After he said that, Niamh quickly reorganized her thoughts in her head. Then, she asked calmly and decisively, “Do you think this is protection and concern, Mr. Carter? I don’t think so.”
“Hmm?”
“He might already know who I am, so he’s only probing me.” Niamh purposely sighed in annoyance. She furrowed her eyebrows together. “I don’t think I’m able to carry out my revenge plan now.”
She said and looked at Carter as if she was asking for help.
“Mr. Carter, can you help me?”
Carter looked at Niamh’s pure and innocent eyes. Then, the suspicions in his heart started disappearing for some reason.
“If you’re fine, you should go back to Waldburg Manor.”
“Will he stop me if I go out now? What if he asks me why I’m in such a beautiful manor? What should I tell him?”
Niamh pretended to look worried.
Carter placed his hands in his pockets and looked at Niamh as if he was in deep thought. Then, he said to the entourage next to him, “Invite him inside.”
“…” When Niamh heard this, she was stunned. ‘Is this man seriously inviting Kendrick inside?’
“Mr. Carter, I don’t think this is a good idea.” Niamh stopped him immediately. “Why don’t I leave?”
Carter stopped walking, and when he turned around to look at Niamh, she had already walked past him hurriedly.
When he saw Niamh’s bustling figure, he did not plan to stop her and instead turned around to stand in front of the window again to look at the front door of the manor. Then, he turned on his Bluetooth earphones to listen to what was happening at the door.
Niamh went out of the door after a while. She pretended to not see Kendrick but Kendrick stopped his car next to her.
She looked over in fake surprise and pretended to be shocked. “Mr. Waldburg? Why are you here?”
Kendrick did not say anything. Instead, he got out of the car and opened the passenger seat for Niamh. “Get in.”
“…” Niamh hesitated for a few seconds and did not know what to do. She looked at the French window where she was at just now with the corner of her eyes before getting into the car.
The more familiar she used to be with this passenger seat, the more touched she felt now.
She looked cautiously at the rear-view mirror. When she made sure no one was following her, she let out a sigh of relief in secret.
She kept feeling that Carter had asked someone to watch her every move.
He could always know immediately the moment something happened to her.
“Why did you go into the manor just now?” Kendrick asked curiously.
The man had indeed asked this question.
Niamh did not think much about the answer. She had already made up an answer before she came out.
“I don’t think I can hide from you anymore, Mr. Waldburg.” She sighed apologetically.
Kendrick felt his heart skip a beat. Then, he looked at Niamh who had her head lowered sadly.
When he was about to ask, he heard Niamh answering, “Actually, I’m working part-time here as well. I want to make more money to treat my face. However, don’t you worry, Mr. Waldburg. I’ll quit my job over here so I can concentrate my thoughts and efforts in taking care of Mrs. Montgomery.”
After Kendrick heard that, he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “If you need money, I can lend you some.”
“Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Waldburg. I don’t need that for now.” Niamh declined.
Kendrick curled the corners of his lips superficially. “I don’t think you need it either.”
“…”
“You can continue to work both jobs. I believe in your abilities,” Kendrick said suddenly. His gaze lingered on Niamh’s face for a few seconds. “Don’t mind the rumors and gossip online. Even though appearance is important, a person’s heart is more important.”

Judging from what he said, she figured that Kendrick had read about the people attacking her online.
Niamh nodded and did not say anything. They returned to Waldburg Manor in silence.
When Niamh went back to the living room, she spotted Naomi. She was grinning as she walked toward Kendrick. She even imitated her voice to call out to Kendrick softly, “Kendrick, you’re back. Oh, why is Quinny back at the same time as you?”
Niamh did not hesitate before retorting, “Mr. Waldburg is a nice man. He purposely went to where I did my business to fetch me back.”
“…” Naomi’s eyes fell. However, her expression still looked warm and friendly.
“Quinny, I’m so sorry that you fell into the lake while saving my mother. I saw someone taking a video of your face and they even put it online. I feel so sad for you.”
Niamh never felt such an intense hatred for her own face. At the end of the day, the person she hated was the woman who was using her face while being pretentious.
When she thought about Naomi’s conceited face, Niamh scoffed and mocked coldly. “If you’re truly sorry, Mrs. Waldburg, you wouldn’t have intentionally pulled down my mask and embarrassed me in front of everyone.”
After she said that, the living room fell silent.
Karen, who was holding Pudding, was also stunned.
Naomi did not expect Niamh to say that. When she noticed Kendrick judging her with a curious and probing gaze, Naomi started to feel anxious. “Quinny, how could you say that? When did I pull down your mask? You’re the careless one—”
“Mrs. Waldburg, stop quibbling. Do you want to see the proof?”
‘What?
‘Proof?’
Naomi was stunned for two seconds, then she saw Niamh taking out her phone to open an app.
“Mrs. Waldburg, you said a lot of people were filming at that time. Coincidentally, someone captured the moment you ripped my mask off of me. Will you only admit it if I show everyone the video?”
When she heard this, Naomi’s face looked even more horrid.
She wanted to go up and take a look but then Kendrick took Niamh’s phone and opened the video.
When she heard the sound coming from the video, Naomi was sure it was the video from the park that day.
She could hear a lot of people saying that Niamh’s face looked terrifying.
Naomi started to feel guilty. She thought nobody saw her when she ripped Niamh’s mask off. She did not expect someone to have captured the scene on video.
While she was feeling nervous, she saw Kendrick glancing over at her. This made Naomi even more nervous.
“Kendrick, I-I did mean to remove Quinny’s mask. It’s because she fell into the water and I was worried that her wounds might get infected, so that’s why I did that.” Naomi quickly found an excuse for herself.
When she heard that, Niamh burst out laughing.
“Mrs. Waldburg, do you know what self-induced confession is? It’s what you’re doing now.”
“…”
“Nobody captured the video of you ripping my mask off. I lied to you, but your confession is even more convincing than any evidence now.”
“…”
Naomi’s face turned one shade paler.
Karen was confused after hearing that. “W-What do you mean?”
Niamh said calmly, “It means that this Mrs. Waldburg is not as gentle and kind as the rumors made her out to be. Sometimes, she’s a little sinister too.”
“…” Naomi was speechless for a moment. Her expression looked even more horrible now.
“Quinny, I think you’ve misunderstood Eveline. She was only worried that you’d get infected by the lake water so that’s why she removed your mask to check. Eveline didn’t have any bad intentions.” Karen tried to explain on Naomi’s behalf.
Niamh knew Karen wanted to defend her real daughter-in-law, but she did not know the daughter-in- law in front of her right now was just an imposter.
“Kendrick, do you want to believe me? I really bear no malice. We’ve been together for so many years, don’t you know what kind of person I am?”
Naomi walked over to Kendrick and said in a soft tone to use this opportunity to show her softer side. She asked curiously with a look of grievance.
“Quinny, I’m grateful that you saved Lily and my mother, but why are you always targeting me?”
“Yeah, why am I always targeting you? It’s because you disgust me,” Niamh retorted, not showing any respect for Naomi at all.
Naomi was stunned, and the corners of her lips started twitching.
Niamh took back her phone from Kendrick and went upstairs.
Karen looked at Niamh’s carefree back and stood up bewilderedly. “Kendrick, what’s wrong with Quinny? It seems that she keeps targeting Eveline. We can’t let this continue. Even though she saved Lily and Eloise, how can we continue to let her stay here with that attitude? Why don’t we fire her?”
Kendrick nodded as if he was in deep thought. “I’ll talk to her.”
