. I remembered the time we lived together in the same home in the awkward situation, Diana always kept Marco suspiciously by her side.
I understood she had to be close to him since he had sensitive skin but, I didn’t know. Sure Diana showed Keith the birth certificates and DNA tests to ‘prove’ Marco was his but he should have done his due diligence as well. Just to make sure, he should have done his own tests and investigating.
